I adopted an eight-year-old spitz this year, who looks like an Arctic Fox, and acts like a fox. He's had two previous owners and was once badly abused. I've fallen in love with him. Jim Colyer -- I know, I KNOW...80 million dogs and counting... Profound Devotion One look at your face and I'm gone The way you love me is never wrong In a stealthy way you catch my eye I dread the day we'll say goodbye You're not the typical kind of guy You're kind of foxy, kind of shy When you take me on our wild runs I feel like I'm your chosen one CHORUS You stand sometimes uncertain On the edge of my emotions But you jump into that ocean Full of trust and profound devotion We explore like children in the woods So breathless I throw off my hood You adore me like no other will From you I'll never get my fill You have this mysterious way Like you might disappear one day I feel deep down you'll never stray But just the same I stop and pray Bridge Sakari, I'm so sorry* You were hurt before When you came to me I swore Your pain would be no more CHORUS You stand sometimes uncertain On the edge of my emotions But you jump into that ocean Full of trust and profound devotion (c) 2013, Lisa Gundling *Per Colin's idea, I added the name of my dog -- Sakari (rhymes with "safari"). I hope this works?! Thanks, Colin!

Well done! That guy looks like he needs you and you him. You two are now a pack. The lyric would seem more appealing if you gave him a name.

Hi Travis,
Thanks so much! Yes, he's a good-sized dog -- 29 pounds! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I sent it to a friend who knows him and she said, "every word about him is TRUE"!!

Hi Geneva,
Thanks so much -- I think he's beautiful! I'm glad you liked the woods lines. When I take him out, it is a wild time! When he sees a deer, he jumps three feet in the air and starts spinning around and it's always an adventure! Thanks for your nice visit!

Hi Jim,
Yes, you are right about babies. For me, it's not an either/or, although I couldn't imagine adopting a baby at this point! lol!
I had never had a dog until four or five years ago, when we adopted an old sheltie. He passed away back in February and in March, we adopted this one.
If you're fed up with women, I think you'd like a dog. I told this joke once on the forum, but I'll tell it again:
Question: "How do you know that your dog is nicer than your wife?"
Answer: "If you lock both of them in your trunk for three hours, and then open the trunk -- which one will be glad to see you?!"
LOL!
Thanks for your visit, Mr. Dog Scrooge!!

Hi Colin,
I like that -- we're now a pack! Yes! Also, his name is "Sakari" (rhymes with "safari"). It means "sweet" in Eskimo. He's an American Eskimo Spitz, so the previous owners gave him that name. The owners before that badly abused him. It was a man who beat his wife and his dog.
Anyway...I added Sakari's name to the bridge...I think you're right that the name adds something! I hope it works?!
Thanks so much for your help!
Lisa

Thanks so much, James! Dogs of his breed are best known as being watch dogs (he's a good one!), and circus dogs. He's really good at standing on his hind legs and walking around -- very humorous! --Lisa

Lisa That's a funny joke Lisa. I'll try to remember it. I'd rather be alone than to substitute a dog for a woman. My ex has a cat. She puts that cat above me!

Hi Jim, Yes, the dog can't replace the woman...just a different kind of love! That is kind of funny that your ex puts the cat above you. That could be a song, you know! Lisa

Hi John, Thank you for your beautiful response! Someone once said that dogs are like little furry hearts running around, which is true, even for prissy little spoiled brats who endure too much piano! Lisa

My piano playing must put Dagny to sleep. She always sleeps under my piano when I'm playing. John

Maybe Dagney thinks that if you don't have an audience, you'll stop! LOL! I'm truly teasing -- she's one Lucky Dog, getting to listen to your music all day!!! Lisa
