Congratulations to you and your daughter. Where did that saying come from "break a leg", sounds painful to me LOL Generally, because of the superstition of many stage actors it's bad luck to wish someone good luck, thus break a leg. It can also be an exhortation to put on a great, exciting performance, ostensibly so the actor has to bow or curtsey, bend the leg at the knee, ie: "break a leg".
