Hey Gang,

The little "songs with the names of states in them" went very quickly, I'm impressed. SOO, thought I'd challenge you a bit more this time.

NOW, I want you to come up with song titles with a NUMBER in it...BUT you cannot use the SINGLE number "1 (one) " by itself, or "2 (two)" by itself (e.g., what would NOT qualify: "One Is The Loneliest Number" -- Three Dog Night).

Let me start things off:

Sixteen Candles -- Roy Orbison
Three Blind Mice -- Mother Goose (? crazy )
Love Potion Number 9 - The Clovers

Have Fun!!

Beth

EDIT 9/9 : RULE CLARIFICATION: THIS IS NOT AN ELIMINATION EVENT. NO ONE CAN "CLAIM" A GIVEN NUMBER, HENCE DENYING ALL FUTURES SONG ENTRIES WITH THAT SAME NUMBER. JUST TRYING TO AVOID DUPLICATES OF THE EXACT SAME SONGS (I sorta purposely left them in random order, yeah, that's it....so you'd read 'em all, yeah)....

"76 Trombones." I have no idea who wrote it. Wasn't that in The Music Man?

And who could forget (well, I almost did) "When I'm Sixty-Four"? The Beatles did that one.

And "19th Nervous Breakdown"? That was by some British guys, too, wasn't it?

Hey Joseph.....

Happy now? I feel like I should list all the number up to a million or something, then cross 'em off, like with the states!

There should be a lot of good ones for this....and HEY, TRY TO HOLD OFF ON THE GOOGLING!!

Enjoy....

Beth

Afternoon, Beth. I didn't know how high you wanted to go with the numbers. How about:

"409" by the Beach Boys?

Summer of 69 - Bryan Adams

Well if we can go as high as we like I'm going for

Nine Million Bicycles - Katie Melua smile

Beth, you get the list up and I'll let everyone else fill in the missing numbers wink

A bit of JPF trivia for you. Someone once posted a version of Nine Million Bicycles (written by Mike Batt) on the mp3 board and tried to pass it off as their own!!

59th Street Bridge Song (Simon & Garfunkel)

Ooo, ooo! And there's an old Dixieland number called "42nd Street." No idea who wrote it--and you said no googling, remember?

"Seventeen" (Janis Ian)
"Sixteen Tons" (Tennesee Ernie Ford)--I know there's been a couple of 16s mentioned already, but it was a popular number
"Nine Pound Hammer" (John Prine)
"Positively 4th Street" (Dylan)

When I used to do a lot of swimming and had to count the lengths of the pool I used to think of a song with number length I was on to help me keep count.

e,g.
You're The One That I Want
Two Little Boys
Three Times A Lady
Four In The Morning
and so on ..........

I'll stop now smile

The Night Has 1000 Eyes? Am I remembering that right?

"Grits is one of those country-boy words that is both singular and plural-like deer, elk and sheep. I think the singular is appropriate when there's a modifier that makes it clear one is talking about something specific. Like, 'Grits are good for you, but these here grits is tasty.'"~~Joe Wrabek
