Most of my life I wrote country because I like country above most genres. I tried writing Gospel but couldn't do it, mainly because I never knew enough about the subject I was writing about. If you are not a great singer you stand little chance of getting heard even if your songs are great. I've had a few country songs cut by indie artist but they too have to get past the gatekeepers. I'll soon be leaving this world and leaving many good songs behind, maybe my son will find some outlets for them. 2800 of my Gospel songs are registered with CCLI and are available for churches to use. I have about half that number in secular songs registered with SOCAN. Anyway, it has been a good hobby, a bit expensive demo wise, but it is good to create something out of nothing, that is how God made us, each with different gifts in different degrees to serve our fellow man.

They say write what you know. I think its very true, dont speak of emotions you don't have. Or at least understand

I don't write love songs none. I don't stay in love long enough haha. Maybe that's a song.

Churches I've known use classical pieces, Ave Maria, and old, old ballads and folk songs.

Not many church songs do it for me, I always love the catholic. " prayer of St Francis"..beautiful song
