Can you write 14 brand-new songs in 28 days? www.fawm.orgGuidelines are here: http://fawm.org/wiki/faqEvery Feb hundreds of songwriters around the globe join together to participate in "F.A.W.M." (February is Album Writing Month). Goal is to pen "an album's worth" of songs (14) in 28 days. It's fun, it's motivating, it's pushing past the barriers. It's not about being perfect or writing hits (altho you never know), it's about igniting your creativity and exploring. Lyrics only, scratch worktapes of songs, instrumentals, spoken word, etc etc etc are all acceptable. What do you win? The satisfaction of knowing you pushed yourself to write more than you typically would. What if I don't write 14? Don't matter. Just being part of it, and maybe writing one more song than you would have, is worth it. The community over at www.fawm.org froths with creativity and inspiration. It's so much fun, it's a struggle... it's sleepless nights, it's so much fun. I love FAWM because it taught me to let go of my editor and take my creativity for a spin, and see what happens. I've even signed some of the tracks created during FAWMs and 50/90s. If you join, hit me up @ add me to your watch list: http://fawm.org/fawmers/vikkiflawith/

I'm doing it this year. It should be interesting as I normally don't write 14 songs in 28 MONTHS.

Dear Hummingbird, Thank you for all the food for thought that you provided me with today. The 14 songs in 28 days is a real challenge. The best we have ever done was 10 songs in a year. What a challenge and one that I would love to take, However I have to get the social networking thing down and I only have the month of February 2010. I hope to watch the progress and participate at another time. You are a good blogger and I can tell that you enjoy it. I submitted a commend on your blog and now I have a google account. Have a great day and enjoy the February Challenge. Cindy

Oh yes! Everyone's gearing up for midnight tomorrow (January 31st). The FAWM boards are rampant now with humour, anecdotes, challenge suggestions, technical and gear-related talk, and already heaps of inspiring ideas! Whatever else happens - and no matter whether you write one song/lyric or 14 of 'em - FAWM is an incredible learning experience. I've got my pens and notebooks (for rough drafts) at the ready. See you on the boards, Vikki and the two Kevins. Good luck with roping in your respective Muses. (I'll be "watching" you. ) Donna
