This Bar


I step through the door
of this dimly lit place
where no one will notice or care
I search all around
with a grin on my face
'til I find an unoccupied chair
I sit right on down
and order a drink
I don't need to listen
I don't need to think

God bless the bartender
making it right
keeping the world safe
night after night
and bless the dishwasher,
servers and cook
if not for this bar
They'd have thrown me the book

People are friends here
from back in the day
happily wasting their time
They all talk a lot
without nothing to say
But hey man. It's cool.
It's your dime.
the music is loud
the place smells of beer
I don't pay attention
I don't need to hear

having had much too much
I tried to get out of this bar
with keys in my hand
is when they all saw me
and stopped me from getting too far
