https://soundcloud.com/carroll-kiphen/the-turning-of-the-leaves-masterIan Jenkins/ music and vocals CK /words The turning of the leaves Verse The passing of the seasons Have brought me to my knees; Changed the way I look at life, The turning of the leaves. The failure of my wisdom. All that I didn’t see. It is all a part of life, The turning of the leaves. Chorus Foolish expectations, Unrealistic dreams. Unfulfilled fantasies of how I pictured me. It’s all a part of life; The turning of the leaves. It’s all a part of life; The turning of the leaves. Verse I look at life in new ways. See things I’ve never seen. No longer have fantasies Of how things should be. I’ve seen the way the leaves fall Like sacrificial lambs. Their death a necessity. Part of a greater plan. Chorus Foolish expectations, Unrealistic dreams. Unfulfilled fantasies of how I pictured me. It’s all a part of life; The turning of the leaves. It’s all a part of life; The turning of the leaves. Bridge The wind blows they rustle. A few fall at a time. I know that one day soon A child will rake up mine. Verse The passing of the seasons Have brought me to my knees. Changed the way I look at life. They’ve got me to believe. Look at me I’m beautiful Though I’m no longer green. I’ve learned to appreciate The turning of the leaves.

This has a lovely melody and some nice, subtle and unusual chord changes, particularly in the chorus. Great job on the lyrics, which paint the picture without being overly sentimental. It has a John Lennon feel. Love it, Kevin

Thanks Kevin. Proud of those lyrics and Ian does them justice.

Morning, Kiph and Ian:
This one has so much promise with words and artistry many "Big Name Artists" would fight for a chance to record. Proud of you both and wishing you so much success with it. I agree with Kevin about those interesting chord changes... all made possible by very special lyrics and a well "crafted" melody.
Well done! ----Dave

Nice chord progressions and melody lines as other have said. Great vocals. I think it needs a haircut - tends to drag by the end and a tighter arrangement would sort that out.
Enjoyed the listen Paul
