IndigiMusic looks like a fine company and its owner has some good contracts/contacts from her days working for NBC/VIACOM and SHOWTIME...

Congrats Tom... Best of luck! This is just an opinion. Personally, I don't publicly post specific company names in most situations. What tends to happen is- you announce a deal with a library, many read it and then the library starts getting a lot of unsolicited emails about submissions. Not all libraries mind as many are very open to submissions anyway. But some would rather not get the sudden influx of submissions inquiries. Once again... that's my personal way of doing (or not doing) things-- there is no right, wrong, or "law"... Best Casey

thanks Hummingbird/John/JoAnne/Casey
apppreciate your congratulations
Casey I understand and appreciate your input about your policy about not posting names of companies signed with........but as you say there is no right or wrong way or law to follow.....I always generally expect that any company wants to grow and that I certainly aint the only talent in a group as large and varied as JPF.....this whole site is about sharing-encouraging-and networking of contacts-information in who does what and how to Navigate the Matrix of the music business.....I will specifically email the company and ask if they want the publicity....if they dont I will delete the post about the company..
P.S.-In my communications with this company I did specifically tell them how I heard about them-through a member of JPF......
thanks again Casey
Tom

Tom,
Congratulations. I don't know that anyone shares as much contact information as you do and so I think it's especially cool when you find your share of suceess too.
Best Wishes Kevin

Tom:
So happy to hear your good news. I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons of Licensing because the variables from company to company are all over the map. Re-titling is a strange approach from a writer's perspective and the cue-sheet requirements by some "libraries" seem a little much when heaped on top of contracts with language meant for the folks on "Boston Legal"... lol. Then there is the exclusivity factor required by a very few. Finally, the predominance of non-vocal music seems to be a challenge and must be explored before wasting valuable time.
Keep us posted about the experience you gain from this new venture when you have the time or inclination.
Regardless, I wish you immense success... not to mention income.

Well Congrats Tom,
I remember how excited I was when I received my first Publishing Contract. And a few more over the years. Now if someone would only cut some of those songs! My Publisher friend sent some of his songs to a Library (don't know which one) and they were accepted. I suppose puting songs with a library is like putting Photos with a Photo Agency, or signing a Publishing Contract. I need to look into those Photo Agencys. I have a slew of Photos that I need to sell. Oh well.

thanks alot Ray
am slowly getting into the room as they say.....and while pickups by music licensing catalogs are good-yes the end game we all seek is useage and royalty payments...which still looks like a mirage in the desert to me but ya never know....its about someone wanting your song -to the exclusion of all others-for their tv/film whatever media project.....but I try to keep my eye on my long term goals as we all do....nice to have whatever good news might come along the way to help keep me on the path.......best to you in your journey as well.....

tell me how are ya liking North Carolina after all those years in DC? ...since you made the big drop below the Mason-Dixon line-why not come to Nashville where every day is Paradise-or something somewhat assimilating it anyway-lol.....
good luck in all your own musical projects-as well as your Zen Buddhism meaning of life searches......

Congrats Tom!
I think licensing is the way to go with those songs that'll never make the charts (or maybe they will because of the exposure from licensing..).
We can't just sit around and wait for those Nashville cut's that's getting fewer and fewer, so licensing strike me as a good opportunity meanwhile.
And when you've got 100 songs or more in the libraries that frequently are getting into media, it'll be worthwhile, so that can actually free you up to write the hits in the long run, I think.
BTW - what kind of agreement with Tim and the demo musicians did you make, to be able to contract the songs to a library?

Tom Nope, not 20 inches of snow, but much like N'Town, 3 inches will paralyze the entire area. It's embarrassing...But all in all, I find that it suits me, although I'd appreciate it if ya kept a couch free, because if I ever move again, it will be out yer way. Keep at it my friend! Midnite

CONGRATS, Brother Writer Tommy!
I've always appreciated how ya've Shared your Insight & Contacts, Amigo (tho, I'll admit to never followin'-thru on the Christmas Song for Ray Stevens..heh!)
If anyone ever Really Deserved that Check-in-The-Mail, it is YOU, Good Bro! (Hope this gets Happier & Happier an ending to The Tale!)
Best Wishes & Continued Success, Big Guy-Hug, Stan

Hi Magne
I told Tim and the others that media useage would result in a payoff larger than their demo fee-depending on the amount of money involved ...........Tim agreed to a payoff when he is notified of useage....a one time fee......it also helps promote him as a singer to have more national and international exposures that such useage would bring......though he is already pretty well known-more publicity and exposure never hurts..and of course I am always happy to recommend him as he truly is one of the best male demo singers in Nashville........I cant-as no one can-psychically predict who will use the songs or the money involved when they do..............but he knows he will get taken care of as do the producer and musicians....they all know I pitched the demo songs to music licensing libraries.....and they all want to work with me again on future songs....we are all in Nashville....so that obviously makes it easier......thanks for your post and best of luck to you in your own pursuit of licensing contracts.....
