This is the final version, with a new bridge.
The original version is below this one.
Song - California Cowboy Verse #1 Wearin’ new Ridin’ Boots and Stetson Hat, (11) Cruisin’ 'round Beverley Hills in his Cadillac. (12) Smellin’ of newly applied sweet after shave, (11) Searchin’ each and ev'ry night for the perfect Babe. (12) Chorus His heroes are the old Movie Stars, That rode on the silver screen. John Wayne is his idol, Who was always tough and mean. The only horse power that he’s known, Is under the hood of his car. Yeah he’s a California Cowboy, And he's lookin’ for his co-star. No, he’s not the real McCoy, He’s just a, California Cowboy. Yeah he’s a, California Cowboy. Verse #2 Dreamin’ that he’s free out on the open range, (11) Wishin’ that life would bring around a welcomed change. (12) Hopin’ it comes for real and very soon, (11) Prayin’ that it happens before his own high noon. Bridge Sometimes city life has burst it's seams, But this world was made for living out your dreams.
(Instrumental) Chorus His heroes are the old Movie Stars, That rode on the silver screen. He’s a lonely, California Cowboy. Copyright © 2017. Ross Mabey/Jeffrey Ullsperger.
Needs a new bridge.

I was born in Houston, grew up as a child in Mississippi. When I was a teenager, parents moved to California. I'll take California over Texas, anyday. Why? Hot damn, look ma, no mosquitos!
Nice lyrics, though, I get the point. You are raggin' on phony cowboys, but I've seen 'em in Houston, Austin, etc., not just in CA.

Thanks. It sounds a better hook than Texas Cowboy. I guess it doesn't matter where you go there a phony people around. I thought made a good lyric.
Here is one that Jeffrey and I wrote a few years ao.
Song - Montana Mountains.
verse #1 Montana Mountains, your son has come home, (10) Through majestic forests and valleys I now roam. (12) I look upon your mighty peak’s, towering above, (12) Their grandeur is what I can't help but love. (10)
chorus Montana Mountains, reaching for the sky, Take me to a special place, To nature's perfect high. You're beauty captures my heart, I will be yours faithfully. So Montana Mountains won't you, Please speak to me.
verse #2 By the campfire’s glow, at night all alone, (10) I am comforted knowing you're part of my soul. (12) Surrounded by your beauty, every night and day, (12) The sun, the moon and stars do light my way. (10)
chorus Montana Mountains, reaching for the sky, Take me to a special place, To nature's perfect high. You're beauty captures my heart, I will be yours faithfully. So Montana Mountains won't you, Please speak to me.
bridge When I die one day, And home is Heaven above. I’ll ask for a room with a view, Of the mountains that I love.
instrumental
chorus Montana Mountains, reaching for the sky, Take me to a special place, To nature's perfect high. You're beauty captures my heart, I will be yours faithfully. So Montana Mountains won't you, Please speak to me. Montana Mountains won't you, Please speak to me.

Ross, you'd likely get more feedback if you posted in the Lyrics Feedback Forum 3 rather than this message forum. Donna

Thank you Travis. I have had the good fortune to write with Jeffrey Ullsperger who has recently moved from Wisconsin to Tennessee. We have been writing for over 10 years. We have never met. I consider myself fortunate to have been tutored and mentored by Jeffrey.

I lived in London for 15 years. I came back to Australia (where I lived most of my life) 2.5 years ago. In answer to your question about country music in Australia. There is a country music festival held each year in a Town in New South Wales, called Tamworth. See link below. For the size of the population there is a reasonably strong following. Australia has its own country music stars. http://www.tcmf.com.au/

Hi Travis, I find the best way to look at it, is to see no borders. With the Internet you are a citizen of the world.

The person who wrote the new bridge to this song also lives in the UK. My apologies, I did not mean to ramble on. I'm off to bed. Good night, or afternoon, or morning where ever you are.
