http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13553194Where is That Line? (Neil Cotton) Where is that line Dividing weak from strong Lusting from loving, Right from the wrong Kidding from being mean Where is that line Separating us Into hated and haters Selfish and selfless Envied from being green Everyone’s unique In our view of the world And how we are being seen Where is that line Allowing us to judge The lives of others The maybes and musts Choices made being me Everyone is unique In our view of the world And how we are being seen Where is that line ( 3x ) That line is too fine to see

Hi Neil,
Very cool, I liked the melody--interesting lyrics and concept. The only word I might consider tweaking, is "allowing." Maybe "causes?" Not sure. The song fits your vocal style well too!

Neil,
I commented in the Lyrics 3 Forum--again, really admire the lyrics. You've done a great job capturing their spirit as you've put it to music. Pretty cool.

Deej

You went really deep for this one, Neil. Thought provoking lyrics. Musically I was thinking it would have more of a striped down acoustic production but, that's just me.
There was only one line I felt didn't fit in with the rest:
Choices made being me
Throughout the song, you speak of us, our and we. To be consistent, maybe:
Choices made by being us
Adding "by" might make it clearer, or not. Anyway, that's all I've got. Well done.
Ricki

We are now in what is usually the most fickle month weatherwise, at least here in the Midwest where I live. (Often wonder if T. S. Eliot ever visited at this time and is why he thought of this as the cruelest month). I think the "line" you speak of in the song is about as fickle and apply to just about anything. From a musical standpoint, a song such as "Poetry in Motion", a very popular song in its day and a very positive one, might be considered too sexist for today's culture. Just one of many examples.

Nice write! Interesting concept for a tune, I like that. Ricki has a point on the "me" line.
