You are right. You need the equipment, you have to learn the song and the lyrics, you need time to arrange the song, to learn how to play this, record this stuff. And – believe it or not – for the song I am working on right now, I need two days to record the melody and three hours for the vocal takes. Now I am sitting on the computer for three days just to edit, to engeneer and to mix this tun. My friend Robert says, he spend around 50 working hours just for mixing the song. Isn´t that crazy?

To record on a semi-professional base you need around 3000 Bucks (Euros not Dollar).

Sure, the other way that was suggestion is an option. Lyricist writes the Lyrics, Composer compses the music. Make a rough demo, send it to a Producer/Demo Service, pay 200 Bucks (equally shared) and you have your Demo. Juhu, and after that? You post the link somewhere to get a review and they tell you: “You should change something”… no longer possible. You send it to your publisher and he says: “No good enough”. Wasted money. Next one!
