Hey JPF'ers... I don't mean to intrude upon the concurrent Neil Young Song Challenge thread, but it occurred to me we've got a virtual goldmine's worth of inspiration heading our way this weekend: Valentine's Day! Rather than playing around with the ubiquitous word "LOVE" though, I thought it might be more fun and challenging to utilize a looser interpretation of the holiday -- the color RED. It doesn't have to be a love song either. If you have neither the time nor the interest to play along, no worries...hopefully a few folks will be moved to give it a go. I'll kick things off with this number called " Red Pajamas", which I knocked off in about a half hour's time. I swear, I don't know what loosened up my Muse, but it's like someone dumped some Drano in my brain -- in a good way . But without further ado... " Red Pajamas" (c) 2015, Beth G. Williams, BMI My man is always buttoned up A custom suit, a hint of cuff Hair and nails, groomed and buffed A wardrobe made for moving up I can't say I'm averse to this My handsome Mr. Business Hiding all his sexiness Until he's home and then we kiss ... But when it's time to take it off, instead I open up the drawer, 'cause .... There's something 'bout his red pajamas I simply can't explain They've got me begging "come to Mama" All reason's down the drain Could it be the cat design That gets me into trouble? Or that we bought them back in time When we were first a couple? They didn't cost a lot of money And sure they look a little funny But he wears them for his honey-bunny Until it's time to get real comfy And though they end up on the floor, like me, they're always up for more, 'cause ... There's something 'bout his red pajamas I simply can't explain They've got me begging "come to Mama" All reason's down the drain Could it be the cat design That gets me into trouble Or that we bought them back in time When we were first a couple? Whether dressing up or down Underneath is all that counts But understand me With your red jammies We will always go to town Yes, there's something 'bout his red pajamas I simply can't explain They've got me begging "come to Mama" All reason's down the drain Could it be the cat design That gets me into trouble Or that we bought them back in time When we were first a couple? -------------------------------------------------------------------- I look forward to seeing what you clever kiddos come up with. Good luck and have fun!! Beth

Glad the muse is "a-musing" you lately and on the loose!!! Might be cheating here Beth as this was already written, so maybe I'll put one word in red just to make it fair (where is that rule book I know I had it here somewhere ...) Now you have me curious if I have any other lyrics w/the word red hmmmmmm....
“What Happened To Love” (c)Lynn Orloff
You used to bring me chocolates And call me valentine Hide love notes in my pocket That I’d so often find I used to be the first now I’m the last thing on your mind I wonder what happened to love..
We used to have a future We made all kinds of plans I thought I felt a magic Each time you held my hand I used to be your woman, and you used to be my man Oh tell me what happened to love..
Where does love that’s over find it’s resting place Does it disappear or simply hide it’s face Could it have an address up on Jupiter or Mars For I would search to find it if it hides among the stars
You used to say you love me Make everything so right You made me feel like someone Each time you held me tight But ever since you left, I find that I can’t sleep at night So tell me what happened, I need to know what happened Oh tell me what happened……..to love

Yup, I'm having fun getting back into the thick of things around here. I actually have a couple of lyrics in the pipeline, but I'm trying to pace myself posting them.... In the meantime, thanks a bunch for playing along for the VD challenge. Because it's YOU, I forgive your loose interpretation of the "rules", LOL. I don't recall this song, but it's very sad. A very intriguing premise as well. So anyhoo, nice to see you around, and Happy Valentine's Day!! xo, Beth

Caroll, thank you for this walk down a memory lane for me. This is a road less and less traveled by me as the decades go by. Your voice and words are a perfect combination for both vulnerability and sincerity, culminating in an empathic identification for all listeners. I offer a bit of fun in counterbalance with my take on a timeless Valentine love story. The Princess and the Frog at passion's Peak. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRahe5v3wMs&spfreload=10

Not my vocals either on the frog and princess cut. That is Brent Lewis. At 75 he sounds no older than 30.
