LAST MINUTE LADY
copyright, 2002 by Bill Payne

She’s my last minute lady - always on the run
she’s always in a hurry - to get it all done
so she can be with me - and we can take our time
and savor every moment - our poems all in rhyme

Yeah, she’s my last minute lady - she’s always on the go
tempting fate, she’s always late - no peace with status quo
and then she’s in my arms - time stops for us, the world goes by
fading reasons why we’re here - it doesn’t really matter why

(bridge)
She’s going to the store
then going’ back for more
and reading from her book
just before she goes to work
of course there’s always laundry
and always cooking too
do the dishes, iron that shirt
run the vacuum, get that dirt

Yeah, she’s my last minute lady - always on the move
avoiding the sandman - who bumps her from her groove
candle burning at both ends - toward the middle, ‘till it dies
always doing things for others - ‘till it shows there in her eyes

Yeah, she’s my last minute lady - she’s always on the go
tempting fate, she’s always late - no peace with status quo
and then she’s in my arms - time stops for us, the world goes by
fading reasons why we’re here - it doesn’t really matter why

A New Year Song...

LESSONS LEARNED

Knapsack strapped upon my back
Mud-caked shoes to boot
Features carved by sweaty tracks
Plastered tan and soot
Furtive glance over my shoulder
My feet have stopped their tread
Now suddenly I'm growing bolder
I square around instead
And view the road into the past…

It’s a road of lost beginnings
Snaking into the sun
And I'm weighing up my winnings
And my heartaches one by one
I can see the hills and valleys
The hard and lonesome miles
Milestones mark the fits and dallies
And I'm all tears and smiles
Another year’s gone by so fast…

Chorus:
I've been high, and I've been low
And I've been lost inside the flow
There’s been life, and there’s been death
And change so fast, I'm out of breath
I've seen truth, and I've seen lies
And I've been taken by surprise
I've been wounded, I've been burned
But I'm thanking God for lessons learned.

I've drunk my fill of memory, and
I leave the past behind
Turn to build a monument
A marker in my mind
The road ahead is endless still
With forks to choose between
And hills to climb, and storms to kill
And shabby trails to clean
And miles to go before I sleep
And miles to go before I sleep…

(Repeat Chorus)

Bridge:
So many ups and downs, you’d think of roller-coaster rides
But I have walked the world and I have grown
To see the footprints of Another keeping time beside
I never have to face the road alone…
So bring it on!

(Repeat Chorus)

At The End Of The Day
Timothy A. Perry © 2003

Verse 1:
I remember when our love grew fast,
Like new grass on the hill.
(You said) "Love me more, right to the core,"
I smiled and said, "I will."
But somehow understanding seemed to wither on the vine
A subtle drought of carelessness, deepened over time.
Instead of sowing seeds of trust to bloom in later years.
We cultivated anger's weeds....and harvested the tears.

Chorus 1:
At the... end of the day, with love slippin' outta sight.
Remember, in our vows we said, "I do," and not "I might."
I don't believe in giving up, but how do I stop the pain,
When I know that I still love you, at the...end of the day.

Verse 2:
Since when did forgiveness
Become something we once had?
(You'd say) "You're too loud and way too proud."
I'd snarl and say, "Too bad."
It hurts to think how many reasons we've both found to fight
How many times we couldn't find a kiss to say goodnight.
Instead of carving testaments of love into a tree.
We turned the blade against ourselves...and watch the other bleed.

Chorus 1:
At the... end of the day, with love slippin' outta sight.
Remember, in our vows we said, "I do," and not "I might."
I don't believe in giving up, but how do I stop the pain,
When I know that I still love you, at the...end of the day.

Bridge:
I will not go down quietly. I will not play the part
Of one content to live with this silence of the heart
My hope will not die easily, it rises with the sun.
But can we find forgiveness before all is said and done?

Chorus 2:
At the... end of the day, when anger rules the night.
Remember, in our vows we said, "I do," and not "I might."
I don't believe in giving up, but how do we stop the pain?
I think It starts with an "I love you," at the...end of the day.

My Dream of Peace
© 2003 Marla Reid

Freedom is what God gave us as His first gift to man
But it’s been a struggle to keep that gift since then
The hunger for control is seen throughout history
With war and persecution and abusive slavery
So I thank God for the ones who have stood for what is right
But the price of their own blood is hard to justify

So I’m caught in the middle of this time of war
Still knowing that freedom is worth fighting for
And a world that’s united from sea to sea
With love for each other
It’s my dream of peace

We could ask the question who’s right and who is wrong
And even contemplate why we just cannot get along
But hate can permeate the hearts of men and make them fear
Nations rising up in anger with the sword and spear
But I thank God for His promise of peace that’s yet to come
Until that day I’m praying we’ll learn to live as one

So I’m caught in the middle of this time of war
Still knowing that freedom is worth fighting for
And a world that’s united from sea to sea
With love for each other
It’s my dream of peace

It’s my dream of peace
I’m dreaming of peace
Won’t you dream with me

HOW CAN SHE BE SO MEAN?

My baby went ridin on an Amtrak yesterday.
Left me a letter, didn’t have a thing to say.
I’m the fool who’s left standin alone on the scene.
How could she act so, how could she treat me, how could she be so mean?

Took my money then she took the morning train.
Stole my love and I know I won’t see that again.
House is empty except for a can of sardines.
How could she act so, how could she treat me, how could she be so mean?

Feel like I’m soakin wet and standin in a draft.
I read her letter twice, I cried til I laughed.
Walkin around I’m like a man in a maze.
How could she treat me this way?

Love that girl with all my heart and soul.
She’s the kind of woman makes a half-man feel whole.
Thought nobody could ever come in between.
How could she act so, how could she treat me, how could she be so mean?

Feel like this old guitar, strings all out of tune.
Reachin for my baby just like reaching for the moon.
Left her door key, a pair of muddy shoes
And me walkin around with the blues.

Love my baby, you know I want her back.
And, then again, I hope her train runs right off the track.
Goin crazy, my mind like a broken machine.
How could she act so, how could she treat me, how could she be so mean?

She's My Virtual Woman
(c)By John G. Parker

You won't believe the woman I met
Out surfin' on the Internet
Finest piece of software, you ever did see
She stole my heart first time we interfaced
We fell in love at a torrid pace
She's the prettest thing in virtual reality

Chorus
She's my dreamweaver, Queen of the Nile
Sweetest memory in my computer files
Lot more fun than video on demand
She's my virtual woman
I'm her virtual man

I leave work on time without fail
Rush right home to check my email
Cause every night's a brand new fantasy
We might meet in Maui or rendevous in Rome
Our fingers do the walking we never leave home
It's a modern romance, we're dating digitally

Chorus

She's got a hold on me I can't pull away
I'm spending 10 hours online everyday
If the power ever fails, it'll be the end of me
Cause she and I are gonna find a little place
Somewhere out there in cyberspace
Where we can live, interactively

Chorus

Learn To Trust

There is a path I must follow,
Filled with Joy, filled with sorrow.
All things must happen for a reason,
Just like the changing of the seasons.

I wonder often how I fit into this plan,
Trying to place my life in his beloved hands.
It don't come easy to let go,
Like a flower I must flourish, I must grow

Refrain:
Its not has easy as it sounds,
Trying to keep my feet planted on the ground.
I cry for help I feel my prayers go unheard.
My spirits restless so I cannot hear his words,
Grasping for something that I'm longing to hold,
Learn to trust is what I'm told.

I sit and wonder why it is I am afraid,
Expections that I, myself have made.
His embrace of Love relieves the pain in me,
He whispers my child let go your free.

He waits with patience as I wander astray,
In gentle breezes I hear him call my name.
I answer Lord I can't hold on,
Its for you I died you must be strong.

Refrain
Its not as easy as it sounds,
Trying to keep my feet planted, on the ground
I cry for help I feel my prayers go unheard.
My spirits restless so I cannot hear his words.
Grasping for something that I'm longing to hold.
Learn to trust is what I'm told
Learn to trust is what I'm told.......

That’s What God Looks Like
Lyric © 2002 Greg C. Brown

V1
Last night I tucked my daughter into bed
And listened as she said her evening prayer.
“God bless my friends and family,” she said,
“And thank you, God, for always being there.”

V2
I kissed her cheek and pulled the blankets up,
But just as I was turning out the light,
She sat up on one elbow and she asked,
“Daddy, do you know what God looks like?”

PRE CHORUS
I stood there in the darkness scratching my head,
After just a moment this is what I said…

CHORUS
God looks like the clouds that kiss the sun,
He looks just like the fishes in the sea.
His face reflects the light of everyday,
I think He looks a bit like you and me.
God looks like the roses when they bloom,
The painted leaves of autumn when they fall.
You’ll see Him in the laughter of true friends
Because He looks a little like us all.

God resembles all that’s good and right,
Darling, that’s what God looks like.

V3
I tiptoed down the hall back to my den
And thought about the things I’d said to her.
I smiled and said a grateful prayer myself:
Thank you, God, for giving me the words.

REPEAT CHORUS
God looks like the clouds that kiss the sun,
He looks just like the fishes in the sea.
His face reflects the light of every day,
I think He looks a bit like you and me.
God looks like the flowers when they bloom,
The painted leaves of autumn when they fall.
You'll see him in the laughter of true friends
Because he looks a little like us all.

God is red and yellow, black and white,
Darling, that’s what God looks like.

BRIDGE
I heard her talking to her dolls
With the wisdom of a child.
She told them God looks like the things
That make you smile.

God resembles all that's good and right,
Darling, that's what God looks like.

TITLE: When I Asked God For A Daughter

Note: This is taken from a real newspaper article I read a few years ago.

<VERSE 1>
I walk into the break room
Sit to rest my feet
Pick up the daily newspaper
And grab a bite to eat
In the Extra! section
A picture of a woman feeding
Her disabled grown child
I wonder if she wishes things were different
But the story makes me smile
She said…

<CHORUS>
When I asked God for a daughter
There were no strings attached
There is no limit to how far
My love will last

<VERSE 2>
A buddy sits down beside me
Starts tellin’ me his struggle to get through the day
A messy divorce with a custody battle
Heavy on his mind it weighs
He’s risked everything to save his daughter
From a drunken mother and her life of lies
I’m amazed at his courage
And like the woman in the story
That’s some force that moves his life

<CHORUS>

<BRIDGE>
The heartache and the sacrifice
The reward maybe just a smile
Responsible for another’s life
We forget ourselves for awhile

<VERSE 3>
Push back from the table
Throw the trash away
Walk off to finish my day
Through the tedium my thoughts keep drifting back
To what that woman had to say
If it was me I think I’d be bitter and complain
About what fate had cast my way
But this women shows there is no greater love
She lays her life down for a friend

She said...

<CHORUS>

<ENDING TAG>
When we ask God for our children
There are no strings attached
There is no limit to how far
Our love will last....

Hypnotic Paradise
Verse 1
Hemmingway on the shelf but she hasn’t got the time,
there’s a fashion statement to be made at the local wine and dine.
With a Betty Davis’ attitude and a voice like Lauren Bacall,
she makes the scene with 14 drinks, desensitized to it all.
The waiter’s wearing Lucky Strikes and smoke rings in his hair,
he tries to gain her confidence with a phony James Dean stare.
He serves a tray of images to fit her self esteem,
she can sample each one before she picks how she’d like to be seen.

Ohh, it’s a long way, back home.
Facing the illusions all alone.

Chorus:
It’s a Hypnotic Paradise, all’s not what it seems
You think you know what’s going on, but there’s more behind the scenes.
The streets are filled with mirrors and masks,
you see what they want you to see.
It’s a Hypnotic Paradise, you’ve become what they want you to be.

Post Chorus: (always done 4 times )
Oh oh oh oh, take me home. It’s a Hypnotic Paradise

Verse 2
The walls are filled with 8 by 10’s of ‘please remember me’s,
that look like what Rod Serling saw in a made for TV dream.
The closets are now opened up and repression poured in,
screaming out defiance and professing no sins.
The gatekeeper’s bed posts are now bowed from the strain,
he’s become so open minded that it’s flattened out his brain.
His daughter now bears kids for the all star football team,
and his son is selling secrets to a third world death regime.

Ohh, it’s a long way, back home.
Facing the illusions all alone

Repeat Chorus:
Repeat Post Chorus:

Verse 3
The mayor’s bending over in the corner making a deal,
to take money from the kid’s school fund and give it to Lucille.
Who’ll give it to her uncle’s friend across the state line,
and bring back another factory and votes for election time.
A ghost is sometimes heard telling stories about the songs,
that Roy Buchanan and Danny Gatton played all night long.
There’s an angel with an old blues harp waiting outside the door,
singing tunes about the ones never heard from anymore.

Ohh, it’s a long way, back home.
Facing the illusions all alone.

Repeat Chorus:
Repeat Post Chorus:

OVER AND DONE
by Gary Pirtle

Well I'll be damned, slammed m' hand right in the truck door
And in my pain exclaimed your name, you dirty "what-for"
Yeah, these broken bones do hurt, but the pain has only just begun
It's hard to believe that it's over and done

The fog is every bit as thick as smells out on the farm
The headlights just can't see and the wipers both need arms
I can't stop thinkin' 'bout you, haven't noticed the sun
Lord I think it sorta feels like it's over and done

(1st Chorus)
Well it's over and done, yes it's over and done
I repeat it to myself, though it's got me on the run
I keep fighting back your visions, I declare this ain't no fun
Guess it's over and done, girl, it's over and done
(end chorus)

I know nothin' stays exactly like the way it was before
Put the pedal to the metal and my foot went through the floor
To my scorching sole a pothole, oh and how that ankle tore
Yep, its over and done, and I can't handle too much more!

Hey there Officer, I swear I could walk fine a while ago
And my blood-soaked hand & arm are due to things that you don't know
As for the screams and burning rubber, look, my foot is blistered too
You see it's over and done, and my life feels like it's through!

(2nd Chorus)
Yes it's over and done, boy, it's over and done
I'm takin' you downtown, and you'd best not try to run
If the biggest liar takes the cake, you surely are the one
Spare me all the bad theatrics, boy, it's over and done
(end chorus)

I was starin' at my cellmate when I thought I smelt your hair
I was gettin' really nervous, 'til I saw you standin' there
Knew the Lord was smilin' on me when the warden set me free
It was over and done, my love had come to rescue me

My elation towards the situation didn't last for long
You assured me any thoughts I had were absolutely wrong
You needed help in movin' out, I owed you bail money too
Yes it's over and done, your'e movin' in with my friend Lou

(3rd Chorus)
Holy ton of horse dung, woman, yes it's over and done
Would you say, just for today, I could be any further shunned?
I may live to see tomorrow, but I'm off to buy a knife and gun
...Herrrre's Johnnyyy!...
Yes it's over and done, ya'll, it's over and done
(end chorus)

...I'll be damned, slammed my hand right in the truck door...

HOSTAGE OF YOUR HEART
copyright 2003 Michelle Richards

(Verse one)
Wham…...I don't know what happened
Something hit me from behind
The heart that once belonged to me
Is now no longer mine

(Pre-chorus)
It has a mind of it's own
beats of it's own free will
Went to the doctor just to hear him say
For what you got, girl there ain't no pill

(Chorus)
Cause…I'm a hostage of your heart
All magnetized by you, I'm like glue
I no longer want to do anything
But spend my time with you

I'm hot..but it's not a fever
It's from lookin' into your eyes
When you take my hand in yours
All I do is feel hypnotized

(Verse two)
My body's shakin'..and yeah, I got a chill
It's not from cold comin' in through my door
My eyes are sparklin' and I am a smiling
I'm floating with love; my feet aren't touchin' the floor

(Chorus)

(Bridge)
Baby, Make the ransom as high as you want; I like being held by you
No one can free me from this feeling,…… cause I don't want them to

(Last chorus)
Cause. I'm a hostage of your heart
You've caught me, and I hope you never let me go......
You took me when I wasn't lookin' (pause)

And I surrender!!!!

"JUMPER"

Copyright: Lynn Crisci 2003 ASCAP

I'm on the edge... Lookin' over the crowd. I'm on the ledge... Noone can stop me now.
I need help... This is how it begins. Everyone's small and powerless...
when you look down on them.

I'm taller than the tower of Donald Trump.
If I don't stop soon... I'm gonna' jump.

Filled with hate that we call pride.
I wish that someone would stop this ride...
high upon your horse and smile.
Live your life in deep denial.

The world is spinnin' in a major slump.
If you don't stop pushin'...

I'm gonna'Fall...
Fall into the great divide.
I'm gonna'Fall...
'cause I refuse to choose who lives and dies.

Seein' so much violence has made me numb. If I don't stop soon... I'm gonna' jump.

Politician's vote their hearts desire.
Our boys are killed with "friendly fire"...
off your guns and feed the fear 'til noone is left standing here.

The world is dancin' while the government drums. If it don't stop soon...
I'm gonna' jump.

I see the sidewalks of my life...
Signs of poverty, robbery, can't you see?
Gravity's pullin' me down under the weight of it all.
You've got to stand before you can fall...

The Gap is growin' like the wealth of Saddam. If you don't stop pushin'...

I'm gonna'Fall...
Fall into the great divide.
I'm gonna' Fall...
'cause I refuse to choose who lives and dies.

The truth is fadin', now my time has come. If I don't stop soon... I'm gonna' jump..
I'm taller than the tower of Donald Trump.
If I don't stop soon... I'm gonna'...

Seven baby sparrows

Lyrics by T. G. Vanini
copyright 2002

Seven baby sparrows were sitting in their nest and they said to one another
Let's fly, let's fly, let's fly
And they opened up their wings and they all began to flap and they all began to flutter
And they flew
Oh there's power in our wings and there's laughter in our songs and there's nothing in our bellies
Let's fly, let's fly, let's fly
So they flapped 'em and they sang 'em and they filled 'em up with bugs and they filled 'em up with berries
And they flew

All summer long we'll eat and sing and play
We'll be in love with what's around us
And when we feel the cool dry breath of fall we'll turn to the south
We'll put our shadows behind us

Ten thousand miles - we'll fly ten thousand miles
A little fluff of feathers and an ounce of flesh
A belly full of berries and an empty nest
We'll fly ten thousand miles
And we don't know where we're going, but we know the way
The stars by night, the sun by day
We'll fly ten thousand miles
And if you know how to listen, if you know where to look
With the spring's warm breath you'll know we're back
When we've flown ten thousand miles

And seven baby sparrows will be sitting in their nest and they'll say to one another
Let's fly, let's fly, let's fly
And they'll open up their wings and they'll all begin to flap and they'll all begin to flutter

Wanting; Willing
A. Flemming
Copyright 2002

I look to find I look to see if there could be another way
If I can make it any easier
I've been run down I've been made waste put in the grinder yeah
I need to be inside your time

Giving away
Giving away
All that I am
All that I am
I'm on the edge of insanity, insanity
Wanting, wanting, wanting

If we can dream then we can be it has been said to me
But I am tired of sleeping
So I will hold nothing inside nothing to hinder me
I'm gonna explode all over

Giving away
Giving away
All that I am
All that I am
I'm living on the edge of insanity, insanity
Wanting, wanting, wanting

Having to stay down being pent up here
Leaving no space to free my mind
Being on top being in front of every thing
No longer a dream to me

If I can see it through
I know it will come true
holding to all I've ever known
Wanting, wanting, wanting;
Willing to give it all away

Giving away
Giving away
All that I am
All that I am
I'm on the edge of insanity, insanity
Wanting, wanting, wanting

I'm on the edge of insanity, insanity
Wanting, wanting, wanting;
willing to give it all away

Dancing Shoes
By: Jim Moore, Dave Mackechnie

We used to move across the stage like a feather floats on air,
Now I live in a cardboard box in a closet under the stairs,
I carried her a thousand nights, off Broadway to Baton Rouge,
Now I’m just her old pair of Dancing Shoes,

One night he stood there in the wings with a red rose in his hand,
I could feel the curtain fall on all that we had planed,
He took her to be his wife to a new life where she would choose,
To put away this old pair of Dancing Shoes,

But now and then when he’s not home,
She’ll disconnect the telephone,
She’ll reach for me her old lost friend,
And through the halls we’ll dance again,
And you know we still have a few good moves,
The lady of the house and me, her Dancing Shoes,

Last night as they laid close in bed, watching “Singing in the Rain”,
She asked him “ Honey, when can we go out on the town again”?
He told her, “ We’ll go soon”, but it’s just the same tired old blues,
That keeps her reaching for me, her Dancing Shoes,

28 and Very Promising

Show me the perfect family:
met in high school, lived in harmony.
Built a nest, the house was so blessed,
you know what came next (the baby)
was the toast of the town. They never
put him down and the grandparents
all came round with gifts.
They cooed and they kissed, they laughed
when he pissed himself and you’d say

stop before you make me sick.
The privileged existence makes me
angry. What’s he gonna do with all
of this? He’d better save the world
from something (but now he’s)

28 and very promising,
hates to cook and so he buys a ring,
can’t stop looking so he tries to swing.
She says no and so he has a fling.
She says come back, don’t do it again.
But he lies and she brings him a kid
with big eyes and hair like a patch of grass
(had his mom’s nose and his daddy’s ass).

Can’t understand their words but
he knows they’re fighting.
An empty table set for two
under mood lighting.

Daddy says hey I’m too young for this.
Kids and prison: what’s the difference?
Hits the bars, he looks at fast cars,
he moves kind of far away so he sees
son in the summertime. They fight:
he’s yours, no, he’s mine. They hope
he’ll turn out fine but the kid makes
friends with a pill. The TV says
it will kill you but he

doesn’t see a reason not to try it.
Life’s about experiences!
My daddy did it in his day!
No one brings him to his senses.

Judge a man by
all the things he did.
It takes a dick to
raise a pyramid.

Hey devil,
I’ve got one.
He’ll go to hell
if there is one.

The love you give, it gets away
and comes to nothing.
In spite of this it’s better to
believe in something.

Push the rock up the hill.
Let it go.
Do it over again.
Now you know

God’s invisible.
Even so,
He likes it when you laugh
at his jokes.

Brandy

You won me with your light-hearted ways
The way your face lights up warms me for days
And the things that you said with the devilish grin
Made my helpless mind start to spin

(Bridge)
We'll take it slow if that's alright
Don't need to see you every night
I just hope I'm on your mind
'Cause I can't get you off of mine

(Chorus)
Brandy breaks into song
Dances when the radio's on
I just break into a smile
Like I did when I was a child
Brandy with the stunning green eyes
Removes the clouds from my gray skies
What we have may be unclear
But I'm happy when you are near

We both have our demons, we've both made mistakes
We're both unsure of what steps to take
Idle minds and well meaning friends
With cautions and warnings that they'd like to lend

Music & Lyrics by Russell Thomas (BMI) 2003 – featuring Female vocalist
The Phenomenal Woman
V1

While many go through life and neglect you
There are never enough words to describe you
My Mother
You are the rock the healer, the giver, the river of love
Its evident you are who you are,
Guiding my life like a star
The wisdom that came through you words
Has kept me from flying with the birds
The kindness and fairness you’ve showed
Concealed all the pain you endured
And for showing me love like you do
Mama this song is for you

Chorus
This one’s for my Mother
To let her know I love her
Have you met my Mama?
A phenomenal woman
Mama can you stand up
Will you keep your head up?
People here’s my Mother
A phenomenal woman

V2
Don’t want to wait till you’re gone to exalt you
I want to sing your praise while you here with me
Mama
You are the voice of reason, the law enforcer, for real
Its evident you are who you are
Guiding my life like a star
The wisdom that came through you words
Has kept me from flying with the birds
The kindness and fairness you’ve showed
Concealed all the pain you endured
And for showing me love like you do
Mama I appreciate you

Chorus
This one’s for my Mother
To let her know I love her
Have you met my Mama?
A phenomenal woman
Mama can you stand up
Will you keep your head up?
People here’s my Mother
A phenomenal woman

Ad Lib by Female (change)

I feel proud when I see you mama
Look at myself and I see you mama
If now I see further mama
It’s from standing on your shoulders
Admiring your grace, and style, finesse and pride
Grateful you are who are
Guiding my life like a star
Oh
This for my

Chorus
Then
Reggae rap
Repeat chorus fade out

Reggae Rap
Ah thank god for ma mama
Always standing strong like the rock of Gibraltar
Making sure me mix me wine with me water
Reminding me to carry out the will of the father
Keep me in the light with the candle and prayer
Mama you are truly a phenomenal woman
Thank you for love, the blessing from above
I’m sorry for the pain, the days I brought you rain
Hear me when I say Phenomenal Woman

Feelin Brand New
by Dana Celeste
10/8/2003

When I wake up every mornin
you are always on my mind
I want to call you on the phone baby
and tell you, you give me a reason
to be alive.

The way you make me feel baby,
I get all tingly deep inside.

OH, you know when you touch me baby,
I get all tingly deep inside.

Drag myself out of bed
Shake all those cobwebs from my head.
Cant wait to get to you, baby
you make me feel brand new

I love the way you make me feel baby,
I get all tingly deep inside.

OH, you know when you touch me baby,
I get all tingly deep inside.

singing sweetly in my ear, then you move oh so near,
touching your nose to mine, you look deeply in my eyes,
You tell me you love me baby,
And gently press your lips to mine, mm mm mmm mm

The way you make me feel baby,
I get all tingly deep inside.

OH, you know when you sing to me baby,
I get all tingly deep inside.

I just want to lay down beside you,
you know you make all my worries
pass right on by.

every mornin..........you make me feel brand new

Lost Another One

(Verse 1)
There’s a pile of rubble burning
And in it lies my heart
I’m shifting and turning
Hoping this is not
Awakened life
Oh please be a dream
But I’m never that lucky
Or at least so it seems

(Chorus)
I’ve lost another one (It got away)
I’ve lost another one (It drifted away)
I’ve lost another one (Surely it’s too late)
For me to catch another one (I’ve had my chance)

(Verse 2)
And now the smoke stack is growing
Taller by the minute
And I’m dying knowing
All my hopes and dreams are in it
If I could just grab them
Perhaps I’d stand a chance
Safely secure them
In the palm of my hands

(Chorus)
I’ve lost another one (It got away)
I’ve lost another one (It drifted away)
I’ve lost another one (Surely it’s too late)
For me to catch another one (I’ve had my chance)

(Bridge)
Now I’ve got to think quickly
And formulate a plan
My skin’s all prickly
From what I’m imagining
With no fear in my heart
Jump head first into the fire
Cause I’d rather risk it all
Than go with no fight

(Chorus)
I’ve lost another one (It got away)
I’ve lost another one (It drifted away)
I’ve lost another one (It's not too late)
For me to catch another one (I’ve got a chance)

Slow

The only meaningful thing she said to me
was when she let go of my hand.
"Would you please drive a little slowly?
The wind's ruining my hair,"
Just a couple of miles away from our destination,
Where both of our lawyers are waiting having a cup of coffee.
Just a couple of miles away from breaking our relation,
When she leaned and said to me...

Chorus: "Together we watched the sun go down.
...and together we watched the stars shine bright.
Before you were a husband, you were a friend I found.
You meant more to me than this dear life.
When I hung on to you, were I too heavy to carry?
You discarded me so brutally, I know...I know...
You broke me so ruefully, I know...I know...
You gave me misery, I know...I know..."
She knows.

She sits again so silently, oblivious to what goes on in my mind.
'Two miles to Knoxville' board passes with a breeze, as I leave my past behind.
There were things needed to be said, but my pride got the better of me.
I closed my eyes and something rolled down.
When she leaned and said to me.

She knows.

The only meaningful thing she said to me,
Was when she held my hand.
"Would you please sign a little slowly?"
But I didn't cared.
She knows. She knows...

Memories of a Lifetime
c. 2003

Playing marbles in the park, jumping double dutch
Playing tag with my little friends, running from the touch.
Seeing new plants come alive, as they poke out from the dirt
Sliding on the muddy ground, but never getting hurt.

Memories of a lifetime, like presents tied with string
Some have shiney ribbons, others are too small for anything
But these are all my memories, of a ifetime.

Walking along the sandy beach, watching waves roll in
As they wash away my footprints, make the sand all smooth again.
Having a chocolate ice cream cone, melting in my hand
Ending with an ice cold drink, from the lemonade stand.

Memories of a lifetime, like presents tied with string
Some have shiney ribbons, others are too small for anything
But these are all my memories, of a lifetime.

Fall comes round the leaves all turn, from green to gold and red
And the geese are all flying south, high above my head
Pumpkins with their orangy glow, carved and filled with light
And the fireflies begin their show, blinking in the night.

Memories of a lifetime, like presents tied with string
Some have shiney ribbons, others are too small for anything
But these are all my memories, of a lifetime.

Catching lacy snowflakes, on the tip of my tongue
Watching them land on my mittened hand, wonder where they all came from.
Breathing in the frosty air, while I skate around the rink
Playing games of snap the whip, trying not to break the link.

Memories of a lifetime, like presents tied with string
Some have shiney ribbons, others are too small for anything
But these are all my memories, of a lifetime.

I Will Cry With You

When your world feels like it’s crumbling in
When friends are scarce and good times thin
When no one seems to understand
I will cry with you

When everything you know feels wrong
When sadness fills your every song
When all you’ve had’s slipped through your hands
I will cry with you

The world tells us don’t let it show
Be strong, stand tall, just play the role
If only they knew what we know
Two hearts will always share one soul
When I cry with you
When I cry with you

Rest your head here close to mine
Don’t run, don’t hide the fear inside
Bare it all for me
I will cry with you

Every yesterday will fade
And all the pain will drift away
For today just lean on me
I will cry with you

The world tells us don’t let it show
Be strong, stand tall, just play the role
If only they knew what we know
Two hearts will always share one soul
When I cry with you
When I cry with you

FLIGHTLINE

Our eyes met, but the next time I just saw you

Why were you so afraid?

You gave me a call, as I was shuffling along

I answered, but only answered

Why was I so afraid?

Make yourself comfortable, no need to worry right now

Everything is perfect, we’re beginning to see the light

Get happy girl, the time of times it has no ends

Nothing will ever hurt you,

Everyone wants to be your friend

So why don’t you come out now

And add your chimes to the wind

When you play your music, we all want to be your friend

Yo a wa ha ee ki onno da ee

Ya na oa o ou o its such a sky filled day

(repeat)

yo a wa ha ee ki onno da ee

Think I’ll wander on down to the Flightline…

THE RAIN

[for female vocal]

I'm sorry to just drop in like this
Do you mind if I spend the night?
You see, me and Eddie were at it again
We had one hell of a fight
There was cursing and crying and sharp objects flying
And kids hiding under their covers
The older ones screaming at Eddie and me
To stop yelling at each other

And I'm lucky to have a friend like you
Who I can turn to and talk to
Who opens the door and lets me come in out of the rain

I hate to come knocking so late at night
But I can't think of where else to go
They roll up the sidewalks at ten, and besides
I would rather not run into someone I know
And I know I said things that I didn't mean
Well, maybe I meant them, and maybe they're true
I was trying to hurt him just like he hurt me
We don't get along as good as Roger and you

And I'm lucky to have a friend like you
Who I can turn to and talk to
Who opens the door and lets me come in out of the rain

It feels so good to sit here by your fire
While the cold wind is blowing outside
Just you and me drinking coffee and tea
And your house is so quiet
Your house is so quiet...

No - never mind, I can tell by your face
That this might not be such a good time
You seem distracted, your make-up is smeared
It looks like you might have been crying
So thanks for the coffee - now it's getting late
Guess I'll head back out into the rain
Maybe drive around town for an hour or two
Then go home and make up with Eddie again

And I'm lucky to have a friend like him
Who I can return to and talk to
And you can come over whenever you need to come out of the rain

ONE OF THEM
By Aderrick
(c) 2000

V1:
Standing outside the circle watching me
Smell my scent craving my essence to drink
Cold iron keeps you back from the one that you prey
Examine my body, Intoxicated by taste
You lash against the circle this won’t hold you back
Pheromone, testosterone
Animals attract.

The lion tamer enters the room and don’t even speak
I like it wet and the taste of sweat
I’m no side show freak

Chorus:
But you’re one of them
Bite the skin
Inspect my moves
Now what cha gonna do

V2:
Crack sounds the whip against your body does sting
Concealed in the shadows till you dominate the scene
All alone you stalk
A soul you must steal
You take me down. Don’t utter a sound
No fantasy, it’s real
Your tongue on my body it stimulates my skin
False security
Not all alone
Another walks in

The lion tamer enters the room and compliments the scene
I like it wet and the taste of sweat
I’m no side show freak

-Chorus-

V3:
You came through
You entered the room
Astounding defeat
You never thought in a million years it would taste
So sweet
The lion tamer enters the room and don’t even speak
I like it wet and the taste of sweat
I’m no side show freak

-Chorus-

The Man of Her Dreams is Jim Beam
©2003 Ashleigh Wehmeyer

Verse 1
She comes in and asks for him
Several times a week
'Cause he's the man who understands
Exactly what she needs

Climb 1
And he's always there
To wash away her cares
And he makes her feel all tingly inside

Chorus
So now the man of her dreams is Jim Beam
A couple rounds with him and she feels like a queen
He's rich and smooth, yeah he's tried and true
That's why the man of her dreams is Jim Beam

Verse 2
He don't run around all over town
She knows right where he is
She's never heard an ugly word
Comin' from his lips

Climb 2
Well, she ain't over Billy yet
But Jimmy's helpin' her forget
Yeah, she's fallin' hard for Mr. "In-between"

Chorus
That's why the man of her dreams is Jim Beam
A couple rounds with him and she feels like a queen
He's rich and smooth, yeah, he's tried and true
That's why the man of her dreams is Jim Beam

Climb 3
And though you'd never know
She's in total control
Why she's got him right in the palm of her hand

Chorus
That's why the man of her dreams is Jim Beam
A couple rounds with him and she feels like a queen
He's rich and smooth, yeah, he's tried and true
That's why the man of her dreams is Jim Beam

GIVE ME WINGS

A hollow stare from empty eyes
Just 12 years old, no place to hide
She watched him exit through the door
Just like all the times before

Her faith in God was fading fast
Prayers denied, though often asked
She clutced the blouse that he just tore
Closed her eyes and prayed once more

(1st Chorus)
Take me Lord, just let me die
I've got no more tears to cry
Give me wings so I can fly away
I'm asking you for just one thing
Take me where the angels sing
Give me wings so I can fly away

Another day, when will it end
Her prayers unanswered once again
"Just do it" said her inner voice
"You know you have no other choice"

She took it from the bedside stand
Gripped it in her shaking hand
She somehow knew the time was near
Prayed out loud, hoped God would hear

(2nd Chorus)
Forgive me Lord, I know it's wrong
(But) I can't go on, I've hurt too long
Give me wings so I can fly away
If you hear me Lord, please take my hand
Lead me to the Promised Land
Give me wings so I can fly away

She heard the creaking of the steps
She held the pistol at her chest
Her mother's husband pushed the door
Slowly walked across the floor

Time stood still, she took her aim
He clutched his chest, cried out in pain
His lifeless body on the floor
She knew he'd touch her never more

(Bridge)
The hole remains there in the wall
Where the bullet lodged as he took his fall
Somehow she missed, but now we know
A heart attack dealt the fatal blow

(3rd Chorus)
Forgive me Lord, not trusting you
In spite of me, your love came through
You gave me wings, but said I had to stay
You've shown me that I still have worth
That life is precious here on Earth
You gave me wings and strength to find my way.

TWISTED

Look at the one you idolise ’cos you worship the body with the gorgeous eyes.

Twisted........... Twisted.........

Look at the one you criticise though I gave my body to give you life.

Twisted........... Twisted.........

Looking in all the wrong places. Bars and clubs with all the pretty faces

You won’t find the love you need. You’ll look till your heart bleeds.

Look at the life you idealise though you’re killing your body to gain that prize.

Twisted........... Twisted.........

Look at the life that you despise though I gave my body to give you life.

Twisted........... Twisted.........

Running all the wrong races. Cars and clothes with all the crazes.

You won’t find the life you need. You’ll look till your heart bleeds.

You’ve twisted everything around. What I make up, You put down.

Twisted........... Twisted.........

You’ve twisted everything around. You’ve made up what’s going down.

Twisted........... Twisted.........

Look where everyone sees and when you see the summer breeze

You’ll find the love you need. Until you look, my heart bleeds.

Richard Groombridge

Green Happy Pills © James Speedy 2003

(Verse)
I’m hearing voices in my head
I won’t repeat the things they said
Can’t seem to think things through
Yeah, I don’t know what to do
So I just wallow in my bed
The doctor said I have a glitch
She said that’s why I have this twitch
She said that it would go away
If I took five of these a day
But I don’t believe the bitch

(Chorus)
I got green happy pills
That I have to take
They’re part of this deal
I made with the state
They calm all the voices
That they say aren’t real
And help me make choices
And numb what I feel
My green happy pills
My green happy pills

(Verse)
I tried them out for just a while
I wore a silly vacant smile
Then colors started getting weird
And all these little elves appeared
I bet these pills are still in trial
I went back and told the doc
That smurfs are walking ‘round my block
She reviewed what she prescribed
And told me I’d survive
Just take more pills and check your locks

(Chorus)
I got green happy pills
That I have to take
They’re part of this deal
I made with the state
They calm all the voices
That they say aren’t real
And help me make choices
And numb what I feel
My green happy pills
My green happy pills

(Bridge)
I don’t remember who I am
But no one seems to give a damn
There’s got to be a better way
It doesn’t matter what they say
They push more drugs than Amsterdam

(Chorus)
I got green happy pills
That I have to take
They’re part of this deal
I made with the state
They calm all the voices
That they say aren’t real
And help me make choices
And numb what I feel
My green happy pills
My green happy pills

COME OUT WITH ME, SHEILA (PROMISED LAND)
Copyright 2002 Richard P. Myers

(Verse 1) It’s hot out on your road, Sheila,
and there’s a twilight wind.
Clouds are flying, twisting, burning.
The moonlight’s cool on my skin.

(Verse 2) Get a candle for the path, Sheila,
and we’ll go dancing in the dark.
I’ve got my stories, I brought my guitar.
Ain’t got a clue to your heart.

(Chorus) No angels’ wings have brushed my cheek.
I am an ordinary man.
Come out with me, Sheila.
It’s you...
You are the promised land.

(Verse 3) Milk and honey, Sheila.
The rivers flow and the ponies run.
Come out with me, Sheila,
we’ll watch the stars die in the sun.

(Chorus) There are no starships in the air.
At least not as far as I can see.
Come out with me, Sheila.
It’s you...
You are the mystery.

Instrumental

(Chorus) No angels’ wings have brushed my cheek.
I am an ordinary man.
Come out with me, Sheila.
It’s you...
You are the promised land.

NO FAIR
by Trent Holloway
copyright 2002

There's a ring on the finger beside the finger in the air
She's wavin' at me sayin' she just don't care
About the life or the love I've been wantin' to share
But it's no news to me - Life ain't no fair

There's a window in the house beside the house we once shared
That lights the bedroom at the top of the stairs
You only have to look to see what goes on in there
And it's no news to me - Life ain't no fair

'Cause a fair is where the clowns go to hide
From the fears and facts of life on the ferris wheel ride
The noise and the lights might fill the air
But when it's all over - Life ain't no fair

Smoke rolls off a shell case beside a shell case on the floor
And there's yellow tape across all the doors
The six o'clock news will have a special report
But it's no news to me - Life ain't no more

And a fair is where the clowns go to hide
From the fears and facts of life on the ferris wheel ride
The noise and the lights might fill the air
But when it's all over - Life ain't no fair

IF I BE BARBIE

I gave them up when I was 10
but I can still remember when
just to get away from all the noise
we'd lock our bedroom door for hours
pretend we were toys

Chorus
If I be Barbie, will you be Ken
we'll have lots of parties
invite all our friends
we'll never have to say goodnite
and we won't fight like them
if I be Barbie, will you be Ken
let's pretend

Bridge1
We'll never have to worry
'bout payin bills or rent
wonder where the time goes
or where the money went
we decorate our dreamhouse
and never disagree
dance in the lamplight, sit down to tea

CHORUS

Bridge2
I'll never have to worry
'bout when you're comin home
sit up watchin TV
and listenin for the phone
we'll only play the games we like
the kind where we both win
you can hold the door for her
she'll always come in

CHORUS

Bridge3
We'll never have to worry
'bout what the other said
remember to say 'sorry"
before we go to bed
we'll jump into my corvette
and drive around the room
walk me to the closet door
kiss under the moon

If I be Barbie.. will you be Ken?

let's pretend.

Environmental Poser

by Andrew Karpinski

She seems so pure and noble fighting for the manatee
So smug and so self righteous, thinking that she’s better than thee
But herbicides and fertilizers inundate her lawn
A Superfund site if I ever saw one
All so she can have a yard so enviously green
Underneath her token tree

Environmental poser, in your gas guzzling SUV
Environmental poser, strike the pose while you hug a tree

Defiant for the cameras which televise her valiant stand
Against the evil forces trying to build this power plant
But don’t you dare question her electric bill
Her waste and gluttonous usage will
Justify this plant and many more the same
Hasn’t she any shame?

Environmental poser, in your gas guzzling SUV
Environmental poser, strike the pose while you hug a tree

So blind to all the damage that your lifestyle reeks
Never see you quit for green anything that’s chic
I see no solar panels up upon your roof
No frugal water use or any other proof
That anything you do is done for more than show
Or anything you say is just to let us know
That you are, oh, so good and clean and caring for our healths
When your actions tell us something else

Environmental poser, in your gas guzzling SUV
Environmental poser, strike the pose while you hug a tree

Environmental poser, attention seeking hypocrite
Environmental poser, your poses ain’t worth a . . .

"HERE IN CHEEKTOWAGA"

(INTRO)

(VERSE)
Here in Cheektowaga I write this poem,
Sitting in an inn that’s so far from home,
Whiling time away on this ho-hum day till
We’ll speak to each other again.
That’s what gets me through all these business trips,
Crammed inside a bus, dining on some chips.
More than a good movie your voice does soothe me.
I wish time would fly until then.

(BRIDGE)
Here in Cheektowaga
Life feels like a saga.
Empty miles sprawl out in the road.
(At) least it’s not too windy
Driving on Route Ninety –
And that highway travels my way
When I go back to our abode.

(INSTRUMENTAL - 1 VERSE)

(BRIDGE)
Here in Cheektowaga,
In my melodrama,
I act like a lonely puppy
Waiting for his master
To fend off disaster.
Then you call me – love enthralls me.
I’m again your happy hubby!

(VERSE) {through 1st half of last line}
Now, as a result, I could hit the town
But there’s no excitement here to be found.
So I choke down dinner – a real winner! –
Shacked up in a drab little room.
Here in Cheektowaga, like anywhere,
When I’ve gone away and you’ve stayed right there
I feel disconnected till I’ve reflected

(CODA)
That, of course, we’ll reunite –
Cause my sadness to take flight.
Yes, of course, we’ll reunite soon.

Black Velvet Elvis
Copyright 2002 Paul T. Wentworth
All rights reserved
Verse 1
You Can’t believe what a good think I found
Down in a dumpster out by the edge of my town
It was a picture of the king, doing his thing
From a long time ago, when he was real thin
He was all dressed in white,
White on a black velvet background
Chorus
It was a black velvet Elvis, I was truly amazed
Went down on my knees my mouth filled with praise
A black velvet Elvis, such a glorious sight
Truly the highlight of my very dull life
Now I’as afraid that the rest of my life would be a letdown
Verse 2
As I was picking it out of the trash, I heard this loud sound
Somebody yelling at my back tellin me to turn around
A man dressed in blue from his head to his shoe
Was looking real mean at you-can-guess- who
Said,” buddy you’re breakin the law, now I’m taking ya downtown
Chorus
On account of that black Velvet Elvis, I’as truly astounded
Still I felt lucky, that day I found it
Black Velvet Elvis, a plum awesome sight
I’ll never forget for the rest of my life
But I was certain the curtain on my life was ready to come down
Verse 3
Got so worked up inside I’as ripe for a melt-down
Sir, I got nothing to hide, he said,” shut up and sit down”
He locked me and Elvis inside of his car, we’s headed downtown
But didn’t get far
At the corner of 15th and main, we had a breakdown
Chorus
I knew it was Black Velvet Elvis there under my arm
Changing my luck, tweaking my Karma
It was Black velvet Elvis guiding my life
Steering me through this difficult time
And I’as begining to think that he was the best friend I'd found
Verse4
By the time the tow truck arrived I was ready for a show-down
Stuck here with Elvis inside, feeling rotten and low-down
When all of a sudden the door opened wide
Elvis said,”run son, and don’t break you stride”
Five miles later, He spoke again, told me to me to slow down
Chorus
I know it was Black Velvet Elvis, truly my savior
I'll never be able to payback the favor
Black Velvet Elvis, transfigured my mind
Now His tatto is with me where the sun does not shine
I became famous, Yes, Now I’m the talk of my Home town
back to original chorus and then fade

"When Garth Sings My Songs"
(c) 2003 Jim R. Malec

I waved goodbye, out the window
Of a Chrysler, with blown out high-beams
I left the palm trees, the beaches
And the gulf coast, sunsettin' behind me
With a no-name guitar and mamas bible in the backseat
Three-hundred dollars and a tank full of dreams

And all my friends think I'm crazy
Oh but I know I'll prove them wrong
They'll understand why I had to leave
When Garth sings my songs

So I pawned my TV, sold my X-box
To pay my rent and I'm workin' part time
Livin' on Ramens, and Red Bull
Quick-mart coffee and McDonald's french-fries
Playin' my songs anywhere anyone will listen
They turn me down, but they don't know what they're missin'

And a lotta people here think I'm crazy
Oh but I know I'll prove them wrong
They'll understand why I wouldn't leave
When Garth sings my songs

Well how cool would it have been to be there
When that no-name writer who didn't stand a chance
Sat on a stool in the bluebird
And played a brand new song called 'the dance'

And I don't care if they call me crazy
Oh I know I'll prove them wrong
They'll know this is where I'm meant to be
When Garth sings my songs

Oh when Garth sings my songs

My Fortune Cookie Said Goodbye

VERSE
Girl, we've been together
For a long time
And I know you thought this love
Would never end.

Well, I'm sorry, that I have to say
Goodbye in such a hasty way.
But I just found out for myself
And my heart is on the mend.

CHORUS
There was a note in my fortune cookie
(That) said it's time to leave
I guess you'd have to see it
For yourself to believe.
It said this love is over
And it's time to move along.
You know about those fortunes,
Why, they're hardly ever wrong.
I wish that I could fight it
But I really shouldn't try.
My fortune cookie said goodbye.

VERSE
Yeah, I know you never saw it comin'
I'm trying hard to take it in myself
But there comes a time
To face the facts
And honey I should start to pack
And let you go and find somebody else.

CHORUS

instrumental

BRIDGE
I only stopped in for an eggroll
And a little cup of tea.
But then I found that cookie
Telling me it's time to leave.

CHORUS
My fortune cookie said goodbye.

Rewind

There is an unwinding between the beginning and the end;
an overflowing waterfall that will never flow again.
And it rushes past the riverbank where our memories catch hold.
We see them for an instant and in seconds they grow old.
There’s a spiraling sensation that mixes happiness with pain.
Our arms keep reaching up to heaven as our souls go down the drain.
So I'll pray for a cold winter, though that seems a bit unkind,
to freeze the life I’ve got right now because I never can rewind.

Chorus:
In a life you can’t rewind
things happen once upon a time.
There may be moments that remind
but you never can rewind.

When Jesus was baptized John poured water on his head;
water that flowed out of him even after he was dead.
I hear that in the final minutes your life plays before your eyes,
like hands grasping for anything that might make the song reprise.
And knowing we’re together in this unfolding of time
makes the loneliness more personal and a criminal divine.
These and other images come and tarry in my mind
and are as permanent as anything in a life you can’t rewind.

Chorus

Sometimes I ride a melody that is propelled by some strange lyric
and I believe that like a deity my gaze becomes more atmospheric;
as a big picture reveals itself in a panoramic sweep
but then the song fades and the words die and I’m startled from my sleep.
There is but one choice remaining though I don’t know which is worse.
To turn my back on this dispersion or to plunge ahead face first.
But before you sit in judgment with criticisms underlined
know that the time that you’ve been with me is a time you can’t rewind.

Chorus

IF YOU WANT A KISS JUST TAKE IT

I see the question in your eyes
But the answer is in my smile
So I am trying hard to relax
Instead of acting like a juvenile

Not a minor so why do I
Feel like an autumn tumble weed
My lips are like a road less traveled
My lips will follow if your will lead

Chorus
A cardinal softly singing
From a maple tree he sit
His love song is so poignant
If you want a kiss just take it

Smell of roses in the garden
Mouth open like a mid summer flower
I am waiting to be kissed
Today this minute not the next hour

I desire to sample a
Kiss with a sugar coated taste
Clouds will whisper, stars wink
Once fantasy and reality embrace

Chorus
A cardinal softly singing
From a maple tree he sit
His love song is so poignant
If you want a kiss just take it

Mourning for America
©2003 lyrics by Michael Fortunato

Verse 1
I sit stunned in my pew
Watching the flag-draped chest,
There in full public view
Before she's laid to rest,
Millions hold candlelights
Sing anthems from our past,
Through the long and somber nights
Flags fly at half-mast,

Chorus
I'm mourning for America
The godly land I knew,
I'm mourning for America
Wake up red, white and blue,

Verse 2
Thousands soon line the road
See her processions pass by,
Emotions stir in my soul
Kings honor her life worldwide,
Guns fire across her grave
Taps plays as the sun goes down,
She's carried by her brave
Then lowered in the ground,

Chorus
I'm mourning for America
The godly land I knew,
I'm mourning for America
Wake up red, white and blue,

Bridge
And I begin to cry
Remembering all her pain,
I feel a part of me die
Though her legacy remains,

Ending Chorus
I'm mourning for America
The godly land I knew,
I'm mourning for America
Good-bye red, white and blue,
Good-bye red, white and blue,
Good-bye red, white and blue.
[fades out]

Maybe My Mind Will Change
(Jana Pochop, copyright 2003)

Verse 1:
I don't always wake up on time
Scary movies just make me cry
But the sun turns over every night
So it's all ok

Verse 2:
I can walk with just ten toes
Sometimes I paint like Frida Kahlo
Outside the lines if I'm not careful
But it turns out ok

Chorus:
I like love in moderation
I am the reason that I don't want children
Somebody give me a revelation
Just a little affection
Maybe my mind will change

Verse 3:
I think the last word is always fitting
Maybe I'm blind to the way that I see things
I don't have much I regret regretting
So it turns out ok

Chorus:
I like love in moderation
I am the reason that I don't want children
Somebody give me a revelation
Just a little affection
Maybe my mind will change

Middle:
It all turns out ok
I sing amazing Grace
Are we just saving face
Or do we face what needs saving?
Not much time to go
Trip down to Mexico
Sing me a solo
And I'll race you to the meaning

Chorus:
I like love in moderation
I am the reason that I don't want children
Somebody give me a revelation
Just a little affection
Maybe my mind will change

It all turns out ok
I sing Amazing Grace...

PORCELAIN

Porcelain was sitting on a shelf
Where she was put so many years ago
Collecting more dust everyday
Nobody ever saw it show
Anytime somebody came around
Porcelain was always on display
She just wants to be used
Be a little dirty for a day

If you've never seen Porcelain
She's strong, but she can be broken
That doesn't mean ignore her
Understand where she's been

Porcelain has something no one sees
A secret that runs along her back
One night this guy just threw her down
Ever since then she's had a crack
Flowers hide most of the scar
But you can't cover up that kind of past
Lying on the kitchen floor
Surrounded by a bunch of broken glass

If you've never seen Porcelain
She's strong, but she can be broken
That doesn't mean ignore her
Understand where she's been
More beautiful than anything
More to her than just her skin
Take her out tonight
Let the reflection begin
Take her out tonight
Let the reflection begin

ENTRY FOR 2003 LYRICS AWARDS

THE MEANING OF WAR
Lyric by: Cindy LaRosa (aka Cindy Lucas)
Music by: F.J. LaRosa/C. Lucas
As recorded by: NORTH 2 SOUTH
Copyright (c)2003.

VERSE 1:
She opened her eyes
As the sun flickered through
The boarded up window
On that cool spring morn
Her mommy won't wake up
And she's lying beneath the table
With baby brother's body
Wrapped tight in her arms

PRE-CHORUS:
How did this happen and why?
She never even got the chance to say goodbye

CHORUS:
And she wipes the tears from her pretty black eyes
Afraid of the fire that falls from the sky
And her little hands shake as she walks to the door
She can't read
But at three
She's learned the meaning of war

VERSE 2:
There'll be men in the city
Like she's seen before
Handing out blankets
And medicine each day
Her daddy's gone off
To some place in the hills
And now she's all alone
Cause mommy's gone away

PRE-CHORUS:
She doesn't know where to go
But there's nothing left for her in this place she called home

CHORUS 2:
And she wipes the tears from her pretty black eyes
Afraid of the fire that falls from the sky
And she faces this day with a future unsure
She can't read
But at three
She's learned the meaning of war

BRIDGE:
She wonders, "Will this ever end?"
And is she gonna see her daddy again?
The strangers bring food and shelter and this thing they call "aid"
But they can never bring back the family taken away...

CHORUS 3:
And she wipes the tears from her pretty black eyes
Afraid of the fire that falls from the sky
And her little hands shake like never before
She can't read
But at three
She's learned the meaning of war
She can't read
But at three
She's learned the meaning of war...

WORDZ OF CAUTION Y3K..
(c)2001 by Derrick McNaught

You don't wanna exchange gunfire
with this mob hitman for hire
have air escaping your lungs
like cars with flat tires

this is a breeding ground
for us hoods to throwdown
brooklyn bound replacement killers
the showdown

gaining worldwide attention
not to mention my mob connections
charmz picking off cats
like deion sanders interceptions

with strategic matters
that lead to crazy blood splatters
la familia that means
only my family matters

charm do it the rap way
the gat way the mack way
settle scores the gun-clap way
then hit the back way

when i'm after ya
i use any means to reach ya
head to ya church on sunday
and kidnap ya preacher

on a rampage bringin rage
to center stage tims all beige
murders making the front page

it's kinda routine for my team
to blow ya spleen
homicide cops puzzled
by this murder scene

charmz got drippin tears
from careers i put in arrears
trying to blow worldwide
like britney spears

The Wind and The Stones

V1 The waves and the beach, they’ve got an understanding
no one comes between them, not for long
and the river loves the riverbanks, but still it’s always leaving
and the banks conceal their grieving in a song

Ch And I’ll sing you a song of the wind and the pines
I’ll sing you a song of the pines on the shore
and I’ll wait for the sound of your footsteps returning
and I’ll sing you a song of love

V2 Oh the wind and the stones were destined for lovers
(but) like your heart and mine they keep saying goodbye
for the wind has to travel and here I’ll be stayin
just me and the stones and these tears in my eyes (chorus)

V3 I walk in the pines and I hear the wind whisper
and many’s the night that I’m hearing your voice
oh the stones and my heart, we’ve learned to be patient
and love may be hard but we’ve both made the choice

(More Than) An Eight Second Ride
copyright 2003 Dorothy Cooley

Why don't you hitch you wagon to my sturdy frame
I'll be your work horse baby I'll be you anythang
I got four strong limbs, and a heart that likes to run
We'll take a trip, you won't forgit, how 'bout some fun?

Chorus
Gentle gives way to frisky,I like life risky,
My gait is more like a glide
I'll give it longer,I can give it stronger
I'll give you more than an eight second ride.

2. Well all the phillys down at work are doin' a-bout anything
Now they're takin' bets on who you'll get to wear your weddin' ring
Me, I got a different take, not as desperate as they seem
I like runnin' wild but I can be tamed, I am the cowboy dream

Chorus

Bridge
I will admit, there's times you get
down underneath my skin
The way you kiss, it's devilsh
I can tell by the way you grin

Why don't you hitch your wagon to my sturdy frame
I'll be your work horse baby, I'll be your anythang

Title: Sweet Eleven
Author: Linda Geleris

Sweet Eleven

V.1
A plaque of your handprint
Hangs next to your door
From kindergarten six years before
We sit Indian style on your bedroom floor
In a pile of your childhood treasures
This is Sweet Eleven

V.2
I stack up the clothes
That have grown too small
As we talk of homework and basketball
Could be any old moment from a thousand days
But the tug in my heart tells me different
This is Sweet Eleven

Bridge:
We’re packing up your photographs
And poems from the third grade
And your half of a broken heart that says ‘‘best friends’’
We’ll save the box for later
‘Cause we have more work to do
A child is moving out
And a pre-teen’s moving into your room

V.3
I miss you already,
And you’re not even gone
But part of me knows that it won’t be long
Till I turn back the pages
In the years to come
To this bittersweet chapter
In the book of our love
Sweet Eleven
