The Farmers Son

Hiding in the hay fields
Watching the farmers son
Working across the road
Love the way his skin
Glistens in the sun
And how his muscles strain
Picking up a bale of hay
Really makes my day

Streaching his arms
Way up in the air
Sets off my fire alarm
Most beautiful man
I ever saw
Canít wait to get my hands
On that Farmers Son

Day dreaming boutí him
Til I fall asleep
On my mind when I wake up
Hope one day heíll
Be mine to keep
Been out with the boysí
From our town a time or two
Compared to the Farmers Son they ainít gotta a clue

With closed eyes a listening
To him whistle while he works
The way he pitches hay
Takes my breath away
Iíll be his nurse if he gets hurt
When he takes off his shirt
To wipe the sweat from his eyes
I swear heís the reason Iím alive

Streaching his arms
Way up in the air
Sets off my fire arlarm
Most beautiful man
I Ever saw
Canít wait to get my hands
On that Farmerís Son

Canít wait to get my hands
On the Farmerís Son

Well, Glyn, I'm not sure I want to comment until you get those hormones quieted down smile Nice twist on the farmer's daughter. Just a couple of picky things. If you're lying down in a wheat field, you probably can't see across the street. And a wheat farmer doesn't usually ride broncs, thought I guess there may be some crossover. Nice write. Now go take a cold shower smile

Hi,

This is a good write.

There must be room for 'wish he'd pitch some hay my way' in there somewhere!

Nice one.

Phil.

Hey Glyn,

I really like how you put us right there, lying in the field, watching the farmer's son! Bill noted that you might not be able to see him while lying in the field. I also thought that you might not be able to hear him whistling either. I also thought that the lines about "can't wait to get my hands on" might be a little too overt. I mean, I know the whole song is overt, but I thought something sweeter would be nice. Maybe something about "can't wait to be holding hands?"

Lisa

Hello Glynda.

Hope all is well.

Not knowing how this is sung and not being able to "sing" it as I read I came up with the following to help me along. KOS but please let me know if the direction is correct.

The Farmers Son

Sittin' up in a tree
watchin' the farmers son.
Workin' 'cross the road
HIS skin glistens in the sun.
RIPPLIN' muscles bulge,RELAX
AS HE TOSSES BALES of hay.
WATCHIN' THE FARMERS SON.
Really makes my day. [DON'T REALLY LIKE THIS LINE BUT FOR NOW IT WORKS]

Taming that oleí Bronc
was no problem at all.
THE BIGGER THAT THEY ARE
THE HARDER THAT THEY FALL.
USED UP WHAT GOD GAVE ME
AND WHEN THE DAY WAS DONE.
HE WAS WATCHIN' ME AND
ME THE FARMERS SON

As pointed out, there's a lot of "farming" going on. Hay comes from grasses and "nutritious" edibles that are harvested as food for farm animals. Wheat, barley, oats etc one threshed, leaves non nutritious stalks they call straw, used for bedding and other "non food" uses. Then he's busting broncs...

And to avoid the duplicate use of hay, you might say the way he attacks the day takes my breath away...but here's rhymezone's list

I like this one Glyn a couple of good points raised by Bill and Lisa, but I like the way you describe your emotions. It's 2013 and modern country as well as opening country to a much wider audience, it gives writers the chance to spread too.
Best of luck with it
Travis

Hi Glynda.

Do you have a melody in mind? You mentioned that you were going to sing it in your original post?

If you do try and get me the sound file. With your melody in mind I might be able to come up with something simple.

Later.

Hi Glynda,
Happy New Year! I hope you are doing well. I like your song. I think "Hiding in the wheat fields" might work better than "lying in the wheat fields" but that's a judgment call on your part. Also, "And how his muscles strain" might be another idea to mull around. Overall though, I liked it. It's good stuff. Good luck with it. Best wishes!

i can't hardly believe how long it's been since I wrote this song...but I know I need to go through all of them and either save them with rewrites or trash them...so this is the first one i'm starting with....I've already changed some words and lines......and...I have a friend that has a ranch and he was telling me about having to do ever thing on the ranch...it's family owned and they mostly do it all themselves....I hope to have my rewrite out soon....thanks and I love you all........lol

Hi Gly,
Good to see you're still workin' at it. This is very good, great visuals. And it is easy to hide in the wheat fields and peek through at your secret love. And hay he can be growing for his broncs.
