Hey Joice and Calvin. This almost has a reggae feel to it. I like the storyline and melody.

Hi Joice, I've been listening to L&M songs today and you guys really capture Americana. Though the vibe is different puts me in mind of John Prine's character-driven songs. When I first saw the title I thought it was either about the John Hammond, the guy who founded Jurassic Park in the book/movie or the blues guitarist.
Nice song.
Best, Scott

Nice job on this the mix sounds good to my ears. Interesting effects and sounds, and I really like the background vocals JM! Good job on the lead also Calvin, almost hypnotic. I did enjoy it!

I am really enjoying the production on this one -- the voices are very cleverly placed in the sonic field. The music and effects are well done, also -- all in all, pretty super.
I will admit that my very first thought was - uh oh, another draggy tune -- but you won me over quickly. Your vocal control has really improved, it is time to push it into other genres (some mid to up tempo).

Nice job Calvin and Joice. I mistyped Clavin and Juice. Must have had Cheers and fig newtons on my mind.
Very much like a John Henry type of song. Lots of neat sounds in the mix. Love your background vocals Joice. Enjoyed this a lot.

I like the production on this too - it really snuck up on me! The percussion and the way the vocals come at you is really entertaining. Best listened to over headphones I think. Isn't John Hammond also the fella at Columbia Records that gave Dylan and Springsteen their big breaks? Like Rick, I thought of John Henry too Scott

Hi Todd
Thanks for listening and the kind words about the vocal. This is a good example of me following Calvin's lead...... I listened and improvised at first -- then I edited out and re-sang with intent - but I was moved by how he sang the lead. Best regards

Hi Kevin
Well Thanks a Bunch for giving this tune a shot to develop for you -- I often find that my first listening experience is not the one that sells a song to me....... Most of my favorite tunes took a lot of listens to develop that status..... we don't always have the time to give all songs on the board this kind of attention --- if I did I would not get to much music making myself ! So I sure appreciate my regular listeners and the great feedback that you give.!!!
Hope Nashville gives you hope and promise.

Calvin & Joyce, Now ain't this unique...really grows on me as it goes along...maybe my headphones are too cheap, but the vocals could be a little louder for me...or maybe I had just a tad too much rock From the title I thought it was a steel driving railroad song also (John Henry) it tiz the coolest... tom

Hiya L&M, I swear...I STILL don't know what to expect when I listen to what you two come up with. Scratch that, yes I do -- I'm always in for an entertaining journey. I especially enjoyed this part: Working hooves need tender care To keep the weight in tow Very telling! Thanks for the ride on this one...and keep up the good work . Beth

Hi Rick
Well I had to go listen to a Blues Man do John Henry --- Good stuff ! -- I think there are some great blues pickers that could tear this one up like that too...... I like that potential and comparison. Thanks !! Glad that you enjoyed it too ! jm

Hi Joice & Calvin I nearly missed this one, I see you two are still working hard. I love to see what's next with you two. You come up with some great works of art, so different, well done, I'll always be a fan. I actually went back the other day when I was searching for my JPF picks, to see when Butterfly Garden was uploaded onto JPF, Feb1/2009, (BUMMER) it doesn't feel that long ago, time goes too fast, it was going to be one of my picks, cause I just love it, it's so damn catchy. So I thought why I was sitting here, I'd listen to it again. One of my FAVORITES! Hugs Michele Aussie fan
