Dedicated to my wife who will have stood by me for 35 years this August! Click Here for the Recording Don't Know Why You Love Me SoUnpublished Work, Copyright © R. Dobbins Vocal by Aarika RavelleAll night long, I've been thinkin' How much trouble I've always been Well here we are, and you're prayin' again Why don't you go? I don't know why, oh why you love me so And as we lie here, you're not cryin' You should be tryin' to turn me away If nothin' changes, oh why do you stay? Please don't go I don't know why, oh why you love me so Dawn comes when you whisper Amen Precious lips rest on mine And then you hold me, hold me forever and then Here we are just cryin', oh cryin' And now the sunrise on your pillow Highlights the lovin' I see in your eyes You should be leavin', oh I realize You won't go And I don't know why, oh why you love me so I don't know why, oh why you love me so...

Very nice. Beautifully performed. Dont know if I would call it country though. Maybe a pop ballad.

Hi Bob,
This was really a treat to listen to! Wonderful lyrics, hauntingly beutiful melodies, fantastic hook, and the aaba form worked really great with a soaring bridge. Nice performance too!
It's ready to go, don't know why it still stays with you :-)

Hi Bob. Your song is very nice. I've enjoyed listening to it. I like the music and the lyrics. The vocals are pretty to. My only suggestion is (and it's only because you said that your song is dedicated to your wife) to have a male voice for it. Anyway, good luck with it, your song is doing well on Soundclick Song charts, hopefully it will get noticed. Nadia

Aarika is my daughter so she made this recording for me. When I find the right vocalist, I will have it redone. Thanks again!

This was so lovely. I should probably be more specific, but really you matched up the music and lyrics so well.

You are very welcome, Bob. your daughter must have inherited her talent from you, she did a marvellous job on vocals and when you get a chance to record your song with a male voice, you'll have two wonderful demos. Your song could be unisex anyway, it's just because of the story behind the song I thought that the male voice would suit it better. It's lovely in anyway. Kind regards, Nadia

I'm hoping I can find someone before August and surprise my wife, who thankfully doesn't read these forums... Or what kind of a surprise would it be? Thanks again!

Your daughter has a beautiful voice. This is a really pretty song. I almost heard it as a show tune. The piano sounded really nice as well.

Hi Bob, Nice to meet you. Your daughter has such a lovely voice. This is very well written and performed.
I don't feel that this would be considered country though....I do feel with a slightly different melody/tempo and a male vocalist, it probably could be. As I was listening....I kept hearing {someone like} Randy Travis singing this...it would be beautiful.
I just bet your wife loved this!
Kind wishes, Gail

Hey Bob,
Beautiful. Are you sure want to change to a male vocalist ? A song such as this ( although written for your wife ) really does need a female vocalist. Your daughter has great delivery. I'm not sure it would have the same impact done by a male vocalist.
A very enjoyable listen.
cheers, niteshift

You are very welcome Bob. I agree with everyone who commented on beautiful delivery of your song by your daughter but I think it would be nice to have both demos - the one you have and with the male voice, you'll have an opportunity to make your decision to which one is the best or submit different versions to different publishers and see where it takes you.

Hi Gail and thank you for your kind words. I agree, it's not really country as it is presented. I surely would love to hear Travis doing it! My wife loves it, she cried. I am hoping to get a male vocal done before August. Thanks again!

Hi Bob, Nice to hear from you! Beautiful song with little to nit. Love songs like this can withstand easy rhymes like go/so if the emotional connection is there, and I connected up just fine. Mike

This is masterfully done, Bob! The vocals are outstanding and the lyrics fit the music like a glove and man, there's nothing like the ivory being tickled just right through a love song. Ahhh... Love it!

Hi Bob: I'm with Nite - this works really well with your daughter's vocal. I mean, we're all primed for a male vocal because we know it's for your wife. But had we not known that, this vocal would seem natural. Of course, you can do a male vocal as a gift to your wife and then still pitch this one. Is a lovely song - yeah, crying is good... Congrats on 35 years! Scott

Man, Bob! That was incredibly beautiful! No matter what you do to aggravate your wife, this song is bound to make up for it. I'd say she's a lucky lady...and you're a lucky man.
My wife and I will celebrate 24 years on Monday. Happy Anniversary to you in advance.

Hi Bob, beautiful. Of course, your daughter's voice doesn't hurt. But the piano sounds very good too. Made me feel like listening to your other songs as well. I'm on my third one so far, still not disappointed . You're very talented, thanks for sharing. Take care, Yann
