The first set lyrics here are specific to a particular mother and son who asked me to write a "Mother/Son" dance song for the son's wedding... Wil Lim provided the music and did a GREAT job if you ask me. All comments, nits, whatever graciously accepted... The song was used in the wedding this weekend... I spoke with the Mother this morning and she said it was a huge hit with the 168 people there... many people in tears and the groom's college buddies thinking it was one of the coolest things they'd seen at a wedding... I'm pretty pleased. We are continuing on to phase two of this now and I have written the general lyrics which you will find further below... I would appreciate any comments on how you think they will fit melodically and whether they are working in terms of content. Here's the link to the "customized" version. If you would, try to "hear" the general lyrics (second set) in our melody... http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10762453My Little Boy© 2011 Greg Swartzentruber and Wil Lim From the day that you were born On the front seat of that old Ford You’ve always tackled life at your own pace Friends came over building forts And GI Joe gave way to sports You’ve always put a smile upon my face chorus: Today you take your lover’s hand My little boy is now her man My heart’s filled as it can be with so much pride and joy I’m dancing with the man you’ve become My big and strong all grown up son But somewhere deep inside of me you'll always be… My little boy When things were tough you did your best Took three tries at your drivers test And sure enough you finally earned your ride I’ve been here through all of it The years you spent away at Pitt And now I send you off with your new bride repeat chorus Bridge: As your mother, this day's a special moment Though I admit, it's somewhat bittersweet I'm so happy you've found your one true love But it feels like losing a part of me repeat chorus My little boy, I love you General Lyrics (unrecorded yet) My Little Boy© 2011 Greg Swartzentruber/Wil Lim From the day that you were born I have watched as your life soared Inside of me you hold a special place From first steps to climbing trees Building forts to skinned-up knees You’ve always put a smile upon my face Today you take your lover’s hand My little boy is now her man My heart’s filled as it can be With so much pride and joy I’m dancing with the man you’ve become My big and strong all grown up son But somewhere deep inside of me You’ll always be… My little boy Son, a mother’s love is true When you’d laugh I’d smile with you But I felt your pain every time you cried Within your heart I pray You still feel my love today As now I send you off with your new bride Today you take your lover’s hand My little boy is now her man My heart’s filled as it can be With so much pride and joy I’m dancing with the man you’ve become My big and strong all grown up son But somewhere deep inside of me You’ll always be… My little boy And there’s no doubt, this day's a special moment But I admit, it's somewhat bittersweet I'm so happy you've found your one true love But it feels like losing a part of me Today you take your lover’s hand My little boy is now her man My heart’s filled as it can be With so much pride and joy I’m dancing with the man you’ve become My big and strong all grown up son But somewhere deep inside of me You’ll always be… My little boy My little boy, I love you

"I left my home, only to find a new home, full of heart, soul and dreams. Then, I left that new home, heart intact, but much stronger and energized from the experience" -Brian Austin Whitney
