Hi folks, This is something that I have put together for one of our lucky members.
I have spoken to Chris (who is a member of JPF), owner of 'Tunedly' an amazing demo recording studio and he has agreed with my plan.
I should point out that I have nothing to do with Chris or his company, except that I have had a few demos recorded at his studio over the years, some of which I will show below this blurb, by way of example.
This was my idea that I put to him.
So folks, here is the deal.
You are invited to add your original lyrics to this topic for a Christmas themed song over the next 7 weeks period ( that's up until 'Friday December 13th 2019' lucky for some lol). This is not a competition by the way, and please no critiques, suggestions or comments on lyrics posted. ( you can do that in the lyrics board prior to posting here if you so wish). Your lyrics can be new or something you wrote in the past....
The lyrics can be serious, fun song or even tongue in cheek. They just have to be about Christmas. and please no bad taste lyrics.
Please could you indicate verses, chorus and bridge in your lyrics sheet as well.
If you already have your lyrics put to music, that's fine to enter as well, and If you are lucky enough to be selected, you can have it done to your original tune, or let it be done with a brand new tune...
On Friday 13th December or just after I will inform you all in this topic which song has been selected, not as a winner, but as the lyrics that they find interesting and wish to do a demo for.
Lyric co-writes are allowed, and if you so wish, you can prior to posting here, post your lyrics in the lyrics forums for help or suggestions, providing that you mention that the lyrics are for this topic (don't want an unfair advantage for anyone lol).
The demo recording will be at least a 3 piece instrument and vocalist, who can be male or female, depending on the song lyrics selected. (If you have a preference, please mention it when you post your lyrics...)
The studio will create the tune for you and all copyrights on the finished recording, (including the tune) will belong to you. (you can if you so wish add a link when you post your lyrics to a melody that you would like to be used). Please mention it...
The song selected demo will be posted here and the writer will receive the demo and the backing track to do what they want with it. (Re-record with your own vocals if you wish).
I do hope that you enjoy taking part and remember it's the taking part that is the fun.
Some basic rules please, and these rules are rules that I have decided on.
1. You must be a member of JPF, old time or new. 2. One entry per person. 3. Must not be more than 4 verses (maximum verse 8 lines) and Chorus/s and a Bridge if you want to add one that is. 4 Must be posted in this topic by Friday 13th December. 5. If you want a particular genre, please mention it in the lyrics posting. 6. Roy cannot take part...lol
At any time up to the closing date, a lyrics post can be changed by the writer or replaced by fresh lyrics (if alterations are made).
This is a link to the home page of Tunedly, Chris's Company, There are 9 demo's there, just to give you an idea.
I will finish by saying good luck and for those who take part, thank you
and for those who's lyrics do not get selected, Its still a worthwhile exercise, and have fun.
Please do not ask me to help with lyrics lol...I already have a finished Christmas song...

Lastly, let's keep this thread for submissions only (Roy already mentioned, not critique or feedback here). If you have questions about this event or if anything isn't clear to you, send me or Roy a DM.

'You Have To Kiss A Lot Of Frogs To Find A Prince'
On a snow day late last Fall, Took my nephew to the mall Let him see the Santa Claus at Sears And I thought how years before, I was out of work and poor So I put on that red suit and beard
Standin‘ with my nephew and a buncha brats I could feel that buckle and the pillow pads Silently I prayed to God and said “amen” That I’d never hafta do that job again
I’d be cursin’ Blitzen…I’d be cursin’ Rudolf How much can a grown man take Took me nine to git the suit off On a ten minute bathroom break Kids were screamin’ for a pony Kids were screamin’ for a panda Now they want iPads and Sonys So get behind me, Santa Get behind me, Santa
Then when we were goin’ home, we saw Santa all alone Outside with a soda and a smoke And I knew just how he felt, in that crazy hat n belt I’d have bet he had bourbon in his coke
It looked like a baby burped up on his suit He kept searchin’ for somethin’ in his boot And he sounded like the ghost of Christmas past When he said an elf had stole his whiskey flask
C Yeah, I’d be cursin’ Blitzen…I’d be cursin’ Rudolf How much can a grown man take Took me nine to git the suit off On a ten minute bathroom break Kids were screamin’ for a pony Kids were screamin’ for a panda Now they want iPads and Sonys So get behind me, Santa Get behind me, Santa
On Reflection I Have Removed The Bit About The Lyrics Having To Be NEW,as some members may have suitable lyrics that have been posted on JPF in the past that are gathering dust.
I don't want to restrict any entries... Good Luck to all --------------------------------------
God Bless to all Roy

Consider labeling your sections, otherwise it might be confusing to Chris (the demo guy) which is the bridge and which is V4..
size wise, this looks like the bridge to me:
Billy how'd ya like a badminton set? made in Taiwan how lucky can ya get? Suzie, you could have a brand new Chia Pet
and this V4:
They got eggnog and cookies that haven't expired lots of old books if you're feelin inspired might even have a Bing Crosby Christmas tape batteries, and race cars, and magic wands tennis balls gone from green to blonde rubber bones for Fido, to keep his teeth in shape
But you may have intended it to be the other way, round...but that bottom one would be one long-ass bridge, though .

Fate doesn't hang on a wrong or right choice Fortune depends on the tone of your voice
-The Divine Comedy (Neil Hannon) from the song "Songs of Love" from the album "Casanova" (1996)
Well, there's always this. Not sure if it qualifies since I already recorded a demo version of it to the best of my limited technical ability at the link below. If it doesn't qualify, at least it gives you lesser mortals something to aspire to LOL.
ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS (IS YOUR FAT ASS TO BE GONE) (Words & Music by Gavin Sinclair)
Outside the window the carolers Are singing Silent Night But we don’t have too may of those ‘Cause all we do is fight ‘Tis the season of peace and love And I’d love some peace but Lord above You won’t shut up ‘bout how you’ve had enough Of me, but you’re still here
CHORUS All I want for Christmas is your fat ass to be gone I’ll drive you to your momma’s, take your number off my phone And all I want to see underneath the Christmas tree Is a bottle of Johnny Walker Black that I bought just for me
When you’re gone, I’ll get out that old sweater You thought I’d thrown away And I got a date with those pants you hate And we’re going out to play My friends will all be glad to see me I’ll watch what I want on the TV And it won’t suck so much to be me Because you’re gone
CHORUS 2 All I want for Christmas is your fat ass to be gone I’ll drive you to your momma’s, take your number off my phone But what is this I see, underneath the Christmas tree It’s an envelope with a note you wrote And it’s addressed to me
“Merry Christmas, baby, my ass is gone Thanks for the present of that big old truck you’re still making payments on I found the money you hid in your hat I took your dog, but I left my cat To remind you of me, wherever I’m at Enjoy being on your own.
(SPOKEN) Well, I really miss my dog, and that cat sure is mean. I don’t miss you though, Baby. I haven’t made any payments on that truck for six months and the transmission’s about to go, and there sure wasn’t enough money in that hat of mine to pay for a new one. So, Merry Christmas to you too, Baby!
CHORUS 3 It’s a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year I’m so happy on my own now your ass is out of here And who is this I see Beside the Christmas tree That old dog saw sense and jumped the fence And came running back to me.
Gavin.. On reflection I changed the post to include lyrics already recorded...Then if selected it could be done with the original tune or with a brand new tune..
God Bless to all Roy

Well, I already have one Christmas song and an excellent demo of the song. So, I don't have another one to submit so good luck everyone. I will probably come up with one two years from now as is my usual luck! Keep writing.

back long ago, I remember a Christmas season my dad always saying things happen for a reason
one year I prayed and hoped, besides a GI Joe, I would get my heart's desire in that toy store window
I said "God, I know you're near please tell Santa I was good this year, and can you ask him for me please..."
(chorus) bring me that red fire truck with the dalmatian and bells and ladders and a siren and you'll never hear me crying if you do this for me you'll have no regrets cause I'll never ask for anything else
Dad got laid off in November tough to pay bills in December mama cried, Dad said, don’t worry, it’s time for gifts went to joe's last chance junkyard scrounged for wheels and truck parts we spent the week fixing, painting, making it look sleek
As I sanded, my daddy hummed his favorite Christmas tunes while in my mind the words went
(chorus) bring me that red fire truck with the dalmatian and bells and ladders and a siren and you'll never hear me crying if you do this for me you'll have no regrets cause I'll never ask for anything else
(bridge) although I knew what was coming I still ran down to unwrap I swear it was my best Christmas ever Many years later, my son’s request brought back that memory. I guess I could just buy it, but my son deserves a better gift from me
You see, he asked me please:
(chorus) bring me that red fire truck with the dalmatian and bells and ladders and a siren and you'll never hear me crying if you do this for me you'll have no regrets cause I'll never ask for anything else I'll never ask for anything else
The Christmas they had snow lyrics copyright David Hunkins 2019

V2
Doc carefully looks at the leg, and declares the turkey done dopy sneezy bashful all come in on the run happy looks at the presents and is happy as can be sleepy wakes up from his nap behind the tree
(chorus) there are christmas tales, song, and lore about each christmas that came before but the best christmas that they all know is the christmas they had snow
grumpy starts to shed a tear but hides it with a snort he asks why are our lives so long but hers was so short doc says its more than he can explain or understand why dwarves and humans have such different life spans
(chorus) there are christmas tales, song, and lore about each christmas that came before but the best christmas that they all know is the christmas they had snow
(fate out) they give a toast to the girl they called snow the girl they came to love more than a century ago.

Just wanted to drop a quick note to thank you all for your participation. As Roy mentioned, Dusty will pick one of the submitted lyrics this weekend or Monday. Very good material here! Can't wait to find out who it'll it be.
This is such a great idea... made greater in light of Brian's medical problem(s) and upcoming surgery. I'm not "in the hunt" on this one but I sincerely appreciate your exceptional gesture. JPF needs a good "shot in the arm" at this moment in time... and this should really help.
Best of luck to all who submitted. I look forward to hearing about the "winner" and listening to the Demo.
Once again, thank you all for your participation and thank you Roy for putting this event together! Dusty picked a song and we just started working on it. Keep in mind, if your lyrics were not selected and you still would like for us to produce your song, we are giving you a 50% discount. Just send me an email and I'll take care of it for you. Dusty was going to announce who the lucky songwriter is, here on the forum but his user account hasn't been approved yet so I am sharing his message below:
Hello, Everyone!
First, I'd like to thank each of you who submitted a song. There wasn't a bad one in the lot!
It would be cliche to say that it was a very difficult decision, but truthfully, it was nearly impossible to choose one! You've all presented creative and unique songs. Some made me laugh, some put a lump in my throat; all were impactful!
Without further ado, I'd like to announce the song:
"There's Something Special About Christmas" by Everett Adams
Thank you all for your wonderful submissions, and I wish each of you a joyous holiday season!
Thanks Roy, Dusty and Chris for this exceptional gesture. I hope the song turns out well, makes Everett a household name and soon to be jillionaire! LOL! Additionally, I hope you guys gain some demo work for doing a good deed like this.
One thing is certain, Everett has worked so hard at his song-writing and genre... he obviously deserves it and we are all so very proud of him. Thanks also to Roy for his brilliant idea.
Thank you Dave, Roy, Chris and Dusty, I appreciate the opportunity to do this and thank all that made it happen. Like Dusty said, choosing one song over another is a matter of taste, like choosing a favourite flower, the beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I rarely ever win anything, which makes this that much better, it lifts one's confidence and spirit to keep going, a little light in a dark tunnel. God bless you all and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Congrats Everette. When I read yours and some of the other non-secular songs, that was part of my decision to pull out. Im not going to try and compete with God!
I had a feeling one of those would be picked. Hope to hear it on Yule Log!
Thank you Roy, I appreciate you very much. There is something special about you too Roy. Of course we are all special in God's eyes, we are His creation.
Hi All, Very, very well done. I was pleasantly surprised to see/hear it come out country. I love it. Congrats to all involved for making this special song/video.
