My favorite guitar was a 1946 Gibson acoustic I bought in a pawn shop in El Paso back in 1969. It has a small neck and I gave it to my sister 20 years ago because she has small hands. I would like to get it back but I don't have the moxy to tell her so, Judi if you are reading this.....

I bought the best Ovation the company made back in 1977 and still have it. I think I paid $700 for it and I couldn't get that for it now probably-that was my worst investment. About 20 years ago I bought a white Japanese tele and played it in a band for about 10 years. Folks have offered to buy it recently. Apparently the craftsmanship in the Japanese tellies in the mid 80's was pretty good. I never pampered it. I was a workhorse and except for a tiny chip near the knobs, it is flawless.

The guitar I play the most is a pawnshop guitar that nobody can identify. I got a call from a friend who said, "You need to come down to the Crowley Pawn shop (Crowley Texas) because they have this amazing sounding guitar for $100 with the case. I bought it and put a pickup and EQ in it and I play it live. the guy who did the electronics said it was a Martin kit. That guitar stays in tune better than any guitar I have ever owned.

I bought my son a Chinese 3/4 size guitar a couple of months ago and it sounds great doing acoustic leads. It has this amazing sustain and presence and all the notes have equal projection. It is really fun to play. I went into Rusty's Guitars who has been around for 50 years and ask what the best small guitar was. He said you can pay $1000 for a Martin or $80 for a cheapie that sounds like crap and doesn't even have a truss rod; Or for for $95 you can get these puppies and they are almost as good as the Martins. He set the strings and did the intonation and threw in a strap, I walked out of the shop at $105 including Texas sales tax. My son loves it-almost as much as Guitar Hero III.
