You write and perform well. FJ has already pointed out the "prime line" so I don't need to go over it again.
I once did a cover of one of Joe Wrabek's critter songs not long ago and nearly died from singing it 'cause it was seven minutes long. (Armadillo on the Interstate) I did a shorter version for his album and folks tend to stay awake longer, I'm told... LOL! The worst part was trying to remember the lyrics. Thank God for pen and paper!
I hope you know (if you plan to "pitch" this song... the Publishers and Producers won't "reel it in" due to the five minute rule.) (The exception here... is whether or not you have entered the hallowed halls of genre fame and stardom.) They have to pay a higher rate for "long songs" and usually prefer to pass for economic reasons.
Don't let any of this discourage you. I get the idea you are doing what you like... the way you want it done... and that certainly rates my admiration. Best of luck with your music.
Much talent, my friend.
Dave

Hi Nelson, 9 1/2 minutes? Yikes!I've never been able to hold my own attention for anywhere near that long, let alone anyone else! Well done though, and since you are the performer, you only have to please yourself. Ricki

Floyd Thx for stopping by and giving this one a spin. Thumbs from you, is always a good thing. Dave Thank you for swinging by as well. Appreciate the compliments --- you are too kind. You hit the nail on the head brother; I couldn’t possibly care less about publishers’ wants and desires. My aim at the moment is to write a great song… eventually performing it, knocking folks on the asses. The only way I know to get there is by learning to play better, sing better and write better… so I have enough on my plate, eh? John Be careful now, I am naïve enough to believe, if I stay focused and remain true to a vision, anything is possible. That feeling I get when someone gets what I’m doing, never gets old. Ricki BINGO…….. You hit the nail on the head. What does she win Johnny? Well Nelson, she wins her very own link to the whole 9 minute and 23 seconds SHA * BANG which includes the last verse, where he meets a pretty young lady crying under a tree. BIG SMILE Said in the voice of one of those announcers at the end of a pharmaceutical commercial. Warming**************** This songs contains 560+ words, 5 verses, 4 choruses. If you are adversely affected by long songs... Ok singing... below average musicianship or piss poor production>>>> DO NOT CLICK THIS LINK. THAT IS ALL

MISTER NELSON--
I love this one--I know how you feel, and the truth of being set free, holding the strings as you write and sing from the heart!
This is one of your best!
Write on!

Mackie Hey, Thank you, Mackie. I'm grateful that it speaks to you, it does to me as well. I simplified the arrangement, reworked the chorus, then everything just clicked. During my bouts of delusion, when I picture myself playing music for an audience, Songs like this are definitely on the set list. Sh_t... did I say that out loud? Oops....

Mr. Nelson, and I do mean Mister, a well deserved title when you write like this. I loved this song--I can handle the length and have been known to do the same with a few songs. I do try and have a shorter version ready--and in fact am working on that same scenario myself.
I do think personally, IMO, that if you inserted a short digressing bridge after 2nd chorus in place of vs. 4--you would bring in a slight change of pace which would offer a nice break with the slower tempo song and also gives the impression of having a song "feel" a bit shorter.
I have to say, though, this is a real "sweet" write--I always enjoy your unique vocals as well!

Hey Mr. Nelson,
Always "blown away" by your tunes. That isn't puffing. I truly am. You are a genius storyteller, with one of the coolest and smooth deliveries I have heard in ages. I LOVE this! This is the kind of stuff I listen to all the time. I can't say enough about it other than I am looking forward to the finished product.
Dave

Hey Eddie The Mister denotes only simplicity. MisterNelson being about as slick, eye catching and clever, as my songs are, which is to say – not at all… just a guy named Nelson, making music. As always I appreciate your ear and suggestions, you always have an interesting take on things.
Doug Thank you for stopping by and giving it a spin. Glad you enjoyed it.
Vic Thank you sir. Let’s see how it turns out.
Dave I really appreciate you taking the time to listen and most of all for sharing your thoughts on my work. I don’t know how to explain it other than to say, this is the music I’m moved to create.
That being said the kindness in your words blows me away and brightens my day.
Thx
