Living in small town America is considered a boring life by many. I'm sure that some of you have been asked "What did you do for fun" or "Didn't you get tired of doing the same thing day after day?" Honestly I feel sorry for folks who grew up in cities and missed the "boring" childhood some of us had. Thanks for listening! https://frettie.com/track_detail/2017

Wonderful song, Marvin:
The wonderful thing about growing up in the Ark-La-Tex... we were poor but we never knew it. Of course we were friends with rich kids and those, like us, in similar or worse economic environments... but we were equals, enjoyed similar things and felt like a community. Seeing that kid holding that jar of fireflies sure brings back memories. Then there was all the fun associated with making home-made ice cream... hand cranked. Having to sit on top of the thing with a towel to keep from freezing one's buns... LOL... so the handle could be turned with more vigor to make it freeze, while rock salt was added to further enhance things. Wow! Those were the days.
Thanks for sharing. Best of luck with it.
----Dave

Thanks Dave for listening and the great comments. My grandparents farm was outside of Rodessa, Louisiana and I had cousins in Shreveport, Waskom, Texas and Bradley, Arkansas. This song was written about those memories. Great times for sure!

Thanks Roy and Eddie for listening and commenting. To answer your question about Frettie, I joined after becoming friends with the administrator Brent Baxter and because it is a good place to get feedback from songs I may be working on.
Thanks again guys!

Nice country song Marvin.
Good professional sounding recording. Hope you are going to share this with the "the masses". It deserves to be heard.

HI Marvin ...
This is a really terrific song! I grew up dirt poor in a small town about an hour out of St. Louis, MO. We always found something to do that made us cry, laugh or do nothing at all and enjoy it, no matter which one.
A very commercial sound. Nicely done!

Jane, Paul & Alan.....thanks so much for listening and commenting. The only period in my life that I have not lived in rural America was during my military service. Once I was discharged it was back to dirt and grass for me. I'm glad you like the song.
Thanks again!
Marvin
