Hey All

Looking For True Happiness

http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=4041527

I feel the need to make a change
To day is a bore ev ery week’s the same
I need to travel, get a way from this mess
I’m look in for that place—and they call it—true hap pi ness

I know you’re think in’, here you go a gain
Don’t jump in the wa ter-if you ain’t gon na swim
Don’t climb that moun tain-if you don’t want to fall
Don’t place that bet-if you ain’t gon na call

It’s not the same for every one, you see
For some it’s mon ey, fame and be ing on tv
Or some one to treat you like you’re the best
Hey, I’m looking for that place—and they call it—true hap pi ness

They say you got ta look be fore you leap
Give it some thought-Pray for your soul to keep
crawl before you walk and think before you talk
And get a lit tle burn ed-be fore you learn a bout love

I heard it’s over the moun tains and beyond the sea
In a se cret val ley, hid den a mong the trees
Far re moved from all of the rest
I’m look in for that place—and they call it—true hap pi ness

Inst

Well you know I GOT to GET a way
Go ing a ROUND in cir cles-I JUST can’t stay
I need to RUN, you know THAT I WILL con FESS
That I’m look ing for that PLACE-
And they call it---TRUE hap pi ness

Tom, I really enjoyed this song, it had an late 60's or early 70's feel (I don't mean the mainstream pop of that time) for me--which I dig.

"Cool," is the best word to descibe this song. To me it has a blend of "pop" & blues." The tempo keeps it a little more "blues/pop" for me--you kind of put me in the mind of "The Kink's" lead singer. If you slowed it down a bit, (not saying that you should) it could be a powerful blues tune kind of Clapton-esk. You could even add a sax and some brass and take it in the direction of "The Paul Butterfield Band." It's good as is, but I like exploring the different possibilities with music. I really like the song, good luck with it!

steady-eddie.

Eddie,
I enjoy your music and your posts to other songs. You really give it some thought.

Late 60's or early 70's feel?
Make sense, I was playing in the 70's and is my favorite music period.

Kink's Ray Davies, cool liked him, He wasn't that great of singer either... laugh I'm really a fan of JJ Cale...not such a great singer but what a great player and writer. Paul Butterfield? What a neat idea.

This is an old song, never cared for it that much, think the lyrics are sappy and hate my vocals, but have found that it kinda grows on me over the years.

I recorded it on a 4 track casette recorder and transfered to audicity and sent to Sub who enhanced it...so I don't have masters, although I really like your ideas and may just start it from scratch using BIAB or something like that...

I do have a sax-playing friend (still playing) who played in the Air Force show band most of his life, who has said he would do some tracks for me.

You kinda got me thinking here...so thanks for the listen for your insights.
tom

Hey Mackie,
My lyrics always need trimming...too much to say and not enough time to say it laugh

Thanks for listening to some other songs out on soundclick...I was afraid they were going to kick me off due to a general lack of interest. grin

Sappy? No way Brother.
I think it's sort of a laid back Zut Suit... Stray Cat Strut... cool.

I think the lyrics fits the period perfectly and the music is right on point.

Hey maybe it's me but I'm singing along and I think you can make all the words fit right in the groove.

I hope you buddy lays down some sax for you and you take the song another step forward.

I like it.

Oh yeah...Pleased to meet cha.
