©lunasimone Recording here [/url] https://soundcloud.com/lunarsimonamusic/not-all-heroes-wear-capesv1 It’s too damn disappointing How so many people don’t understand The meaning of being a pointless human A man without a plan v2 Wouldn’t you rather make a difference When things go bad in the world live for what it’s worth? Life may be short or not in everyone’s eyes But to hope the worst will change on its own Is like a shot in the dark CHORUS It may not be easy To put on a smile and make a difference Not anyone can leave their doubts behind Keep your head up high It’ll be alright To be a better person takes a leap of faith Not all heroes need capes v3 A kid without motivation Has no potential at all Once they pull the wings that fueled his own world Of positivity and creativity Hopelessness is now his death His inner infantile is subject to the enemy v4 The crowds the fans the followers The role models the gods the icons All have one thing in common They wanna have some credit But who’s just there to be a slave to hate And who among them are the saviors? REP. CHORUS It may not be easy To put on a smile and make a difference Not anyone could leave their doubts behind Keep your head up high It’ll be alright It takes a leap of faith To be a hero without a cape It may not be easy To put on a smile and make a difference Not anyone can leave their doubts behind Keep your head up high It’ll be alright It takes a leap of faith Not everybody can save Someone will wear a cape.

I try to imagine myself in a cape.... All I see is OZZY in white with a cross on his back lol...
Those are some very meaningful, but highly syncopated and off beat lyrics you’ve got there Simone. Instead of just straight 4/4, have you ever considered stringing together repetitive phrases "out of time" like YES or TOOL?

Luna,
There’s a lot to work with here. Musically, I like the sound and what you have going on . . . though the lyrics strike me as a bit busy and in need of paring down—there are only so many syllables this melody will support, so word choice is paramount. Refining and focusing the lyric will also make the vocal a bit easier to sing, and make it a bit less rushed in certain spots. Again, I like where you are going with this—just needs a little bit of elbow grease to help it shine.
Regards,
Deej

Luna,
I like the your heavy rock concept and even the vocal style you have going with the combination of talking & singing. The music has a solid driving melody vibe perfect for the style of vocals you are doing. I like what Deej said previous to me. If I were producing this with you, I would do a lot of vocal takes on each of the song's sections. I would ask you to look at the speaking lines and exude/express even more attitude. I would look at key singing lines where you're singing melody for improving pitch. With this type of music when you're talk-singing, you still need on key phrase endings to hit the notes on key, else you'll have a noticeable pitch incongruity--that's happening a few times--I know you can do it correctly, because you are in certain areas and aren't in others. Don't let your attitude affect pitch control--really listen to yourself inwardly when singing and not too much to the music in your headphones. I have the same issues at times with certain music transitions--I'll slide one headphone off my ear and put it tight to my head to avoid "headphone bleed." In this manner I can hear myself better which keeps you on pitch much better. Sometimes it may take a few takes to get it right, and give your ears a rest if you're having a problem in a certain spot of the song.
I think there's a lot of potential for this song if you could take both production to the next level and tweak your vocals as I mentioned above just in a few places. But don't be afraid to go "over the top" with attitude also in some spots, think of some of your fav singers and how they would sing the song and absorb that attitude!
Great start here, thanks for sharing, and my comments are "Just my opinion," and you can use or lose, and thank-you for sharing your song. We need some more hard-rock writers around here!
