Howdy Guys and Dolls, Yeah, yeah, I know, I've still got "Slippery Slope" going, but this one came to me while I was waiting forEVER at my ortho appt. today....and I had to get it off my chest! Not the most orthodox format I've used...and me thinks I've got a smattering of yoda-speak...but hopefully, you'll figure it out. As usual, all comments are welcome (except for the bad ones! You see, I'm taking part in this new "Like it or Lump it" Program, which we're really excited about it, and -- KIDDING!! JUST KIDDING! .) So let her rip!! Beth “The Buddy System” © 2008 Lyrics, Beth Williams, BMI When we were young We were mostly ignored Topographically challenged As flat as a board But as we grew older Things started to change We were getting some looks And they seemed a bit strange Until that day when…. We heard some voices, giddy, elated Then we were lifted and (GASP) separated! Hoisted into darkness, discombobulated Our chambers were soft but we were still irritated Rose cried, “Oh Bud, how to get liberated?” Bud called “Hang tight!” ….all calm fabricated But as night came and We’d long fallen silent Some jostling released us Got to sleep in alignment! But parole was elusive Woke to solitary confinement We'd need outside help For this undercover assignment Bound and determined To make our escape We got Hormonal Harry To ask us for a date Chance for a back-seat free-fall Sure helped to titillate He moaned “Let me unhook-em Cross my heart, you'll think it's great!” TAG: At first aghast, she soon loosened us up Now we’re all bosom buddies, hangin' out in his truck

It's not like I've ever had any trouble figurin' these things out (so to speak), but this one's a handful. I gotta take some time with these, er, I mean, this. Yeah, that's it. Crap, I can barely type.
That was too much fun to critique first time around. More later Highness.

Well, that was (shall we say) a hooter. How did you pick the names "Rose" and "Bud"? (Yes, I noticed the reference to "Citizen Kane." I just didn't catch the connection.)

HA! I knew the guys would have some very logical points to make about this one. We'll give them some time.
Shayne, there's always been talking boobs! They go by different names, Tom, Dick, Harry, lol (sorry, I couldn't help it) So, why not thinking boobs?
Beth, this is cute and clever, Rose and Bud, love the names. Finally!! a training bra has had an impact in the development of something! That little flower has seen the light and has someone speaking up for it! This is a different structure, but I'm not sure how you'd get it into any other without losing the charm of the original. Too early, maybe? Who knows, well I'm off to get more caffeine....

Boy, I must have fallen into a time warp wherein ancient memories were obliterated! It took me a second read (and comments by the others here) before I could work out what was going on. What a charming lyric. Heaps of fun. Donna

Hi BOTB, I'm SOOOOO sorry my titty-ditty threw off your concentration! :o Why don't you take a nice cold shower and stop by a little later..? They'll still be here, in all their glory -- promise! Cheers, Beth

Good morning, Joseph, Seems all the boys are up early today!! But that's cool, there's plenty of this lyric to go around.... Anyway, the names Rose and Bud (Rosebud) refer not to "Citizen Kane" (which ironically, talks about a SLED! Hey, wasn't that my last song???), but the sweet term used to describe those soon-to-be-blossoming pre-pubescent little boobies . I'd like to say glad you enjoyed this, but that sounds a bit "dirty"... So thank you for stopping by!!! Ciao for now, Beth

GAWRSH, Mz O...this is SO "Tongue in Cheeky"..
"KUDOS" for quite a Romp of a Lyric! Why, ya know, I've never heard those Sisters "Sing" ever-before, so this Lyric's a "First" methinks!
In the interest of More Reality, heh, I'd have Hormonal Harry holler "HELP me un-hook 'em"---That Job's NOT for "Amateurs"..eh?
Great Hilarious Stuff...tho gettin' Bette Midler to Sing It is gonna be a Lycra-Stretch..methinks.
Good Luck with it/them, Mz O! Big (Gentle) Hugs, Ol' Stan Who Remembers-Well his Harry-er Days

Hey Shane, As I'm reading your response, you gave the idea for the sequel: "Booby Trapped!!" Beth P.S. Yup, that works too Joe!!

Y'know, "Booby Trapped" could be a really interesting exercise. Sort of "I know why the caged bird sings," with body parts.

Beth, This took a few minutes for discovery, but then it began to sink in (as you slyly allude to certain definable elements that slowly give away the content)...all in all, a cute idea for a song! I could see it being performed on Saturday Night Live or something...ya know, it could be a rap song of sorts too. Brings back memories of those old commercials....have you seen the ones they have now?? OMG, I shield my son's eyes! ha ha Thanks for the chuckles, Beth! Kristi

The idea of this as a rap is scary. (*Not*, I hasten to say, impossible.) But--I have to say this--I would hate to see boobies given a bad rap.
I'll go now.

Hey Calvin, Boy, all these nice comments -- my cup runneth over!! To be honest, I wasn't terribly surprised you enjoyed this one. :o In fact, if you were a gal, I'd hit you up to do the music for it (of course, if you want to have some fun with your falsetto, don't let me stand in the way!!). Anyway, thanks a lot for stopping by... Beth

Hi Caroline, Yay, my first female customer! Great idea there, talking about the development angle (hee hee hee)... STILL, I'm waiting for someone to bring up the GREAT line from "Young Frankenstein"....when Gene Wilder (as Dr. FRAHNkenSTEEN) and Terry Garr are outside of the castle, and admiring the huge door-knockers on the huge door, he says "NICE KNOCKERS!" -- to which Terry Garr says with a cute German accent, blushing as she looks down at her OWN knockers, "Zank You, Doctuh!" I know, I don't get out enough....but that's just my sense of humor, what can I say? And lo and behold, it leads us right back to this lyric! Thanks for chiming in Caroline...glad you got a kick out of it. Ciao for now, Beth

Good morning, Colin, Thanks for stopping by on this one.... Your point is well-taken....and I suspect you're not the only one who'd like a "free and easy feeling" !! Musically, that would be a good idea too.... Ciao for now, Beth

Hi DM, No worries -- I wondered if some of this might get lost in translation for you. But just so we're clear -- we're talking about a pair of hooters, who have been "booby-trapped"...and later successfully carry out a plan to "bust outta there". So yup, heaps of trouble and heaps of fun!! So thank you for taking the time with a second read to try to put two and two together!! Have a good day, Beth

Hey Stanerooski, Hey, The Divine Miss M would be perfect for this!! She'd have no problem saying "I thought this was a hoot -- or should I say HOOTERS -- when I first heard it." Well, like they say, from my lips to Bette's ears!! That aside, glad you found this entertaining as well. I had a lot of fun writing it -- and if you must know, our recent exchange about youthful "challenges" is what inspired me to do it. Perhaps I should go back up to the top and mention that....as you'll likely get a few "thank you!"s as well! BTW, I really like your idea about the "help" for the amateur freedom-fighter fingers!!!! That's hysterical. AnyHOOTER, have a great day, and hope all is well with "our" Devil Rays!! Ciao for now, Jackie

I think you'll find this funny. When my wife and I were married in 2001, she gave me a very nice classical guitar whose name turned out to be "Rosebud."
I'll never look at her in the same way again. ;-)

Hey McBrecky! Thanks for jumping on the boobwagon -- I MEAN, BANDwagon!!! Glory be, of all these rambunctious fellers.... Anyway, glad you liked it and it brought back mostly pleasant memories!! Funny you should mention SNL, though....I figured in the aftermath of the election, Tina Fey's "Sarah Palin" could switch over to doing some infomercials....and thought this might be up her alley!! The ads today, gadzooks! Remember there was a window where they couldn't show a bra on a real model -- except "superimposed" over her form-fitting turtleneck? Ah, those were the days... So get this, big bonding moment for me and Sammy yesterday -- we went and procured The First Training Bra :o . Like me, she was half-excited, halfwanted-to-throw-up....and without stripping her down right there, we opted for a MEDIUM...and lo and behold, it fits and she's wearing it today!!! TA-DA!! PLUS, it's one of those tankini numbers, so no boys will be snapping HER straps any time soon (if he wants to keep his fingers!). But I digress...(I know, something new and unusual)... Thanks for popping in!! Cheers, Beth

Hey Barry, Boy, for a song about ta-ta's, this one sure seems to have a lotta legs (where YOU'RE concerned, that is)!! I like, though, how you bring it back to the golden oldie "SIDE BY SIDE"...Mr. Innocent my foot.... Later, Beth

Sadly I've been out of practise with my "lighter fare"....so it was fun to really sink my teeth into this one (THAT didn't come out right !)... Anyway, I appreciate your appreciation!!! And have a great weekend batck atcha!! Cheers, Beth
