Michael was critiquing a lyric I posted on forum 3. It was about my aunt. Back in 1948, she was almost raped at the age of 17, but was saved by an "angel" -- a country man and his family, who happened to have tools scattered all over the floor of their car. She later wrote a thank you note, but it was returned as undeliverable.

Well, country guy, tools, angels....Michael apparently couldn't resist, and came up with the delightful hook, "Country Guardian Angel!" He invited me to join in on the fun with the writing, along with Tommy Cutrer on guitar. Michael did the vocal -- and here's the end result! (Would have been done sooner but Tommy had to run the foxhounds, in the morning, you know!)

Thanx, Michael, for including me in this! My aunt passed away last year, but she sure would have loved this as much as I do! Somewhere, somehow, I just KNOW she's listening and tapping her toes -- grateful that she can finally "thank" her true Country Guardian Angel!!

Country Guardian Angel

People think I'm just a country boy
But I'm actually an angel
I ride around in my pick up truck
Searchin' for folks in danger

I keep everything I need at hand
Every tool you could imagine
I can fix whatever brings you trouble
I'm your country guardian angel

In overalls and a straw hat
Ain't no wings upon my back
I look just like you
But here's a little down home fact
I'll be there in an instant
Whenever you're in need
I'm your country guardian angel
You can count on me

Some say there's a halo around my head
It's just a headlamp for the night
When tires blow and need some fixin'
Folks soon will see my light

The hardest to mend is the broken heart
When your love gets so tangled
That's the time i need you to believe
I'm your country guardian angel

In overalls and a straw hat
Ain't no wings upon my back
I look just like you
But here's a little down home fact
I'll be there in an instant
Whenever you're in need
I'm your country guardian angel
You can count on me

I'm your country guardian angel
You can count on me
