I haven't been too active lately, but here is a 50/90 tune. I guess most of you know I do a lot of BIAB type stuff. Well here I am playing guitar, bass, banjo, percussion and ukulele on this one! I can't remember the last time I played banjo, bass or percussion and I have never played the uke before. Of course if you stay simple, it is fairly easy to play other stringed instruments with frets -- if you know how to play guitar OK. I am trying to channel the Lumineers these days, but I probably didn't come too close. Maybe you will all will be OK with me using BIAB now -- ha, ha. I am sending you to the 50/90 page for this song. ******************************************************* [size:14pt]I Think I Found Love (woah-oh-oh)[/size]© Emmrich 2013I think I found love whoa-oh-oh I think I found love whoa-oh-oh (verse) it was wrapped up like a gift the kind you have to have but no matter how many times you wished it was underneath your tree you woke up from that dream before it was opened up I think I found love whoa-oh-oh I think I found love whoa-oh-oh (verse) and now you have a chance the one you had to have but you've seen this chance before walk out that door try not to count the failures before it all unravels (bridge) Sometimes it all seems so real sometimes it's like a movie scene but when I look at you and you stare back at me i begin to hope that it was meant to be I think I found love whoa-oh-oh I think I found love whoa-oh-oh (verse) I wasn't really looking the future I can't see I know my way's unsure I might stumble and fall hey, we've all fallen before I'll pick you up if you pick up me. (repeat bridge) I think I found love whoa-oh-oh I think I found love whoa -- oh – oh Kevin: acoustic guitar, bass, vocals, percussion, banjo, ukulele

Kevin,
I enjoyed this tune, I think especially because I've never heard anything like it. You have a unique sound both with some interesting melodies with your songs and your "Neil Young" type vocals. A little polish and smoothing out a couple of places and you'll have a real cool song.
Not sure, but I was thinking maybe a hi-hat only in the last pause before your end tag might sound cool and better let the listener know the song isn't quite over and create a neat effect.
Nice write Kevin, really cool bridge and neat banjo flavor that seems almost Americana sounding. "Generally speaking, I like this type production over biab as the tracks just seem more independent to my ears--which I like. Nice job!

Hi Kevin -- I listened to this while cooking dinner and after the first "woah-oh-oh" I couldn't stop singing that line very loudly, over and over, so I missed hearing everything else and had to go read the words! This sounds great -- very cool! -- Lisa

Damn good, Kevin. I think a lot of us "writers" should take a lesson and work on incorporating more non-words (whoa-oh-oh) in our lyrics. Did you come up with that part during the music writing stage?

Vic: Thanks for stopping by and giving it a spin, it is appreciated!
steady-eddie: On a Lumineers song (I can't find it at the moment), they came to a complete stop and I thought the song was over -- and they cranked it back up. It was a little disconcerting, but I thought I would give it a try anyway (ha, ha). Maybe the gap is too big, though. Thanks for the visit and kind words!
Doug: "... Very movie-esque..." is nashville-speak for "who would want to listen to this song!". Ha, ha -- Thanks for stopping by and I know (hope) you didn't mean that!
Mike: Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment.
Scotty: Thanks for the listen and leaving some remarks. It is always appreciated.
Lisa: Sometimes you need some woah-oh-oh in your life (ha, ha). Thanks for enjoying the tune -- I hope I didn't throw the dinner prep up and cause you to burn anything!
Chris: "...more non-words..." As I stated, I have been listening to the Lumineers lately (and bands like them) and they seem to do that a bit. So I am just copying that. But you are right, sometimes it is the words, but sometimes it is just the screaming out (ha, ha).
Tammy: Hello there and thanks so much for stopping on by. I don't know if it is "rushed" -- or if I just stumbled while reading along. I knew that line was a problem. Please continue to point these type of things out. It really is helpful in making things better (but I should have fixed this one before posting!).
Thanks to all that listened!

Kevin,
I think this sounds really good. I liked the harmony there at the end on "meant to be." I was wondering if you might use a quiet shaker or a bit of brushed sounding snare for the percussive bits? I think it would sound a bit more organic? I wish I could play banjo. Play a bit of uke..as you say because I can play a bit of guitar. You have a good mix on this. Really liked the guitar sound.

KEVIN--
You may have found your nitch!
What you do is simple, but with a happy sing-along melody--I like this one a lot-
Keep up the good work!
A MANDOLIN may complement this one also--
Write on--

Wendy: I was going to use a tambourine and the bass kick (like the Lumineers like to use), so I don't know why I went for that other cymbal/hit-hat type sound, but you are probably right on that. Thanks for stopping by and giving it a listen.
Mackie: I need a niche (ha, ha). I need a mandolin, too. Maybe sometime in the next year or so I will get one. Thanks for the listen and kind remarks.
Calvin: It is critical to have that easily remember-able and sing-along hook -- but it sure is hard to do. Thanks for the visit!

The song was very good both melodically and you played all very well. I congratulate you on playing things you weren't real adept on, but your design for the song made them work. You did a great job, and I'll be the first to tip my hat. Hope to hear more like this. Keep it up.....Bobby

Hey Kevin,
Loved this. Loved the relaxed vibe of the whole thing. The instrumentation sounded great as did the recording. Nice write. Had a little Jayhawks feel to it imo, whom I love. Congrats.

Bobby: Thanks for the listen and kind words. Are you all set up now in your new digs? 50/90 is always fun, but I need to write more songs -- I am behind already!
Dave: Thanks for the listen and the comments. I actually don't know much about the Jayhawks. I am listening to their letterman video from ~1991 "Waiting for the Sun". I'll have to listen to a few more later today.
