Hello JPF'ers. Been a while yet again. I have been away and working on the songs and choreography for "Pirates of Penzance" [This years production I am performing in] as well as a 20 min. set I will be performing on December 12th. [Original Christmas / seasonal songs.] To say the least, "Busy." Yesterday I had the very rare occasion where my home was empty except for me and it allowed me to create this demo of one of the song I will be performing. Please have a gander and listen and tell me what you think. As always all and any are appreciated. Douglas I find the sound better through headphones but that could just be me. ADDED THIS MIX WITHOUT DRUMS. "I agree it sounds more acoustic without." http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=12979155&q=hihttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csnStJtk9k8&list=UUTWtRQSbOYvFh6k0HXWTaOgThe First Snow Of The Season (12. 09. 09) (A) It’s hard to be down, to wear a frown, when the first snow falls of the season. It floats all around, covering the ground, the first snow fall of the season. Painting things white, everything’s bright, muffles the sounds as it falls. It’s hard to be down, to wear a frown, when winter again comes to call. (A) It’s hard feeling blue, but some people do, when the first snow falls of the season. Some go away, can’t face those days, when the first snow falls of the season. They stay up all night, fearing frostbite, dreaming of green grass and sun. It’s hard feeling blue, but some people do, when winter again has begun. (B) Fresh falling snow is a blessing you know, makes some feel young and alive. The world goes to sleep under a cover so deep waiting for spring to arrive. (A) It’s hard though I know, but why is it so? When the first snow falls of the season. Some people complain, would rather have rain? Then the first snow fall of the season. Walk beside me, then you would see the beauty I see everywhere. It’s hard but it’s true, don’t know about you? But I love the first snow of the season. (Tag) It’s hard to be down, only hope there’s no frowns. Today. The first snow of the season. Copyright © 2009 by Douglas Murphy

I'm listening to it through my studio monitors and its sounds pretty cool (no pun intended :-). My only nit is the drums are doing it no favors and it would probably sound better without them. But given that this is still a scratch tape it sounds good and the lyrics/hook hold up well.
Enjoy playing this over the festive period.

Sounds fine to my ears Douglas.
I guess dropping the drums would give it more of that singer songwriter feel... but it's fine as is.
Really love the sentiment in the lyrics.
Wonderful performance.

I'm likin' this one Douglas. It looks like you're getting to know BIAB a bit better.I think the drums kinda had a stumble to them, maybe use another more mellow drum or none at all.Well i hope this is close as i'll get to the white stuff!Enjoyed the song and video.Mike

Hi Mike. I am getting a little more familiar with BIAB and have added a mix down of the song without the drums.
Thanks for stopping by.

Thank you Floyd. I am trying to learn and to play with BIAB when the chance arises. Here in my crowded home those days are far and few between.

I liked the acoustic version. I don't listen in phones but the mix sounds good in my monitors. Nice.

I like the track even more without the drum bed. I know it might sound a bit cheesy but how about adding some sleigh bells in the chorus section... Just for fun. Might work..

Thanks for the listen and words of encouragement Michael. We had snow but it melted and it "rained".
