This one started with a riff and then built from there. I think it needs banjo, but I couldn't get into that tonight. By the end I think I was going too fast! I also fought off a known melody as hard as I could, but the dark side of the force was too strong. (I hope the 1st verses don't come off as too "stalkerish"). It's a 50/90 song, so the lyrics are slightly nonsensical. My plan (maybe) is to make this a "signature guitar" type piece with bluegrass style picking. I may have to consult Ben! Kevin P.S. Roy just posted a super sounding pro demo. This one is sort of at the other end of the spectrum (ha,ha). ******************************************************* Hey Hey (c) Emmrich 2010(verse) hey, hey what's your name walking down the road you're going my way if the truth be told (verse) i know your wondering who i am but your momma told me all about your little plan (chorus) i know i've taken you by surprise cause i see that look in your eyes i'll do no harm, just grab my arm let's see where this road leads (verse) hey, hey what's that I see is that a little dog I've heard that's the best friend to have when traveling down the road (verse) Hey now we'll be three you can come with us we'll take good care of you and you won't cause any fuss (chorus) i know we've taken you by surprise cause i see that look in your eyes just wag your tail as we walk the trail let's see where this road leads (Instrumental) hey, hey what's your name walking down the road you're going my way if the truth be told

Kevin, I like the song, I like the style, and I like the simplicity of the recording as it is absolutely appropriate.
Thanks for sharing

Hi Kevin, nice to meet you. Cool song. I liked the simplicity of the production--a man, a guitar, his voice, and a gleam in his eye. As I was listening, I could hear a banjo part for this, and I'll be danged if Hey Hey what's your name isn't hooking me more than the chorus. Enjoyed it!
Best, Scott

It's really catchy, Kevin. I like it! I could almost see this with more verses where a new traveler is picked up in each one - could make a cool campfire song Yeah, some banjo might be cool Scott

I like the simple arrangement on this one, although I agree banjo could be a nice touch. I wonder if a little harmonica on the instrumental break might be nice?

Hi Kevin
Nice picking and singing ; ) -- yes a banjo would be nice -- is there a Bass in there???
The lyric simplicity seems fine and lends itself to the acoustic folk style . Good work : ) jm

Now that was fun! I would lean more to the harmonica or even a mouth harp. Really nice pickin Kevin!

Howdy brother Kevin. I like the bluegrass/folkish nature of this one. Good simple straight ahead song. Nice job. With additional instrumentation like a bass perhaps it could be even catchier but stands well on it's own as is.

Hi Kevin, Hey, hey, very cool! Your picking sounds really fine. Simple folk works for this. Just the tiniest of nits lyrically, because I suspect you won't re-do this. But, if you should re-record, in V3 you can cut down that 3rd line and it won't be so rushed. "That's the best friend to have" That's it! I got nothin'! Ricki

What could be better than a man, his guitar, and a dog named Boo. (wait, that's another song)
Nice picking on this. I guess I should have practiced my guitar all these years. Can't even come close to that.
Vocals are good. I noticed verse three also. Drop the "I've" on line 3 and it will be fine.
Still playing in my head.
Rick

Hello all,
Thanks for the comments. I am off to nashville for a few days and I will respond when I can (probably not 'till next Tuesday). I have already trimmed a couple of words here and there and will try and re-record when I get back.
