Night Of The Octogenarians
it was a peaceful night other than the moon was full little did I know the effect of gravitational pull
it became the night of the octogenarians in my taxi along the Hudson it became the night of the octogenarians there was no way I could see it coming
there was Tommy eighty seven wise cracking like a seventeen year old nobody messes with Tommy it's a death sentence, so I was told
then there was Stella and Max the splitting image of my dead and gone grandparents same arguments same looks to a tee, frozen, my gosh, if only there was the slightest variance
it became the night of the octogenarians in my taxi along the Hudson it became the night of the octogenarians there was no way I could see it coming
next came Harvey the leprechaun eighty eight if I don't miss my guess is this your wallet, your pen, your clipboard, your house keys listen Mr. four foot two, the answer is yes
last but not least the ageless Bonnie & Clyde talking parole officer, you see they had robbed a bank eighty six years a piece, trash talking, that stinking so and so we gave the money back, and nobody said thanks
it became the night of the octogenarians in my taxi along the Hudson it became the night of the octogenarians there was no way I could see it coming
full moon oh full moon nobody will believe the night I had full moon oh full moon the men with white jackets said iron clad
it became the night of the octogenarians in my taxi along the Hudson it became the night of the octogenarians there was no way I could see it coming

Hi rittman I had to look it up......well so is this another true tales of the cab driver ?....it's no wonder you have so many great song ideas. Your life is like a running film camera watching it from the rear view mirror. Although, I too have a few pretty amazing stories about full moon nights at the local bar too. Love how you set it along the Hudson. Nice touch. jm

Hi Joice, Thanks
Your life is like a running film camera watching it from the rear view mirror
well I wish, but mostly it's a mundane unevental job, here and there, to and fro, but after 26 years, there's bound to be some interesting moments...along the Hudson.

So this is the lyric inspired by all the oddfellows! I found it! Ah-ha.
This is a nice write, flows along well and is clear to me. Of course I knew the story ahead of time and recognized it, but I think it's clear to anyone reading/listening. The title is such a hoot. I came in JUST because of the title. So you know it's a catchy hook that you just have to know more about!
Good job--and good luck on the next full moon. LOL

Hi Ritt,
I used to have a recurring nightmare that was like "Night of the Living Dead"...only with very old people walking slowly towards me with their walkers, LOL...
Though your title didn't deliver that exactly, it did paint one strange evening for one bestranged--err...bemused cab driver. Enjoyable miniature portrait paintings, Ritt.

Proof of how your disbelief in scientific studies affects your mind...not quite as I envisioned, but an effect nevertheless.....and quite a vision I might add. Bonnie & Clyde commenting on thanklessness was a nice touch ...
If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop

Ritt: Getting close to those old folks myself. Less than a decade to go. I've ridden that road up along the Hudson myself. Past GW bridge up to Yonkers. Are these folks living in Riverside? Love the characterizations. /Glen

Hi,
I looked up octogenarian too, but didn't really need to, as it is all explained thru your writing. There is something to be said for a full moon isn't there? Enjoyed it.

Loved it, Ritt. Based on truth, you say. What kind of music did you have in mind for this? Solid title/hook. No one could pass this one up. It also has an emotional impact and it develops mind images for the listener. I feel like I've been there. Solid, simple rhyme scheme. Still, I wish I had some idea of the kind of music .
