Stan,
I don't know if I'm taking this wrong or not, but as a mother of a child who died of cancer, this verse upsets me greatly
Such a Lovely GIFT For Us Chosen-FEW! Some Lives ENDED Yesterday BUT..WE Made-it-THROUGH..
Whether I am taking it as it was intended or not, I wanted to warn you that it does not read well to someone like myself and I would hope you consider changing the last two lines.
Tammy

HIDee Mz Tams, & I'm sorry ya read that line thataways.
I penned it as a Matter of Fact: every day there are some who are un-fortunate enough to not "make it through"...and as-penned, we ARE the Lucky Ones...(who by Grace of God ARE) the "Chosen Ones" who didn't remain in "Yesterday".
I mourn your loss. (Yet..as a believer in Reincarnation..I don't see physical death as the Complete Tragedy most folks do.) But I DO see being-alive as perhaps the Greatest Opportunity a living person ever gets.
& No, I don't understand WHY The Deity does give some of us More Days...& others Fewer. (My own "take" is it keeps us Productive..assuming we "Pay Attention".)
Again, I mourn your loss..& I'm sorry you got a bad vibe off that couplet.
Best Wishes & Big Hugs, Stan

Stan,
I understand your intent. There is still a disconnect to me in the message of the song and these two lines, I am sorry, I am not trying to beat you over the head, I have great respect for you, but it doesn't come across well, it would be better to encourage folks to persevere and not to mention the alternative because you will find that most cancer patients don't want to think about it either.
There is a little girl, she was 11, she is the only survivor from our cancer floor, it has been five years now and she knows every death date of every child that didn't make it, she reminds everyone about them, one of them is my son and the survivors guilt, even for a child is difficult to endure and to watch her go through every anniversary of a death is heart breaking. She does do her good in the world, but the pain is too deep, it is not something to take lightly.
I just would like for you to consider what you are saying and how it would be taken by all who read it.
Sorry to keep posting on it, I just wanted to state my opinion for your consideration.
Tammy

HiDee Both You Kind Gals for The Feedback.
I wonder IF maybe this woulda played-better WITHOUT any Dedication..& WITHOUT any Mention of The "C" Word?
I woke up today, thrilled to merely add One-More-Day to my span.
I reflected on how Bin Laden ended HIS up on such a sudden, rather Violent Note..& totally MISSED OUT on all that WE managed to enjoy today. BECAUSE.."We Survived."
I also reflected on How Many People die DAILY from unexpected Car Accidents..Plane Crashes..Suicides..Risky Surgery..and Murders.
NOW..if I've gotta add-in ALL that "Extra Context" (& "Make Adjustments") to make ALL the Survivors of said Mishaps HAPPY, I might just as well scrap this lyric.
But, to add-in a bit of Personal Context, I've got a bunch of Tests Scheduled for Late-May/Early June..to see if I, too, have much-longer to "Beat The Odds" on Cancer.
This is a GENERAL "Survivor's Song"..& the Exhilaration OF Surviving is ALL that's Intended.
SORRY If I've failed to satisfy..on a more Specific Level.
Best Wishes & Big Hugs, Stan

Have fun with it Doc-Migo.
I had visions of a a Happy Melody..with a Beatles' "Good Day Sunshine" vibe running through it.
WAS intended as a Day-Brightener/Still have High Hopes for it.
Thanks for re-affirming my Optimism, Amigo!
Best Wishes & a Big Guy-Hug, Stan

Stan I finished the melody and I will try to work this out in a couple of weeks for a demo.
The artist is a female belter who can deliver the last chorus in 4 step higher than the first root key.
I dont see any problem with the 2nd verse so far. I see it perfect and in any point of view this song can get so many interpretations... the universality of your chosen words is applicable to anybody whether a cancer survivor, any earth cataclysm survivor or any field of industry your in..

Just saw where Lynman is doing the demo on this for you Stan, well well..i'm pretty excited to hear the finished version...so happy Lynman is doing the music for you...this will, and can be a great song for alot of people......surviors and families of surviours......and it can take many interpertations of the song itself...but, as I say, it made me feel very good....thanks again Stan and Lynman..

Hey Stan, I didn't get into thelyrics too heavy since there's already music working, but yeah I agree ,better to not mention any specifics. Better to have a wider relationship--to "Anyone" having a tough time and there sre certainly plenty of those Wy

G'Mornin' Good TennesseeBuddy!
I Like what ya sent in, Amigo..& your Peacemaking Efforts..heh!
OK, It's now IN as an Alternative Verse, with minor-tweakin'. Doesn't flow-in to the Chorus as-smoothly, BUT it's there for someone who'd wanna sing it except-for-what I've earlier penned in..on that Verse That Seems to Not Be Much-Loved.
Me, personally, I'm not really "Battling"-- I keep a Low Profile & Survive, happily-enough Doing My Thing until it's Time-to-Go.
At any rate, I hope..with Your Help (Much-Appreciated) we'll end up with Everyone Happy.
Big Thanks, Best Wishes, & a Major League Guy-Hug, Stan

Thanks, Thanks, & BIG Thanks Doc-Migo!
This New Gal sounds like a Great Matchup...Lookin' Forwards to hearing The Result, which'll Make MY New Day much-happier!
Very-Much-Appreciated, Kind Amigo! Hope all's well in the 'Pines..the US's dealin' with Mississippi Floodin' & many a Tornado as Spring turns into Summer here. (FLA..all I've hadda deal with's been a Ladder Fall & Sunburn...I consider myself pretty lucky!) Been chattin' with our RealtorGuy to sell-off BOTH Clock Shop Bldgs & Retire...which has La Femme thrilled beyond measure. (Me, I just decided our 7-day-work-week's not worth the effort any more.)
Stay Tuned..& I'll always have a Good Word-or-2 for Ya! Best Wishes & a Big Guy-Hug, Stan

HiDee Birthday Gal!
Hope ya had a VERY Happy Day of It, in spite of the UN-happy things all going-on.
And..I apologize if I was Too-Damn-Blunt in that Verse that's buggin' folks. (It was penned mostly to remind Folks that life CAN be very-fleeting.) But not to rub-it-in.
I'm glad you've liked it/Hope Mackie's Sug's made it even-better. Bottom Line, I'm real glad You're Here With Us & Enjoyin' The Day.(I never really appreciated Good Health until I had my stretch of Bad Health.) And Lordy, this getting OLD thing is a real pain in the butt, too!
But there's nothin' like a New Sunrise..to put Wind In Yer Sails! Keep Up The Good Work, Mz G! Best Birthday Wishes, Big Hugs, & a Wee Birthday Forehead-Smooch, too! Ol' Stan

G'Mornin' Brother Wy, & Thanks for Your Visitation, Amigo!
I've gone with havin' a "Plan B" thanks to Mackie & I'll let Singer/Publisher sort it all out. I well-remember Sub's thread on "Writing Vague" & he's got a good point there.
Part of My Point is "Tomorrow" is all in God's Hands, but guess I put it too-damn-bluntly for most of the listening Audience. & if-so, I've had the Thrill of bein'-Rescued by-a-Friend.
And Demoed, by Yet-Another! "Win-Win"... & it made the Dedicatee Happy too...(Ultimate Win!)
So, I start off THIS New Day feelin' pretty good, for an Ol' Guy! (I'll feel even-better when I hear "Retiree" as part of my Job Description...soon, I hopes!)
Many Thanks for Your Kind Visit & Words, Amigo! Best Wishes & a Big Guy-Hug, Stan

G'Mornin' O Talented Bro!!!
Yep..got your PM here..& replied. BIG Thanks for the royalty check...it goes well with my Reality Check...(Wifey & I've decided to Retire/sell-off BOTH Clock Shop Bldgs.)
So...I'll soon-enough have a New New Life. I'll not jinx myself by making too-many advance plans, but am SURE after we've traveled a bit, I'll be focusing more on Songwriting!
(Already pitched-ya 2 more One-Word Titles...in the AM PM, Amigo!) Thanks for the Inspiration..& Perspiration..(HOPE ya rapidly sell out the first 300 CDs..& "Check Two" magically appears in mah Mailbox!)
Many Thanks Again & a Big Guy-Hug, Stan

Many Thanks for the Kind Visit & Words, Bro Michael!
HOPE you're stayin' High-&-Dry this weekend...& ya don't haveta trade that Bike in for a Ski-Doo...heh! (Someone in your neck-of-the-woods oughta pen one about "The BITCHY MISSISSIPPI"..eh?)
We're 'bout to have us a 3-day-rainy-spell here...(& it's been much-needed...) Our sand here sucks it all in...& water table's 6-feet-under, usually--luckily!
Thanks Again for Your Kind Visit & Words, Amigo..& Good Luck to all ya Louisianans as the front porch view gets ever more-exciting.

Please bear with me... Heres the initial demo hope you gonna love the instruments included as a New day unfolds to us http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehZjaWDT0b0Lynman

HIDee Doc-Migo, & BIG Thanks, this sounds Real Good!
I've made a one-word Lyric Change, partly 'cuz I feel for Mz Tammy, partly 'cuz "ENDED" doesn't sound as good Sung as it does Read. So..I've inserted "FINISHED" in its place.
Hope that improves it a bit/Keep workin' Your Magic, Amigo...it's a Winner in My Book!
Best Wishes, Big Hugs to You & Your Singer there! Music behind it all is pretty nifty, too, I'll add! Stan

Stan Im glad I got you with this one...well lets wait until september 2011 and let see what the contest provider will gonna do with this song. For the meantime all your additional input will be rerecorded after the contest that includes the bridge part... The singer is my wife... The musical arranger is one of the best here in manila he arrange mostly commercial scoring... I decided to contact him because the contest itself I beleive is more of commercial value that includes the elements we used.. If this is a winner on your taste well lets meet in New york soon as we both receive the award.
