http://www.reverbnation.com/doughealeyThe old I'll do this... if you'll do that.. senario...in a blues... Lift My Hands (c)2012 It was such a lovely day I thought I'd take a ride in a boat that I just bought from a friend in Ocean Side about a mile from shore water started gushin' in sharks were all around and I don't know how to swim if somehow Lord You help me get my feet back on dry land forever till the end of time I will always lift my hands - The boat was goin' down so fast I had no time to think anything not fastened down I threw it in the drink I'd never been a prayin' man this I must confess but now I'm prayin' really hard Lord save me from this mess and if somehow You help me get my feet back on dry land forever till the end of time I will always lift my hands - And now I lift my hand up to Jesus Christ up to Jesus Christ I'm gonna lift my hands I'm gonna lift my hands up to Jesus Christ up to Jesus Christ I'm gonna lift my hands I'm gonna lift up my hands to Jesus Christ I will lift my hand - About the time I saw my life flashin' through the past while hangin' on with all my might to the cold steel of the mast I heard a sound so faint at first growin' louder in the dark a search-light shown around the boat and lit upon a shark if somehow Lord You help me get my feet back on dry land forever till the end of time I will always lift my hands - And now I lift my hand up to Jesus Christ up to Jesus Christ I'm gonna lift my hands I'm gonna lift my hands up to Jesus Christ up to Jesus Christ I'm gonna lift my hands I'm gonna lift up my hands- lift up my hands - lift up my hands to Jesus Christ I will lift my hand... (spoken) thank You Lord....I was shark bait...Where did you get that boat from anyway??? I guess You can do anything..You"re God...ha ha ha....whew that was a close one

Fun tune, good vocal delivery -- sort of Tom Jonesy. Great vocal chorus, too. Good instrumentation throughout - pretty cool stuff.
A more common "secular" theme would be to promise "if I get through this, I'll ..." -- and then once you get through it you forget about the promise ... until the next time and "if I get through this, I'll ..."

Digging it, Doug. Certainly no issues with the performance - it was superb. I would have liked to seen a little more pay-off in the story. But then, I like story songs. The spoken outro DID give it a little punch though at the end. Scott

Nice, soulful groove, Doug. I love the performance. I get the Tom Jones vibe too.

Doug,
Wow, that is groovin!! Great song, I agree with the Tom Jones sound of it, but it is very uplifting and enjoy the vocal and chorus.

Wow is right Doug, I've been gone awhile. I remember another one of your songs--I guess I'm gonna half to become a fan--yikes, that's what you do when you can't see anything wrong! Great lyrics, music, story, arrangement, and performance!
