Barely got this one out before "November Leaves". https://soundcloud.com/mdowning-2/november-leaveshttp://youtu.be/2Udg_bv-LEENovember Leaves By Stanfield Major and Mike Downing Copyright 2014 by Major and Downing November leaves Are dry and forsaken Only a few Still hang from the trees All the rest Blew away in October That's how she left, How she left me to grieve Chorus November leaves Are falling' 'round I'll be facing' December When November leaves She wanted a change And change wasn't in me I would survive Or so I believed Now I'm no sure I have a future Now I'm all alone driftin' in this breeze Chorus

Pretty cool arrangement and performance Michael Quite short but it's all good. Just a sugg (UOL) for the chorus:
Chorus November leaves Are falling' 'round It's a cold ..... COLD December When November leaves
"I'll be facing December" sounds a little too much of an obvious statement.
Very nice. Vic

Hey, Mike...
Everything about your music is distinctive. The arrangement. The instrumentation. The vocals. The Lyrics. This song is very, very good and I can hear it in a film or on stage in someones world tour! Good work!!

Hi Vic,
Thanks for the suggestion.
I get where you're going... the loss of warmth due to a lack of companionship. The thought I was trying to express is a bit different. I was hoping to suggest that this person will be facing his/her mortality alone when November leaves. Perhaps there's a better way to suggest this?

Stan/Mike...
Super cool song.
Simple lyric with a cool turn on the hook. Excellent, singable melody.
Terrific instrumentation and vocal.
Catchy.
Enjoyable.

Thanks Floyd and Calvin Instrumentation and vocals are all in Mike's province. I'll let him speak to those. I'll take the "turn on the hook". Later, Stan

Mike/Stan,
This is a cool song. Very catchy. I like how the hook has two meanings. The lyric is concise and the vocal captures its vulnerability. Especially when you sing, "Nooo...vember". It's like you're singing "No" to the phrase before it. That adds a lot of emotion right there. I like the image of the leaves blowing being compared to her leaving. Great job. I like the harmonies too.
Enjoyed this!
Kristi

This is very good, and anything I say is only in the fine-tuning or nit-picking category.....I assume you want suggestions for improvement.
From a mixing perspective, the piano is very up front and I think I would back off a bit on the volume and/or add a touch of reverb.
I thought the guitar solo/fill was a bit below the standard of everything else and I think it would be worth spicing it up a bit.
Otherwise, real good.

It has it all -- everything it needs and there's nothing there it doesn't need.
Just a great production to support a cool lyric and melody. I like that falling leaf motif.
Kudos -- we much enjoyed listening.

Very clear and concisely written, Stan. And Mike, your music and production never disappoint. Well done by you both.

Ricki, Janice, Bud, Colin, Kristi, Calvin, Floyd, and Diff... whew!
Anyway, thanks all for listening. I thought Stan nailed it with the lyrics. Fun and a bit sad at the same time.
