"Stuck Here At The Light" (c) 2018 by David Gill
This traffic light is no friend of mine it's laughing in my face Who'd a thought a small red disc could put me in my place? But here I find myself praying that it turns to green Lord, tell me why is this traffic light so mean?
What if I just rolled on through ignoring the driving rules and break a little law? Keep on driving pretending I don't see and pray that no one saw. Well that's the thing that got me here So this time I've gotta do what's right I'm better off stuck here at the light
I was on my way to say how sorry I have been There's really no apology to make up for my sin and I will be right there just as soon as I can move What the hell is this light trying to prove?
What if I just rolled on through ignoring the driving rules and break a little law? Just keep on driving pretending I don't see and pray that no one saw. Well that's the thing that got me here The devil sayin' "It'll be alright" So I'm better off stuck here at the light
The road ahead looks awfully long I could make a right on red and be gone, gone, gone, gone, gone But I think I'll wait my turn And hope your love for me still burns I know what I did was wrong
(instrumental)
Your eyes are red from cryin' and you're sitting on the stair I pull into the drive hoping you're happy that I'm there I run up to you You stand up to me There's one more stop to wait through before you come back to me!
What if I just rolled on through ignoring the driving rules and break a little law? Keep on driving pretending I don't see and pray that no one saw. Well that's the thing that got me here So this time I'm gonna do what's right I'm better off stuck here at the light

Good lyric Dave well thought through though a long one. I like the idea and the imagery stands up well Travis

Thanks, Travis. I've been toying with the idea of removing the first chorus and skipping straight into the 2nd verse. Would that shorten it enough, ya think?
I dunno. It's a re-write but still a work in progress. Thanks so much for taking the time to read and respond. I truly appreciate it.
Peace,
Dave
Oh WAIT!! I think I figured it out... Check the edit...
