vs I'm sitting here with a hole in my shoe And a faded black and white photo of you Tears streaming down my cheeks All of those years, all of those weeks vs I could have held you in my arms Watched you grow, succumbed to your charms But the drink had me in its grasp From the very fist day to the very last P/C Your mother took you away On that cold cold lonely day I know it was the right thing to do Still it broke my heart in two Chorus: Forgive me for letting you down Forgive me for not being around I've written this letter to you Explaining the things I've been through I hope it reaches you safe You read it before I'm in my grave vs I pray you've not been acting to wild And maybe even have your own child Are settled in your own little home With a cute little dog and a car of your own vs I know that your mom has passed on It was a very sad day when that news came along But I'm begging you for the very first time If you think of me make those thoughts kind Chorus: Forgive me for letting you down Forgive me for not being around I hope that your dreams come true And the good lord looks out for you Maybe at some future date I'll finally see your face

Hey Joe,
Wow! You're really on a roll as of late. I think this is my favorite lyric of yours up to this point! I absolutely love it. It's beautiful and very well written. Very touching without being too mushy. Sometimes very hard to do.
After the first read I picked up a melody right off the bat. I liked it so much I sang it a couple of times. There's a few very minor meter bumps that are very easy to sing through, so nothing I would call an issue. A couple of typos, but again no big deal.
I love this lyric. I wish I had more time on my hands. I'd probably be asking to compose it. Very nice! You should really try to get this one put to music. Excellent!
David

Hey David I'm glad you enjoyed it so much, it's based on a story told to me by a guy I met when I was living on the street. I do have a melody for this(and a simple guitar backing).
Cheers Joe

Hey Travis I did consider those lines on my first draft, I just didn't like how they sang.

Pretty cool background info. Sounds like you had it pretty tough at times. That's great that you have the melody, and have started the music. I would love to hear this one! David

Like the story, Joe. I look forward to hearing this one play out. Amazing no matter how low life can drag you, there's always someone a little deeper down the hole than you.

Hey Chris I'm glad you liked it. It's true what you say even when I was on the street I never felt sorry for myself. There always was someone worse off.

Joe, Excellent read. I'd like to hear it as well. One consideration: Explaining the things I've been throughConsider swapping out "things" with something more specific. Ex. "Changes" or? Yeah, the song probably reflects an all too frequent situation. Nice one, Dave
