You all have GOT to try to get your songs played by some huge venue with a great sound system! Its sureal!

Thanks to Scott Campbell, I got to hear "Opening Day" play at the Phillies Pre game! (Ya never know how those things are really going to play out until it comes time for others to either do it or not, especially when an unknown song unlike all the others they play throughout the pre-game time). And, I bet with the world series champs being hounded by every label to play their song, I think it's really something that Campbell's "Opening Day" song played there at all this year. No small feat.

Thanks for all you Folks who called and emailed about the song. I know every bit of communication helped to seal the deal. Thank you! Thanks to Erik Houser too. Many people helped, and that is what is so meaningful when something like this is pulled off. It's a team effort, taking every bit of all our efforts and others I don't even know.

But Scott Campbell allowed, (begged me), to go! If I didn't take his generous offer, I would not have had one of the best nights of my life.

Yeah, the Phillies loss. BUT, that was just a slight bump n the road. They'll be fine, as they lost last years opener too.

They played the entire song. We sounded pretty decent over the huge sound system! LOL! I never heard my voice that loud or play for such a large crowd as that before! I could only imagine it from being told about it last year. Now, I have that sound and visual memory till I run out of memories.

(Glad my ears were cleared health wise to hear it as is). But I have a feeling I would have went through it naturally anyway. Whatever is going on in my brain for my condition didn't seem to mind it either! Tough if it did! I think I'm cured now! Ha! But at least for the time there, the sounds drowned out the ringing. Beautiful sounds of fans, songs, and hot-dog and beer vendors! And the most beautiful one of all, "Opening Day". It just feels so right for baseball parks! Scott wrote a Diamond of a song!

Two days before the game, I was just going to be outside the gates trying to hear it, as I said before. So, thank you Scott Campbell, for making one of my dreams come true. (To hear a song I'm a part of be played at such a professional and huge event as Citizen's Bank Park, home of my Phillies! And, to be a part of some people's fun with it with me! Wow! Cindy had some happy tears for me. Then she gave me a high five! (Keeping it sports-like). "There's no crying in baseball"!

At first getting there, we stopped to talk to Greg Luzinski, and thanked him for all of us for last years efforts of his giving the CD to the Phillies office. The people we ate with through conversation at Greg Luzinski's great BBQ setup knew of our special night, along with the people around our seats that knew I was the singer of the song after it started, from seeing and hearing Cindy's reaction. They all were really enthusiastic for us. The people around us said, "What? ,,,,That's you? I said, "Just the singer, yes". The ladies from the BBQ came running over to our seats when they heard the song start), being they were just one section over from Cindy and I, and kept looking over waiting for "the" song to start.

It was festive around us for sure, as well as in the park the whole time! The Hook of "Opening Day" turned heads, (as this was not the usual string of songs they were hearing), and as the song progressed, more and more people were paying attention to it. Got a nice round of applause. The end of "Going, Go-Goin Gone" had many moving to it. Fun to see!

The Phils lost the game, but as they did last year. So, it started off the same way. smile

Now, the players just have to do their part of the deal, and it's off to the fall classic! (All Over Again)! I might rewrite the lyrics to that song and see what can be done with it. Also, Erik mentioned I would be listened to now by The Phillies, at least, for if we wanted to do a pump up song. So, we're going to working on that with the 2LT guys too.

Lots to do now, for this summer possible "Pump up" song to be presented, and for the fall one of a remake of our "All Over Again".

Scott, Iggy, Marnie, Roon, Sub, Doc,,,,Get Busy With It! smile
I know I will.

Ain't music great!

Scott,,,,,,Thank you for putting me in the seats!

John

Congrats John! What a great life experience that must have been! See.. remember all those times you were ready to give up? (like the problems with your hands etc?) Who needs pursuing the industry.. by just doing a good thing, singing a friends song for him, you just had your biggest live audience ever and one of the coolest music memories anyone could want.

It's not always about money or fame. It's about having fun, taking advantage of this one life we all have and doing something, not because you're trying to feed your ego, but because it's what you love to do.

Congrats to Scott and everyone else involved. Stories like this really make me feel like the work I do and the resulting effects downwind matter. You always THINK things matter.. but this is proof that they do! Thanks for that reminder!

Midnite is speechless.

This doesn't happen to Midnite very often.

Midnite is sending me more hand signals than a third base coach calling for a suicide squeeze to try to express how thrilled he is for ALL of you VERY deserving Folks!!!

Man, that played out exactly as I had hoped! How often does that happen??!!?? grin

So happy for you, John!

Thanks for the support everyone - made a big difference!

Thanks again John and Sub - you know why......

Yeah Brian, you've made a difference. If not for you I'd still be playing songs to myself in my back room, finishing one and then moving on to the next one. Not even thinking that such a thing was possible because the idea was just so outlandish. smile

I still do that, of course, but now it's just a little bit different. grin

Multiply that by the number of JPF members and, my God, it boggles the mind the effect you're having.

Yeah, do it for the love of it and you won't go wrong. Everything else is just icing (sometimes really thick and sweet icing) on the cake. smile

Whew!

Oh my gosh, you guys!

How cool is that?!?!? You must have been on Cloud Nine!!

I do understand a bit of that (yup, it all comes back to ME grin !). When I threw out the first pitch at the Pawtucket Red Sox game many moons ago (from the mound, thank you very much), they had my name up on the scoreboard, announced my name, etc. Obviously not as big a venue as a Phillies game....but it was a very "heady" experience. I spent the actual game in the dugout with the players afterwards (Sam Horn, John Marzano, a few others that went up to the Big Leagues).... and when I came out, people were asking for my autograph. :o grin I signed them all as Mrs. Sam Horn! grin

Anyway, congrats again...and I'll keep you posted on the PawSox....

Play Ball!

That's a really cool story, guys! John has the most enthusiasm of anyone I've ever seen. Gotta love that. smile

"Grits is one of those country-boy words that is both singular and plural-like deer, elk and sheep. I think the singular is appropriate when there's a modifier that makes it clear one is talking about something specific. Like, 'Grits are good for you, but these here grits is tasty.'"~~Joe Wrabek

Wow That is sooooooo cool. I wish I could have been there to hear that and see it.

And I would have given anything to be there with both Scott and you John all together. How cool would have that been? smile

SEE I knew it Scott! smile I knew we needed to have John sing the song!

Im so thrilled for you John and what you did Scott was awesome. And John besides
hearing your voice all over that stadium.the Wold Champions stadium. And your career and past experiences with the Phillies tossed in for good measure.

WOW! It's like it was YOUR Opening Day! that you FINALLY got to have but not as a pitcher the (other dream) but a singer and artist. And BRO the dude on the mound that day was NO WHERE AS HAPPY AS YOU! No WAY!

Now lets get down to the real important info here:

How did my BASS sound? LOL smile

Imagine if I could only ask and worry about that ONE question? Life should be that simple..

As I have learned and said many times, I'm always so focused on what I haven't done and can't do (just want to be & do better) That I miss out and then get surprised on the good things that I get to be a part of.

For me "personally" forget the playing even, anytime I think to myself I did this in the basement! Same place I played as a child! I can't believe it...

But really THANKS to Brian for JPF so that for more than anything we are all friends now. Thanks to Scott for everything & for taking a shot and sending me the song to produce. And to John for taking it to where it is.. where we could have only dreamed about it.

Luv You Guys!

Thanks!
Peace Mike

I could write a few books if I replied to each post! So, as I am now like Speechless Midnite about all the replies, I can just say these replies matched last night. And I thought I landed on the moon around 7:20PM EDST.

Sincere thanks for continued adventures for all of us! As the recent news of Graham Henderson reminded us all, there are no reasons or excuses not to try "Everything in Music" that we can imagine and have fun with. They either say yes or no or maybe. That's 2/3 of positive odds to work with.

Just Do It!

Keep in mind that Sub's playing and producing everything on that CD is what mainly was heard. One day, we got to get HIM to the ballpark so he can hear himself like I heard him last night. Scott too, for writing the song. I was there for both of them. Scott's amazing!

Thank you all for joining in on my personal energy field of dreams that happened last night!

Now dream something lubricious and make it happen! Just takes throwing darts. (Doing things to see what hits close, then adjust your aim and amount of darts, to one day hit the bullseye.

Now,,,,,where's that new dart board to start a new game?!

Back atcha, Buddy smile

LOL - I can still remember sitting in front of my computer back in 05 reading your posts about making demoes and thinking, "Just once, why the hell not"? grin

Yeah, some demo smile

I keep a mental list of smart things I've done so that I can replay them when I'm beating myself up over the stupid things I've done. Sending this song to you and asking John to be involved is on the top of the "smart" list. grin

Iggy - we posted at the same time this morning. Very cool that they played it on Hometown Heroes! Awesome! Thank you so much for all the work you've done in promoting the song. You're the best! I now have more friends that I've never met than I have friends that I have met. - though I hope to convert more of the former into the latter soon... smile

Picture this: Iggy, Scott, Marnie, Tom Tracy, Jim Calore, Roon, Doc and me all go up to Subs to record something we all can play on. Jim-trumpet, Tom Tracy, (any of the many instruments from around the world that he has. Scott working out lyrics and guitar rhythms with Roon and Iggy. I just laugh with Sub and Marnie when we come up with all the hooks on lead guitar, drums and piano. Iggy adds on organ to his other lyric and vocal duties!

Then we all sing the chorus! (Minus Jim!) smile

Dream it, then plan it.

Number 9. Number 9. Number 9. Nine JPF eating pizza in Sub's basement studio! LOL Gotta do it!

We could record the Hmmm's and use it!

After many years of writing lyrics I finally managed to get one of my works put to music. It is a country-flavored piece titled "Jeannie(I Didn't Mean to Hurt You)." Any suggestions you have as to where to pitch it to, either publishers or artists, would be greatly appreciated.

Hi beech!

I have no idea as to the Country music business. That's a whole other animal from what we did with this song. (Nothing to do with any music business entity).

I would seek out advice from the country folks on the songwriter's forum.

Usually though, it's having relationships with people IN the "music business", (Country or whatever genre), that then could lead to possible good pitching opportunities. (Everybody writes songs).

Work at networking, at the same time you write songs.

Best to you!
John

PS: As to how I first got this song to be played? Local persistent Phillies fan that walked up to Greg Luzinski, (1980 Phillies World Series Champion), at the ballpark two days before last years opener, and just asked him to accept the CD, and maybe play it for the players of fans if he liked it enough. After that, it was up the product, (the CD), to be what could be good for 3 and half minutes during opening day. (The right product for the right event). That, with taking action that is not in the how-to books, got it done.

For the music business though? Learn the "business" of music, and make those relationships. Know what publishers know. Know what producers know. Know most of what the music lawyers know.

Know your business! smile

Brian

Exactly,,,,giving up then partly had me thinking in terms of the music business. How stupid!

I've seen performers will no arms laying on their stomach on a mobile bed on the Atlantic City boardwalk playing keys with their tongues!

And yes,,,,,your work does matter of course! If not just for your own adventures of travel and metting people and hearing all kinds of music. These kinds of stories with Opening Day is just gravy for ya! But what sweet gravy it is,,,for all of us!

Without you,,,,NONE of these people hear would have interacted as thet have, and that's a LOT of stories! You should always go to bed with a huge smile and just relax knowing ow many lives you've affected in such positive ways!

Thanks again!!!!

Showcases, now this?! And I am just one person. think about all the folks with all their projects and adventures because of you and JPF!

Yep,,,,smile big every night! smile You earned it!
