Hi, I'm new to this forum, been lurking over on the general board. Thought I'd give this a try. The Timeless band doesn't really exist, just me and my tub thumping buddy "Sam the Shuffle Drummer". Production-I think I'm the only guy on the planet still using 4 track tape - I could say its because I like the warm fuzzy sound of analog...but it was all I could afford and I'm tired of ping-ponging tracks. Will rework later adding horn players from the local show band "Clutch". Thanks so much for comments - tom www.soundclick.com/timelessband [This message has been edited by Tomtimeless (edited 12-19-2005).]

Hey Tom: Listened to "If Your Man Comes Home" and "Saturday Night in South Alabama". Fun stuff - great guitar! Good thing the bars I hung out in had nothing like you guys - I'd have probably spent too much time in 'em. Scott

Aw thanks Scott..you're too kind. I think those two songs have the sitll playing in bars feel since I'm still doing that. I think leaving the mistakes in give them a live feel. Hey "Still Playing In Bars" sounds like a good song to me. I wonder if its been done? ------------------ www.soundclick.com/timelessband

Tomtimeless, Hey, glad you decided to stop lurking around. You have some neat tunes. I hear musically a little bit of Alman Brothers influence in a few of them. My favorite was "My Turn". Cause I want to go fishing everyday, too!! Keep pluggin'. Have a good holiday.terribob ------------------ http://www.soundclick.com/bpficklen

Tom,
I really like your blues style - very smooth blues guitar and bluesy vocal. Bith My Turn and Don't Give A Damn has very mellow and expert guitar playing. I'm glad you've joined the forum and shared your work!

Hi Tom!
I was really groovin to your blues rock thang!
The first tune made me want to write you and tell you that you sounded a little like Dave Edmunds (My favorite ) and Nick Lowe(my other favorite).
Then I listened on and heard the the Clapton influence, and the Billy Gibbons influence... Wow, how much better can you get than to have those giants influence your style.
You have a casual easiness in your approach that is completely your own. Its in your vocals. There are shades of Leon Redbone in there somewhere. You do the genre proud.
I enjoyed the listen immensely, I felt like I needed a beer and a smoke.....
Blessings,
Johnboy

Johnboy,
I've really enjoyed these posts, coming from people who can really play and sing. I've always hated my vocals and still cringe when I hear them. For years I got away with just being a guitar player of sorts. The group am currently playing with decided that I needed to contribute vocals, so I'm now doing about 15 covers staying in the blues and jump blues box and a some country songs.
I'll go have a listen to Dave Edmunds and Nick Lowe...maybe I can get some pointers.
Went out to your site and love your songs. I have a number of songs in various states, some blusey some country, that I truly can't sing. I was wondering if you would consider adding vocals and guitar playing.
Send me an E-mail if you have some interest.
Thanks, tom

Hi Tom! Thank you so much for the compliment! It would be an honor to sing and or play for you. I would love it! You can e-mail me at jmartin121@comcast.net , and we can work something out. I just love your genre if you coudn't tell by listening... Have you heard the song, "I Knew the Bride," or "Queen of Hearts?" or "I Hear You Knockin?" these are the best of Dave Edmunds. There is a sort of secret circle, ok its not so secret, of really great artists who have collaborated over the years in various lineups, and they have all been the largest influence on me. I am rambling so please forgive, but I just wanted to share this with you in case you didn't know.. Rockpile was a band formed in the late 70's with Nick Lowe, Dave Edmunds etc.. worth listening to all their albums, there's only a few. I would also pick up "Repeat When Necessary" by Dave Edmunds. You will love "Creature from the Black Lagoon," and "Crawlin from the Wreckage" Ry Cooder, Elvis Costello, and John Hiatt are also part of this circle of friends. John Hiatt, whose albums are many and very good, formed a band called "Little Village" which included Ry Cooder and Nick Lowe and did two albums. Very different, very good. Big Love is about my favorite cut on Little Village. Hiatt has one of those voices. I think you would thoroughly enjoy these works, and may find them inspirational as I have. Hey these guys, save for Elvis, don't sing any better than the rest of us, they have just written killer tunes and been around forever. Don't be discouraged, you have a great voice! It fits what you are doing! Blessings, Johnboy www.soundclick.com/johnboyus

Hey Sub,
I've rolled those around so much that I don't know what the first three are. I uploaded the country thing last night and will ask for reviews. When I first posted I just threw about 6 songs and posted. So the post says Blues Rock and now the first song is country. The production is not very good - all recorded on tape. Will go back and rework everything maybe one Blues cd and one country. I will email you concerning your production. Love your work. thanks, tom
