Just to let everyone know, the image thing worked out OK -- sort of. Because I install some programs on the d:\ drive, windows imaging required that both the c:\ and d:\ drives be restored!!!! Arghhh!!! So I went about backing a few things on d:\ that are not in my normal backup and then restored.
Worked like a champ. Of course my image was over a year old so I lost a few things. But none of the things that really, really matters (work related and songs) were not lost.
Lessons learned: 1.) Back up more than once a week (ha, ha). 2.) take an image snapshot more than once a year! 3.) look at alternative image programs that allow you to separate the c:\ and d:\ drives -- no matter what you install. 4.) make a million in the stock market so you don't care if you lose anything.
