A post on Fox News says maybe Luke Bryan stepped off Stage and punched a "Fan" Now is that "Fan" at the wrong Concert or is it Luke's Singing? A lot of small venues would put up Chicken Wire in front of the Stage to keep unruly patrons from throwing things at the stage. Maybe nothing's changed, no?

I saw the video. Bryan looked like a little wuss: hopping down from the stage, giving the guy a little tap on the face, and then hopping back up as quickly as he could before the fan could react. Despite the fact that it didn't look like he did any real damage, it's still technically assault and he should not have done it. No matter what the reason.

I love how these celebrities try to act all badass then duck back behind their security. Reminds me a bit of Justin Beeeeeeeber's tough guy routine.

The "Fan" was flipping him off during his set at a charity concert for Charlie Daniels raising money for Vets. At least that is the reason that was given as to why Luke jumped down and gave the guy a slap. As described (outside of the wimpy Fox News reporting of a sensational headline), the guy was being a nuisance not only to Luke but to others around his person. Shortly after the slap, security came and escorted the "fan" out of the concert.
I'm guessing most of you don't do a lot of live performing based on all the arm-chair comments about how a musician should act when taunted or has a "fan" that is bothering others in their audience.

Could have taken the Axyl Rose or Van Morrison approach, dive off into the audience and just start fighting everyone around. It is pretty funny from comments people make. Very different when you are there.
Go watch the Rolling Stones movie "Gimme Shelter". There's a way for security. Get Hells Angels to do it and beat everyone with pool cues and then stab a guy when he shows up with a gun.

That's a condescending post if ever I read one. FYI, I have played 1000s of gigs and toured. I am sure quite a few folks here have live performance experience; in fact, I KNOW they do. Everyone gets heckled at some point. Be the professional! That's all I have to say. Peace, TC

That's all I have to say. TC - its easy to say what one would do from an armchair. Fortunately for myself I've not reacted that way when I've been flipped off. But then in my experience it hasn't been a constant person over the course of several songs, its a rare occurrence. If I did have someone doing it and being belligerent about it, I might be accused of hiding behind security (as you poignantly pointed out in your first post - because that's not condescending). I love how these celebrities try to act all badass then duck back behind their security. Reminds me a bit of Justin Beeeeeeeber's tough guy routine. Or I might decide I've had enough and do something about it myself like Luke did. Or I might ask audience members to have a hand in curtailing the B.S. Hard to say. Who knows, maybe next time I'll invite the idiot on stage and hand them the guitar and mic. See if they have the talent to be there to entertain others. But hey, now we know you're a badass live. Could have taken the Axyl Rose or Van Morrison approach, dive off into the audience and just start fighting everyone around. It is pretty funny from comments people make. Very different when you are there. Exactly MAB.

If I'd been on stage and some guy gave me the finger, I would've gone after him. Anyway, I'm a Luke fan.
One of my singers (I won't mention her name) was singing with the band at Tootsies. She spotted a woman in the crowd who was messing with her boy friend. She left the stage and attacked the woman. The woman sued her for assault. We went to court, and the case was thrown out.

Could a, would a, should a. We got heckled at a private party years ago. The younger brother of the host. We ignored him. Afterward on our way out the kid was getting ready to puke by some bushes along the driveway. My #11 boot found his ass and pushed him through the bushes. At least he puked in the neighbors yard.
