Hey ya'll, Song about a little redneck club down at Gulf Shores or Orange beach Alabama...called the Florabama...sets right on the line...surrounded now by high dollar condos...washed away by the last two hurricanes...rebuilt each time sort of...never played there...was going to get around to it...a bit wordy...and was going to replay the lead parts...but tired of it now... t m http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=452552 Saturday Night in South Alabama tom breshers V. Playin down at the Florabama That’s the place to be in South Alabama The best looking girls come from all around And every one of them is from out of town I thought there might be a chance for romance I jumped off the stage I just had to dance C. Dancing around with every girl I saw I danced with twins from Arkansas Danced with black Betty and all the rest I even danced a girl right out of her dress I met Becky Sue, Linda Lou -Tammy Faye – How do you do I fell in love with a girl named Tanya Another Saturday Night in South Alabama V I’m Just sitting in with the Timeless band They got Ronnie and Johnnie and Ronnie and Sam I start a song they latch on to the groove Everybody in the place is startin to move More and more people coming in through the door They’re packin up that old dance floor C. Dancing with Bridget and dancing with Donna Dancing with Loretta and I’m dancing with her mama From girl to girl going non-stop I even had a lap dance in the parking lot We went boot scootin and we did the slide Made up a new dance called it roll on tide Then I met Liz and forgot about Tanya Another Saturday night in South Alabama (roll on tide) V.Inst C We’re packin up it’s time to go Somebody yells uh uh you’re playin some more You better play em good and you better play em fast Or we’re comin up there to whip your ass Then we played five or we played ten Went back to set one and started over again If I keep drinkin they’re gonna put me in the slammer And I’ll be spending Sunday morning in South Alabama

Hey Tom......Loved the music man.....My life takes place at that boogie shuffle beat. The lyrics seem to be alittle out of sync with the beat....maybe too many words....This could be a nice signature tune with some polish!! I enjoyed it.

Louie...thought that title would reel you in...I think it is somewhat rebuilt with part of it under a tent...have to get down there.. Scott - Says a lot for including a nice liner with song lyrics...most likely won't spend the extra cash...thanks bud.. Terry - Funny thing about that song went 4 track tape on the first pass and it was more of a rock song...replayed it from the ground up...made some changes...and there I was back in Shuffletown....then sang it the same way as when it was a rock song...doesn't quite mesh...thanks for pointing it out as Sub usually does...and has just below... Thanks Sub...this is a great forum for correcting things before they come your way...thanks so much for the heads-up on phrasing and melody...I really appreciate ya... t m [This message has been edited by Tomtimeless (edited 08-01-2006).]

Tom-- Of course I've heard this one already....when you see the lyrics written out...your songs are like "mini novels" put to music...good story telling... Hope you are doing well...still haven't recorded anything new yet...have a few to do...too tired when I get home...t-bob

Hi Tom, This songs a riot...makes me think of Asleep at the Wheel ..great dance song and story... Some fiddle or pedal steel would be nice, and a tight vocal would make it a killer song....Sue

This is a keeper Tom! As said above, maybe a few words could be trimed but over all - this is great! ------------------ Rebecca ------------------------ Relating to the rewriting of lyrics --"Son, it ain't done until its cut--and then it ain't DONE 'til its a hit" ------------------

Hey Tom,
The lyrics are absolutely awesome – put a smile on my beak and I think are well suited to this genre.
The lead break whaled and had a lot of feeling.
The vocals could’ve been pushed a little more - more growl and guts if you know what I mean and some of the “glib” could be cut so it sings more easily and doesn’t sound as “wordy.
Thanks for the listen Tom!

Tom-- Yeah, I can hear the comparison to JJ Cale...went in and listened...he's from your "neck of the woods"?(I don't mean Fla.)...Listen to some clips from an album in 1972(I think it was 72)called "Naturally".......you write better lyrics......Bob

Accel - Wasn't going to bump this till I redid the vocals...hasn't happened yet...maybe this long weekend...I got glib...have been singing along and x'ing out words...will try pusing it also...could use some of that...when a song's been around a while it's a little tough to sing it another another way...but revisiting it may be fun...thanks for the on-the-money comments. Nite - Still have some of those venues around here...jams sessions...vfw...couple of long necks sittin on top of the amp and just play what you feel...wish you could come up and sit-in... T-Bob - Thanks...ha..ha...wish I had his roality checks from some of his lyric writting and music... t m
