Reviewing past work is a good pracice. You get insight in the themes you've been interested in, and the values you had. Not just in one, maybe exeptional, song, but in the bulk of writes.
You sort of create a new experience using own past experiences as your lens. It can contribute to finding your voice as a writer (which can take a lot of effort).
