Here is a new piano single I finished last night. I personally find it interesting as I consider it not having a chorus, just verse and bridge. And a mix of happier C chord with sadder Am chord. I can't tell whether it's a happy or sad song. Does it improve your mood or does it make you feel blue? TAKE 1: http://www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_80489184/25/2011Thanks to Sam's suggestion, I'm back with my 2nd attempt. Hopefully it sounds better this time TAKE 2: http://youtu.be/Ux8UGnzoaYcI also added lyrics for it. It's kind of a tribute song for those missing someone to the tsunami and not knowing whether they are alive. HARBOR AND ANCHOR Day by day Day by day In the harbor all alone Looking out into the sea Day by day Day by day In the harbor all alone Waiting for you to be home This hope is the anchor in my heart That keeps me from driftin' to the sea Day by day Day by day In the harbor all alone Looking out into the sea Day by day Day by day In the harbor all alone Wishing for you to be home This hope is the anchor in my heart Its weight drowning me into the sea Day by day Day by day In the harbor all alone Looking out into the sea Day by day Day by day In the harbor all alone Wondering if I should go home But I harbor this hope in my heart For you are my anchor on the sea Day by day Day by day In the harbor all alone Waiting for you to be home (c) Leo Lie, 2011.

Neither, it sounds like an piano exercise. My guess is that if you put the mood you are experiencing into the song, both you and your audience will have the answer.

Cool, play your emotions and then re-post it. It should be interesting to see what you come up with.

Hello Leo. I find it uplifting and was hearing a vocal with it. I call it "Hear With Me"
Nicely done and again you floor me with you telling me you are self taught.

Douglas Hey Doug, thanks for liking it! Ironically, my 2nd attempt has made the mood more somber, but it kind of fits the lyrics.

Hi Samuel, here's my 2nd attempt: http://youtu.be/Ux8UGnzoaYcHopefully you don't feel like listening to piano exercise anymore Note: For some reason soundcloud encoding made the chord on first verse less audible.

Your playing matches the lyric perfectly so it is easy to follow and sing along, you might have to change that if you add a vocal as it might come across as a bit monotonous, I'd try getting a bridge in there to change things a little, all in all though it's a nice piece of music,
Tony.

Thank you very much for listening Tony! I will keep those advices in mind when I get someone to sing my song. Can't sing 3 octaves myself I've made a video on YouTube for sing-along though http://youtu.be/Ux8UGnzoaYc

Leo,
I think this is beautiful because it came from your heart, very nice music and sentiment.

Leo,
I re-listened and sang though it and this line:
Waiting for you to be home
can be sung "waiting for you to be home with me" or "waiting for you to come home to me"
It is a little high register for me, but still very beautiful.
Tammy

Reminds me of Springsteens "Your Missing"....at least I think that's what it's called This is a lovely melody but I would prefer to hear the lyrics sung with it. Also (and JMO)having no chorus is a real big negative here. Moving to the F to begin a chorus seems an easy thing to do and, honestly, with this being about looking out into the sea with a heavy heart, thoughts and feelings about a lost love or a lost family member, writing a 4 to 6 line chorus should come easy. As mentioned, lovely melody, but let's hear the song.

Tammy
Really? Perhaps I'm too used to one note per syllables in all my songs, I can't quite get "waiting for you to be home with me" to fit the 7 notes I have for that line Thanks for listening again, by the way!
