Any comments about this site MusicXray?
You'll pay a fee to MusicXray, and a fee direct to the music producer, industry professional. in my view, that's robbery.
Imagine applying for a job and the employer charges you just to interview. I imagine one could make a good living just charging people to interview them.
That's the crime this outfit is doing to songwriters. They say they are doing good for songwriters, but for every song that might get published, thousands get ripped off.
i think the $4 fee to MusicXray is just, that's like an agent's fee, but paying the publisher $10 or so just to listen to your song? That's robbery. What in essence is happening is that songwriters are now a profit center for publishers.
That's frickin' insane and just wrong. There ought to be a law. Broadjam doesn't charge and pay to the publishers, jsut charges you for their service, as agent. That's as it shoud be, and it's similar to Taxi ( in fact, Broadjam used to be part of Taxi ). But, the downside to Broadjam is that there are far fewer producers/publishers on that platform than there are on MusicXray. Makes sense, MIPs ( music industry pros ) make money on MXR, but not on broadjam. There just is no integrity in this business. If I were a record company, or a publisher, I would be morally opposed to charging songwriters just to audition their music. I would see it as part of doing business just as employers have HR departments.
Songwriters are getting ripped off and something ought to be done about it.
