Here is a skirmish theme (write/record song in an hour) proposed by out own DonnaMarilyn. She said to write a song using these words: "UNDECIDED – RAIN – LOST - ALIBI" Here's what I came up with. It is pretty goofy, but it is just an hour!
on the train (c) emmrich 2017
I’m undecided standing in the rain I lost my alibi when I saw you on the train
I might have been misguided weak link in the chain my plans went awry on the way to ft wayne
like a crime novel without the sexy model more mid-western plump kept coming up
so I pulled down my cap wish I had a bogie hat and got off that train should have gone by plane
so I’m undecided no umbrella, lots of rain I lost my alibi my treks in vain
I think that the lyrics could use some work. Never heard of "midwestern plump." Occurring just after "sexy model," ...I have a feeling that the definition is politically incorrect.
On the other hand....enjoyed the way you did the video. Enjoyed the sound that you made on your ukele. (sp) And enjoyed the vocal presentation.
I always enjoy your uke/vocals, Kevin. You have your own unique enjoyable style. That said, I also think you could put a little more effort into the lyrics, but I know from the past, you write, record, then move on, so all I'll say is, if you spent more thought and time, you'd have an even better song.
Given the limitations imposed by our own Donna M.... I think you did quite well. FAWM provides a great "outlet" for so many talented writers and performers... such as you. Enjoyed. ----Dave
This is impressive considering it's been done in under an hour. While I agree the lyrics might benefit from some fine tuning, this is a fun listen with killer uke play. Thanks for sharing.
Ha....that's cute. I agree that a bit of polishing would be worthwhile. I might change mid-western to corn-fed. The lead uke track is walking over the vocals at times - maybe it's unnecessary.
