https://soundcloud.com/wabash-cannibal/let-the-leaves-go-their-wayLet the Leaves Go Their Way As a boy I used to cry I'd watch old trees and wonder why come Fall their green leaves had to rust but as I grew up I learned, May rolls around and they return so all you can do is just let the leaves go their way let life have its rest they'll find their way back someday like the sun from the west so let the leaves go their way let the leaves go their way
when my true love went away, I wanted to make her stay like lonely men will sometimes do but I let her be free, and soon she returned to me all because seasons taught me to let the leaves go their way let love have its rest it finds its way back someday like the sun from the west so let the leaves go their way let the leaves go their way when cold November comes, and touches a loved one it leaves only mem'ries for us but as I've grown I have learned, in time all good things return so with courage now I must let the leaves go their way let life have its rest it finds its way back someday like the sun from the west so let the leaves go their way let the leaves go their way

Morning, Robert and Tapani:
I read the lyric first and wondered how it would work when vocalized... and surprisingly, it worked quite well. You kept the song "Country" but it has a modern feel to it... and quite honestly, it's good enough to work in several genres. Thanks for sharing and I really enjoyed my listen. ----Dave

"Green leaves turn to rust" ... now that's a cool line. Sounds so obvious when you think about it. But I think that's the first time I've heard it put that way. Your lyric is terrific ... which all your lyrics are. And your demo singer did a super job in presenting this. I liked the key change late in the song. This is great song and well-presented. It's a really good listen... as I expect all your songs to be. No disappointment here. Best to you, Rob ...

Couch,
You might be a little grouchy at times, but you sure have a winner here--absolutely loved this song, killer chorus hook both musically and lyrically. I really liked the arrangement transitions especially which keep the listener's constant attention with the song. Its really well produced of course, but I would liked the lead guitar volume up a couple of DB on the solo, but that is really nit-picking! Colin wouldn't let me get away with that on one of my songs--you know how lead guitar players can be with their volume knobs, discreetly boosting them a bit when no one is looking..........I'm kidding Colin if your eyes see this!
Great tune!

Thanks Eddie. This was an indie cut many years ago. Maybe I'll repost the link. I'm still pretty fond of the demo.
