Thanks for stopping by Gavin,while I agree that (transcend) can have many meanings, I think it works well here
as in (overcome) or (rise above)
do you really think that the listeners of a song analyse a lyric in that context, I've listened to thousands of songs over fifty years and never once thought, oh that word is just there to rhyme,
but maybe I'm wrong,
