https://soundcloud.com/gjohnson-2/eternaltwilightAnother song for which I wrote the instrumental tracks and my good friend, Greg Johnson from Davis, CA, wrote a fabulous lyric and did an amazing vocal ... lead and backing vox. Greg is a marvelous talent and has a fabulous voice. Hope you enjoy your listen. Greg and I've done six collabs so far and hope to do many more. I will be over to listen to many of you tomorrow night and several nights thereafter. We're having a new house built and my wife has perpetual doctors' appointments. My time here is limited but I stop in every chance I get. Again, thanks in advance ... Alan Eternal Twilight © 2020 Greg Johnson / Alan D. David, BMI Intro (v1) I still can feel her in the whisper of the wind In the echoing of distant thunder She is gone now and she won’t be back again I can feel I’m going under (v2) She was the only thing that made me feel alive In a sea of darkness she was my light And now I’m drowning in the shadows of despair The clouds of doom have struck my skylight CHORUS I’m in eternal twilight my world’s an empty shade of gray There ain’t nothing can make this feeling go away She’s gone from my life and now I’m sinking like a stone In this prison now I spend my days alone (v3) She brought me colors that my life had never known I could not imagine what that dream was It only magnifies my sad and empty world I’m alone and I’m lost ... CHORUS I’m in eternal twilight my world’s an empty shade of gray There ain’t nothing can make this feeling go away She’s gone from my life and now I’m sinking like a stone In this prison now I spend my days alone Outro

Hi Alan and Greg, This is a very well done collaboration. The music and the vocals fit the feel of the lyric very well and there's something about sad songs we can't help but love. Good lck with this one. Thanks for sharing.

Good lck with this one. Thanks for sharing. Thanks a bunch. John ... much appreciated! It's been more than a few years since your name popped up my radar ... so glad it did. Not sure if you remember, but we met at Bobbie Gallup's Pineyfest in Nashville back in 2008. We were both a lot younger then and, hopefully, a little better looking!!! Great to hear from you! Wishing you the very best. Be safe! Alan

I remember very well. The good old days. The girls say I'm still good looking, if they think I'm rich!

Congratulations, Alan and Greg:
A really nice collaboration... and I agree, that vocal is top notch. Let's hope your collabs continue and you find that magic key to unlock the door to the penthouse where all the big producers hang out.
Enjoyed my listen. ----Dave

Wow. Production-wise this one is absolutely top-notch. The arrangement is deep and mysterious and sets the right atmosphere for both the lyric and the vocal. The vocal is perfect. I can feel the singer's pain. Very cool. I also love the pairing of the rhymes "twilight" and "skylight" in the verses and "twilight" and "my life" in the chorus. This is definitely what we are all striving for. Really, really nice job.

Enjoyed my listen. ----Dave Hi Dave ... Always a pleasure when you drop in ... I'll have some coffee and donuts ready next time! Thank you for those very kind words. I originally wrote this as an instrumental. Greg listened to it and sent me an email asking if he could write a lyric for it and do the vocal. Well, how could I refuse that??? This is the second of our sic collabs. I am so fortunate to have Greg contributing to nicely ... it's a true privilege and pleasure to work with him. Wishing you the very best out there in northeast Texas. It's outrageously hot and humid here in Northern Alabama. Please be safe! Alan

Greg and I thank you very much for that. he's a great guy and marvelous talent. And yes, his vocal is perfect ... he should be a huge star! I did the music but Greg's vocal is the shining star of this project. Again, many thanks from both of us. Best to you. Be safe ... Alan

Oh guys, on an evening I'm thinking of her just way too much & I hear this tune...Goosebumps all over...
This hits me exactly like "Let her cry for she's a lady"
Timeless sound, light the candles & turn out the lights...
Awesome sound

When I used to go out a lot more and listen to music, I would occasionally go to jazz venues. This is a kind of pop/jazz sound that would make me turn and listen. Just to soak up the melody and concentrate on what the singer was talking about. The lyrics sound so "meant" in a context like this.
Nice song.

Awesome sound Steve ... Many thanks for your very nice comments. Greg and I appreciate them very much. For some reason, he and I seem to have a connection where my music and his lyrical and vocal talent just mesh. I'll be posting a few more of our collabs from time to time. he's such and easy guy to work with and his talent is evident to anyone who has the opportunity to hear him Wishing you the very best. Be safe ... Alan

Nice song. Hello Martin ... Nice to "meet" you! Sure do appreciate you carving out a few minutes of your time to have a listen and then comment so wonderfully. I'm just now getting back to JPF and trying to find a little more time to interact after being away for the better part of 5 or 6 years. Again, thank you very much. Wishing you the best and be safe ... Alan
