Hi Everyone...It's nice to be back, and, wow....it's been a long dry spell. I have this new tune that I just recorded, and it would be great if you could, please, give me your thoughts. Much thanks..... -Tom "When?" by Tom Tognaci http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12921250When …will I love again? Have a song again? In my heart again? When …will I live again? And dare to breathe it in Well, I’ll know…yes, I’ll know The sound of trumpets…. when they blow I’ll know…yes, I’ll know When that music rises…. in my soul When? To be loved, again To be whole again Like I once was then When…..will I fly again? …and dare to trust the winds? Well, I’ll know…yes, I’ll know When the winds of change….. begin their blow I’ll know…yes, I’ll know That restless stir lifting my soul When …will I love again? Have a song again? In my heart again?

Tom, Really nice. Good performance. Two quick opinions to consider. 1. I think I'd like to hear "in my soul" repeated at the end of each chorus. 2. begin their blowI think "begin to blow" works a little better. Again, Nicely crafted. Dave

Great hook. Question type lyrics always work for me. It is a powerful way to create a song and you have here IMO.
Welcome back.

Dave Thanks for the listen and comments, Dave....."begin their blow" / "begin to blow"....here, I went back and forth, and decided that their added to the sentiment. I was able to sing their more effectively, as well. As the ink to this is still drying....I will be playing around with the wording in the weeks to come. Thanks!

Hey, Tom...
Beautiful song. Nice job! I seemed to be waiting for you to come in with drums, bass, guitar and keys..and THEN finish sweet and quiet. But beautiful nontheless.

Tom, A beautiful song. Very well sung (and performed). It sounded like what I would expect Cat Stevens to be doing if he were still Cat Stevens. Nice! floyd

Tom, this has all your usual trade mark qualities. Poetic and sensitive and those wonderful vocals we have become accustomed to. I have always admired how your simple one guitar, one vocal always sound like so much more. Only critique I have is it ended too soon! Enjoyed it start to finish.

Tom,
Good seeing you around here again!
You have a powerful melody and passionate song here. I like this a lot. The whistling (for me, disconcerts me from the song vibe and takes me to a Clint Eastwood soundtrack spaghetti western--would rather hear a GH "while my guitar gently weeps vibe than a whistle). This song needs a "rock edge" to it IMO, -- would love to hear this with a full production!
Very, very cool write here--a lot of potential and room for another 30 seconds of music IMO.

-Thanks Tom W......and it's always nice to hear from you.
- Hey there Eddie...thanks for listening and for the fine comments. The words were still wet ink imprints on the copy paper when I recorded this, and posted it on Soundclick. The whistling was a spontaneous need to "do something". It had to be a 1+1, when I posted it. I do want to do a bigger production of this, and am going to try to get my son to sing this......just recently, I discovered that he has quit a nice voice. Wish me luck...I hope this to be a lot of fun for the both of us. -Tom

This comes across as a really passionate song. I like the guitar and soft delivery and how the vocal fluctuates as the story is told. The emotion is all there. I was surprised not to hear "When" as the final word sung, but it's a fine song just as it is.
Enjoyed it!

Hello Tom, I've just listened to Mr.Nelson's new song and commented that it was outstanding and didn't think I'd find a further song today to match it -but I just did. Excellent in every way Travis

Yes! This is a finel write and vocal that just begs a bigger treatment -- not an overly layered production but something that builds through the tune.
Enjoyed it.

I hear feeling and passion and neither's out of fashion!! Only thing perhaps is to add a bridge w/lyrics followed by a possible short instrumental bridge then final chorus to lengthen and strengthen. Best, Lynn

I like what you have, Tom. You delivered with your usual honesty. I think there should be a contrast somewhere to save the singer from his weakness. I realise the narrator needs to be fragile but maybe a short bridge creating that contrast would work. Something like: "There's someplace, I can find, somewhere lost in my mind" Just thinking, Vic

Hey Tom,
I'll come right out and say it: "JEALOUS"!! Between the thoughtful lyrics and the wistful ebb and flow of the musication, I was completely drawn in. Like Kristi, I wouldn't have minded one last "When?" at the end -- but hardly a deal-breaker.
In fact, now I can't decide if I'm depressed about your talent and need to pop open a bottle of wine...or pop open a bottle of wine and get back to the drawing board....Hmmmm, either way, looks like I get some wine!!
Thanks on all counts Tom. Seriously, a fab job!!
Cheers, Beth

Tom,
Came to have a listen and realized I'd been here some time back. Enjoyed this again! Very cool melody, still feel how I felt before, but also this would be nice kept as a smaller production as well, but I was hearing some subtle soft harmonies with the chorus this time around in my mind.
Have you gotten your son to record this one yet?

-Hi Kristi......Wow!! I thought this song had died and was buried beneath the ruins of all the latter posts and ponder. Thanks for the resurrection......and, for the kind words. And, you are right on! I may be a little slow; but, the suggestion about the final "when" is a very good one. It's an idea that I will be later on using! Thanks!
-Thank you Lisa, very much, for listening and commenting!
-And thank you very much Travis!! Very kind and generous of you. I am very happy for the enthusiasm generated over this song. Thanks again!
-Tom

-Thanks Janice and Bud!! I truly appreciate the comments.
-And thanks to you, as well, Lynn. ;-)
-Hi Vicarn.....thanks for listening and commenting....I'm not sure this would have the same effect. And, then again, I might have trouble finding someone to sing this....being in such a pathetic predicament, and all! Thanks, again!
Thanks for the kudos Beth!! I need to hear that, much more often!! ;-)
Thanks All! -Tom

Hi Tom, Oh wow, you know I'm a fan! This is really beautiful! As I listened, I gazed at my dog, who was lying there with his eyes half closed, snout between his paws ... and he had this misty look like ... like the heartbreak of the song belonged to him! Lisa

Hi Tom ...
Long time... Good to be hearing you again!
This song made the wait worth the time. Question songs are always great when done correctly and this on is. They immediately catch the listener's attention ... questions usually beg fro an answer, so the listener hangs on for the answer.
Nice song and nice vocals. We totally enjoyed it!
