Hey there JPF! I recently got back this demo and wanted to share it with you. Mike Zaneski did his usual spectacular vocals. Thanks Mike! The production was done by Pat Lassiter so a huge thanks to him and, as soon as I find out who all the players are, I'll thank them as well. One more thing off my bucket list! Thanks for listening. https://soundcloud.com/rickib/thank-you-coloradoTHANK YOU COLORADO Drove to Colorado for a woman But stayed in spite of her She moved on, then she married I didn’t go anywhere So thank you Colorado What hasn’t killed me yet Might leave me standing Turned the right way ’round So thank you Colorado I could lie and say we’re friends It’s true we’ll nod and smile Learned to live with the hurt I’ve passed the stage of denial So thank you Colorado What hasn’t killed me yet Might leave me standing Turned the right way ’round So thank you Colorado Love these open spaces But there are other places No sense hanging on Once the spark is gone So thank you Colorado Showed me who I’m not First you built me up Then you tore me down You’re just like that woman What hasn’t killed me yet Might leave me standing Turned the right way ’round So thank you Colorado Thank you Colorado Thank you Colorado ©Ricki E. Great song. I like the vocals and overall sound.
The lyrics really touch me. I don't know how many times I've come to that same conclusion... what hasn't killed me yet.
Thanks for posting this. I enjoyed it very much!!

Good song and excellent production.
The instrumentals were good, and the vocals were really excellent. Nice job, Mike!
The bridge is awesome! The rest of the tune is quite good as well. The only place that struck me a little funny was: "I’ve passed the stage of denial" - I would use the keyword 'denial' in a metaphor (like it was a place). For instance, "And drive right past denial" - maybe not the best prose for the song but you get the idea.
The production was top notch except I didn't like the drum sound as much as I did on your last demo (the one trackgurl did).
Overall, it was awesome (critique bar set high on this one!).
Peace, TC

Wounderful song! Nicely told story and Mike did an awesome job on the vocals. The chorus is really something special. Still hear it in my head after the song was done playing. Always a good sign! Thanks for sharing!

Hey Ricki,
What's not to like? Loved the Bridge especially. Nice Country tune here! (Kudos Mikey Z)

Great lyrics and there's a Dylan quality to the vocals and I love them ... but ... imho the musical arrangement is a little smooth for the song. I wondered what it would sound like with an accordion, harmonica or slide guitar. Anyway, I may be just jealous.

That's a top notch song. Writing and production/vocals are great. I love the folk-rock/Americana genre and that fits right in.

Yes, nicely done. Was a bit impatient to get through the "Colorado" but the melody was awesome.
If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop

Ricki Whoops. Sorry, I was thinking of another demo that was also really well done in the same vein as your tune. Sorry for the confusion. Loved the tune. Peace, TC

Thanks Vic. This is the first critique I've received that said the music was too smooth! Next time I'll tell the musicians to rough it up a bit. Thanks for listening. Ricki
