"If It's My Time To Go," a song by Color Theory (the moniker for singer-songwriter Brian Hazard), won the grand prize in the electronic category of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Judged by music industry veterans and recording artists such as Bob Weir, the Veronicas, and Al Jarreau, the Lennon contest is one of today's most prestigious international songwriting competitions. Hazard will receive over $5,500 in cash and musical equipment in connection with the award.

The song can be heard on the John Lennon Songwriting Contest website at:

"If It's My Time To Go" is featured on Color Theory's latest album, "The Thought Chapter." Released in November 2008, "The Thought Chapter" is a strong and wide-ranging collection of 12 songs featuring Hazard's memorable songcraft and unique arrangements.

The news that Color Theory has won a John Lennon Songwriting Contest award comes in the wake of an announcement last week that the Huntington Beach, California-based artist is a nominee for Best Electronic in the 2009 Orange County Music Awards. That event will be held at the Grove of Anaheim on April 4, 2009.
