Hi Mac! Long time.
Out of the blue I came on to check out some music, and lo and behold, there is another Mac Charles song to check out. Absolutely wonderful, as I expected.
Damn it is hard to read that you are dealing with cancer. Sure, we all know that birth is the leading cause of eventual death...can't get around that one...but it's still difficult to accept, both for every individual and everyone who knows that individual. So know this: Mac, your songs are a gift—always beautiful, always from the heart, always lovingly and carefully crafted, and always well worth the listen. They always surprise me in some way, while at the same time seeming perfectly familiar somehow. You have a rare gift, and I thank you so much for sharing it. You have given me a lot of listening pleasure over the years, and I'd rather hear one of yours than most of what is popular in the world.
I wish you lots of laughs and love in the days to come. I wish you courage and strength, and most of all, I wish you a peaceful passage. This whole baffling experience of life is amazing and beautiful to me, even the fear even the loathing, even the pain, and even the despair. In the end, it is all a rare gift. You deserve to know that you gave back in a big way. Your art is beautiful, and if I outlast you, I can promise that you will still be listened to.
Cheers! —Mark
